John has been in the shooting and martial arts worlds for many years.
He started hunting and sport shooting as a child, then to the military,
and from there, into the Security and Law Enforcement community. He has
seen combat in Iraq, helped the less fortunate in El Salvador, and
protected government dignitaries as well as A-list celebrities.
John grew up in Texas, hunting and sport shooting on the weekends not only at his best friend's ranch, but also in the Boy Scouts of America. At age 7 he also began studying martial arts; an activity that has continued to this today.
In the various components of the US Army, from Active Duty to the Guard and Reserve, John saw many different countries and was twice deployed to combat in Iraq, including the invasion in 2003 and conducting Convoy Security Operations in 2009. As an Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer, he led missions as well as assisted with training classes and exercises on many occasions in the units he was assigned to. He was also assigned stateside to a Special Response Unit that was tasked to assist in WMD response, Search and Rescue, and Counter Drug Operations.
John has also served in the security industry for many years operating as an armed officer, executive protection agent, asset protection consultant, operations manager, special response team leader and trainer. As an Instructor, he has taught many different types of students including Law Enforcement, Military Members and Celebrities. He has taught personal protection, concealed carry, defensive tactics as well as pistol and carbine classes. He brings a passion for teaching students to survive in the most demanding of situations.
