Aretha Franklin fans say Fox News should have showed more R-e-s-p-e-c-t after it used an image of Patti Labelle on Thursday in an image used to report Franklin’s death.
The error was caught by online observers who noticed that the picture at the end of the obit featured Labelle singing “Over the Rainbow” during a “Women of Soul: In Performance at the White House” special, which aired on PBS in 2014.
The image featured Franklin in the foreground and Labelle in the background.
“We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends,” Jessica Santostefano, Vice President, Media Desk at Fox News told TheWrap in a statement. “Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti Labelle in the full screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret.”

Donald Trump is facing backlash after an Irish reporter shared a video of the president singling her out to compliment her smile during a phone call with Ireland’s new prime minister.
Caitriona Perry, the Washington correspondent for Irish public broadcaster Rte, described being singled out by the president in the Oval Office Tuesday as a “bizarre moment.”
Trump congratulated Taoiseach Leo Varadkar on his victory before telling him over the phone, “We have a lot of your Irish press watching us,” and beckoned Perry over with his finger.
“And where are you from? Go ahead, come here, come here.

NBC’s reboot of “Celebrity Apprentice,“ with new host Arnold Schwarzenegger, wasn’t exactly a ratings killer. But as the network decides whether to renew the show, it faces another problem: Half its sponsors from last season have bailed out after boycott threats. A campaign called #GrabYourWallet, which called on sponsors to abandon the show because of President Donald Trump’s involvement with it, said six of the show’s 12 corporate backers from last season have agreed not to return. None of the companies explicitly cited Trump as their reason, but campaign organizer Shannon Coulter says the gold-plated writing is on the wall.

Shoppers on Neiman Marcus’ website will no longer be able to purchase a $12,000 diamond bracelet designed by Ivanka Trump.
The bracelet was reportedly one of more than a dozen jewelry and accessory items designed by the First Daughter that have vanished from the tony retailer’s site with no explanation. Neiman Marcus did not respond to a request for comment.
Their disappearance comes soon after Nordstrom’s announcement Thursday that it had decided not to sell Ivanka Trump’s products for the spring season, due to poor sales. Nordstrom had primarily sold her shoes online.

Ivanka Trump is continuing to support her father Donald Trump’s presidential campaign following his “locker room talk” and multiple sexual assault allegations, but not without significant backlash. Shoppers are now boycotting her clothing and accessories line, Ivanka Trump Collection, and using the hashtag #grabyourwallet (a reference to her father’s language in the “hot mic” tape) to make their protest known. And they aren’t just refusing to buy her clothes: They’re also declining to shop at retailers that carry the line until her merchandise is pulled from shelves.
