Recording artist Dua Lipa just released her latest album this past week, so there's no better time for the pop star to pull double duty as the host and musical guest of "Saturday Night Live." Of course, her first time taking on the honor unfortunately comes after Ryan Gosling hosted a banger of an episode, packed with viral gems like the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch. But if your expectations were firmly in check, then you probably enjoyed this lukewarm, fairly amusing but not raucously hilarious episode of "SNL."
Thankfully, Dua Lipa turned out to be a solid host alongside her musical guest duties. She was game to jump into a variety of characters, didn't severely derail any sketches with subpar performances, and she was even willing to make jokes at her own expense during the monologue. However, the sketches were not exactly of the highest quality, and though Dua Lipa did her best,...

Heidi Gardner is seven seasons in on Saturday Night Live and had never broken character until Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day personified Beavis and Butt-Head.
The comedian completely lost it during SNL when she turned to see her co-star dressed as Butt-Head during one of the sketches. In a new interview, Gardner said she had always maintained her composure during the live sketches, thinking they would cut her from the cast if she broke.
“I just had it in my head [that] I couldn’t do it,” she said on Today with Hoda & Jenna. “I think you get this big job on SNL and you want to do your job at the best of your ability, I think maybe I thought I’d get fired.”
Gardner shared the techniques she had implemented over the years to help her avoid breaking character, such as “biting your lip” or ” yawning.” However, none...

The summer movie season is upon us. Ryan Gosling’s new film from David Leitch is a love letter to the stunt world and the promotion for the film has seen a lot of fun developments. Gosling and SNL cast member Mikey Day reprise their roles from the viral sketch where they resemble Beavis and Butt-head for the premiere. Additionally, the red carpet would feature some amazing live sequences from stunt performers, as well as Gosling fighting off a number of henchmen while appearing on talk shows.
Deadline has reported that the new action movie has kicked off its run on Thursday with $3.15M from showtimes that began at 5Pm as well as Wednesday advance screenings. Analysts expect The Fall Guy to reach $30M+ in its opening gambit, with some studio execs saying the film could reach $35-40 million. Ryan Gosling celebrated the Hollywood premiere of his new movie The Fall Guy by bringing back his viral Saturday Night Live character, who looks like Beavis. After walking the red carpet in a more traditional suit with co-star Emily Blunt, Gosling returned in costume alongside SNL cast member Mikey Day, who was dressed like Butt-Head.
The duo’s live-action versions of Beavis and Butt-Head first appeared in an SNL sketch that aired during the April 13 episode, which Gosling hosted. In the skit, Heidi Gardner played a news anchor interviewing...

"La, la, la, laaaa, la. La, la, la, laaaa, la."
Great news for the sardonic, sarcastic, and rejected members of the Esteemers, because Mondo is releasing the first-ever, official, on-model figures based on the hit MTV show and cultural institution, "Daria." The adult animated sitcom created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn was famously a spin-off of Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head," with Tracy Grandstaff reprising her role as the intelligent, cynical Daria Morgendorffer as she navigates her new high school in Lawndale.
"Daria" was a satirical look at suburban America and the high school experience, with the titular character and best friend Jane Lane's borderline misanthropic criticisms doubling as the vocalized interior thoughts of Gen X and elder millennials as they came of age. While Beavis and Butt-Head were oblivious idiots whose existence provided a commentary on the way the world mistakenly viewed teenagers because they didn't understand them,...

Peacock has unveiled the trailer for In the Know, the NBCUniversal-backed streamer’s first adult animation series.
And, it’s awkward.
The cringe cartoon comedy from Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head) and Greg Daniels (King of the Hill) aims at laughter from uncomfortable interviews with live guests like Hugh Laurie, Tegan and Sara, Mike Tyson and Jonathan Van Ness.
In The Know — co-created by Zach Woods (Silicon Valley, The Office), Brandon Gardner and Judge — blends stop-motion animation with live-action interviews of guests like Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Nicole Byer, Roxane Gay and Jorge Masvidal.
The semi-animated series’ interviewer is Lauren Caspian, “NPR’s third most-popular host,” according to a Peacock synopsis, a stop-motion puppet and intellectual blowhard forever embarrassing himself on air in front of real world guests.
“I’m sexually attracted to ideas. I once got an erection from reading Plato’s The Cave,...

U.K. broadcaster industry Channel 4 has launched a new program aimed at improving off-screen diversity in the post-production sector.
The 4Pp (4 Post Production) initiative will offer five mid to senior-level individuals from underrepresented backgrounds a six-month program of bespoke skills gap training, mentoring from senior figures in the industry and shadowing and placement opportunities.
Developed in partnership with dialogue editor and dubbing mixer Emma Butt, who has over 12 years of experience in the industry and recently wrote a paper on the lack of diversity in the post-production sound sector in TV, the program is the first of its kind. The initiative was created following a panel session hosted by Channel 4 and Butt earlier this year, which discussed diversity, equity and inclusion in post-production.
Successful applicants will be mentored by Butt and other leading industry professionals throughout the program, funded by Channel 4’s training and development strategy, 4Skills. The positions...

While previous incarnations of Salem Horror Fest occured in tourist-heavy October, this year’s sixth installment smoothly shifted to two weekends in April. The official selections include 20 features and 37 shorts, along with repertory programming, celebrity guests, live podcasts, panels, after parties, and more.
Here’s what I saw at this year’s event…
Bury the Bride
After making his feature directorial debut with last year’s horror anthology Allegoria, Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One returns with Bury the Bride, exhibiting considerable growth as a filmmaker in a short span of time. He channels a redneck-fueled grit similar to his elder brother Rob Zombie’s ourve, particularly The Devil’s Rejects, coupled with Quentin Tarantino-esque idiosyncrasies.
The film follows bride-to-be June along with her older sister (co-writer Krsy Fox) and three of her closest friends into the California desert for a bachelorette party at a rural house owned by her mysterious fiance,...

“Saturday Night Live” kicked off its latest episode by tackling former President Donald Trump’s visit to East Palestine, Ohio, the site of a horrific train derailment. Flanked by supposed East Palestine residents, James Austin Johnson’s Trump carried the cold open with a hilariously meandering address, true to Trump form, during which he said he felt like he could “’Schitt’s Creek’ this place,” referring to the Emmy-winning sitcom about a small town.
“Hello it’s wonderful to be here in the town of East Palestine, not a great name,” he began. “I had to come here and see all these wonderful people who have been abandoned by Biden.”
Johnson’s Trump continued: “Earlier today a farmer came up to me, big fella, and he said, ‘Sir, we have nothing to eat because our dirt is poisoned,’ and I said, ‘What are you doing eating the dirt?’ Don’t eat the dirt folks.

Karachi, Aug 15 (Ians) Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt believes that Rohit Sharma’s India will be one of the firm favourites to win the Asia Cup cricket tournament, starting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this month.
“Yes, they can win the Asia Cup. Do they lack Vitamin C (laughs)? The type of cricket they are playing, the pool of players they have, they are giving exposure of international cricket to a lot of players, people will consider them as favourites,” Butt was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
India have won the tournament seven times and will be going for the eighth crown when they start their campaign against Babar Azam’s Pakistan on August 28. India last won the title in 2018, beating Bangladesh in a nail-biting final.
He said that other teams — namely Pakistan, which has won the title twice, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh too have their chances.

The iconic animated duo Beavis and Butt-Head are back to the delight of fans after the Paramount+ premiere of ‘Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head’ on August 4. They haven’t changed much since viewers last saw them, but their inane adventures have indeed scored with a good portion of critics and viewers alike. The result is a 100 freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes and some glowing reviews. Heh. Heh. Scored. But what exactly did the critics think?
Daniel Feinberg of the Hollywood Reporter begins by stating that Beavis and Butt-head are essentially “a template for 21st-century trolling that would not exist without Mike Judge.” Truer words were never spoken. But what exactly is the idiotic duo doing this time around? “Through the two half-hour episodes sent to critics, the answer is that Beavis and Butt-Head are predictably watching a lot of TikTok and they’re rather hilarious doing so.” Feinberg continues,...

When we last left Beavis and Butt-Head, the animated teenage miscreants from Highland, Texas who dominated MTV for much of the ’90s, they were plunked down in 2022, thanks to the wormhole that powered the sci-fi plotting of June’s Paramount+ movie “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.” “Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head,” a nominal follow-up to that movie and de facto ninth season of the TV show that inspired it, makes no specific mention of this — though based on some small technological details (and the streaming content they consume), the boys have indeed remained in our time. In the first two episodes of this new season, it doesn’t look much different from their time. Beavis and Butt-Head have a tendency to mold their environment in their image. Or are they just so timelessly American that surprisingly little adaptation is necessary? Are we in the same collective stasis as...
