Women’s basketball interest is growing so fast, even the WNBA can’t keep up.
On Friday night, the Chicago Sky faced the Minnesota Lynx in their preseason opener. The game was of major interest to followers of women’s basketball, as it featured the league debuts of prominent rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
The WNBA’s streaming app did not air the game, despite listing that all preseason tilts would be watchable from the app.
That’s when a fan, @heyheyitsalli, stepped in and began livestreaming the game on their cell phone while attending the game in Minneapolis. The livestream quickly exploded past the 400,000 views mark.
The game ended in a 92-81 win for the Minnesota Lynx.
The WNBA later clarified that only Caitlin Clark’s debut with the Indiana Fever was being broadcast on the app.

Ever since the release of HBO’s eight-seasoned highly anticipated Game of Thrones in 2011, the series gave birth to several fan discussions and theories. Considering Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen as one of the most influential characters in the show, there sparked a debate surrounding her, that still hasn’t died down, years later.
Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen
Apart from gaining global fame, Emilia Clarke’s journey as Daenerys Targaryen struck a chord in many fans’ hearts, who then turned her into the HBO show’s most-loved character. However, despite her good deeds and loving nature, the last season saw Daenerys struggling to fit in at Winterfell as if the North didn’t care about her sacrifices. This particular behavior sparked debate among Redditors about whether or not she sacrificed for the North.

Caitlin Clark picked up where she left off in her college career. Playing in her first WNBA preseason game as an Indiana Fever guard, the all-time NCAA scoring leader hit a deep 3-pointer for her first bucket as a professional.
It was part of a night in which she scored a team-high 21 points in a 79-76 loss to the Dallas Wings in a preseason game. Despite the low stakes – Clark didn’t play much in the second half – she stood out in front of the sold-out crowd at College Park Center in Dallas.
“My biggest goal coming into tonight was to continue to be myself, play aggressive,” Clark said after the game, according to the Associated Press. “I thought that’s what I did. I think there’s a lot to be proud of.

Christopher Reeve’s Superman is most people’s definitive portrayal of the character. Richard Donner successfully balanced the superheroic aspects of the character along with the nerdy charm of his alter ego Clark Kent. The success of the first film led to Reeve returning for three sequels.
Christopher Reeve as Superman in 1978’s Superman
Donner’s Superman has been the benchmark that every other iteration of the character aims to achieve. However, Superman II did not see the return of Donner and many of his intended scenes did not feature in the theatrical film. An interesting but flawed deleted scene featuring Lois and Clark has fans relived that it did make it into the final cut.

Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes introduced us not just to the ape protagonist, Caesar, but also to his human co-protagonist Dr. Will Rodman, played by James Franco. The first film in the successful Planet of the Apes trilogy centered around how Will adopted Caesar who gets increased intelligence from the Alz-112 drug. Will survives the tragic events of the film, but it initially had planned a different climax for Franco’s character.

In the theatrical climax, Will finds Caesar and begs him to come home, but the latter prefers to stay with his new community of intelligent apes in the forest. Will’s fate is left to the viewer’s imagination as the deadly Alz-113 begins to spread among humans in the end.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was a changed show in its second season. In its early days, the Marvel Television series suffered from an identity crisis. Season 1 started out trying to emulate co-creator Joss Whedon's previous work, yet it played as a pale imitation of shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and especially "Firefly," following a ragtag team of misfits on weekly adventures in their flying home base. However, the one-two combo punch of Whedon stepping away from the series and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" blowing up the Marvel Cinematic Universe's status quo near the end of season 1 proved to be just the creative boost the show needed.
Upon returning for season 2, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had gained a newfound confidence. Its characters began to take on greater dimensions, it really embraced the idea of being a show about everyday people trying to keep the world safe, and it even started...

Annie Clark displays a remarkable facility for change, creating constantly morphing songs contained within a shifting panoply of modes, voices, and styles, cutting delicate, glittering pop with forceful fuzz and raunchy, preening guitar work. A multi-instrumentalist with a history of institutional training and anonymous backing-band work, she retains the guitar as her signature instrument and most potent tool, lacerating otherwise divine music with down-and-dirty grit, eyes heavenward and feet muddy.
The gradual expansion of sounds and textures occurring across her seven solo albums as St. Vincent has been accompanied by an inverse sense of simplification, the fine-tuning of music that’s grown less theatrical and more precise, imagery and language filed down to a sharp point. To celebrate the release of her latest release, All Born Screaming, we’ve ranked all eight of the musician’s albums, including her one-off collaboration with David Byrne.

The setting for Illinoise, Justin Peck and Jackie Sibblies Drury’s emotionally supercharged reinterpretation of the 2005 Sufjan Stevens concept album, is various locations across the Land of Lincoln — a cornfield, a hiking trail, a woodland clearing, the suburban home of a serial killer, a small town in the middle of nowhere, the top of a skyscraper and, of course, Chicago, with an out-of-state detour to New York City. But the real setting of this thrilling dance-musical-concert hybrid, alternately rhapsodic and shattering, is our collective youth.
Without a word of spoken dialogue, the show pulls us into late adolescence, a time when love, anguish and everything in between are felt perhaps with the greatest intensity. The book co-written by director-choreographer Peck and Drury (who won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama with her brilliant meta-theatrical race inquiry, Fairview) is skillfully shaped yet invisible in the best sense of undiluted physical, sensorial and elemental storytelling.

Fans await the cast reveal for Dancing with the Stars Season 33, as each season brings various stars from acting, singing, social media, and sports.
Many sports stars have captured the coveted Mirrorball Trophy, now named the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, in the late DWTS judge’s honor.
Rumors suggested the show’s producers wanted to score big by bringing basketball superstar Caitlin Clark in for the upcoming season.
Clark captured much attention throughout the college basketball season, and DWTS desperately wanted her as part of the cast.
However, an insider says despite them “bending over backwards” to get Clark on the show, she “respectfully declined.”
That was due to Clark having other things to focus on, including her basketball career, and she has her eye on a few shows on which she’d prefer to appear.

St. Vincent’s seventh studio album, All Born Screaming, has arrived.

Netflix just got a touch more supernatural with the arrival of “Dead Boy Detectives” where the veil between the worlds thins. This chilling new series isn’t a typical detective show. The seventh album that singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark has released as St. Vincent teems with the kind of visceral imagery that sticks with you long after her songs fade out. There’s a “hungry little flea” ready to infect your “warm body,” a predator on the street turning aggression into an evil blues promise, a sink that runs red, a head that won’t stop banging, a dream that ends in hell. “I feel like graffiti on a urinal,” she sings. Hey, we’ve all been there.

In the 90 years since his creation, Superman has had many different versions. There have been many to stand out from these, for good and bad reasons. Perhaps one of the most controversial has to be Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, which is a darker version of the character. While many fans loved the fresher approach, there were many fundamental changes made that completely went against the character’s philosophy.

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has been regarded as one of the best and most controversial films in the history of the DC Universe. It has a very interesting approach to an origin story that has been the same for decades. However, while some of the changes worked very well, others were rather controversial.
Man of Steel
The perfect example of a change that was not well-received by fans was the fate of Jonathan Kent in the film. Audiences were not happy when Clark Kent’s father was killed because of a tornado—not because they did not want him to die, but because of the reason that was given for his death.
Suggested“I have the power to do it”: Zack Snyder Defends Controversial Man of Steel Scene that Killed Off a Fan-Favorite Character
Despite this, Snyder has stood by the decision, even after a decade has passed.

Superman has always been the most hopeful and powerful hero, whether it is about DC, or Marvel. With the many adaptations of the Kryptonian hero, some get regarded as masterpieces while others die before they can even reach the surface. Adaptations find key elements that please the audiences and the DC Animated Universe is by far excelling the most in that.

There are now numerous ways for Fever fans to watch the No. 1 overall pick’s rookie season.
Outside of a handful of NFL narratives, the biggest story in all of sports this season has been the ascendency of Caitlin Clark to the top of the women’s basketball and sporting worlds. Last week she was taken No. 1 overall in the WNBA draft by the perennial bottom-dwelling Indiana Fever, a move considered such a foregone conclusion that the league’s broadcast partners were already lining up to get the team's games in front of national audiences as much as possible this summer. Now local fans are going to be getting an extra helping of Fever action, as a selection of the team’s games will be coming to free, over-the-air broadcast channels this season.

You just can't keep those damn dirty apes down. 10 years after Tim Burton's 2001 "Planet of the Apes" re-imagining failed to reignite audiences' passion for stories about intellectually-enhanced simians, the long-running sci-fi franchise made an unexpectedly strong comeback with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." Director Rupert Wyatt's entry in the series is now generally considered the weakest of the modern "Apes" trilogy, which is more of a testament to what Matt Reeves was able to accomplish with his subsequent sequels than necessarily a knock against Wyatt's film. "Rise" itself makes for an effective cautionary tale about humanity's hubris, our lack of compassion toward other living beings, and our habit of being our own worst enemy, as seen through the eyes of its co-protagonist, Caesar (Andy Serkis in his touchstone motion-capture role).
Yes, it's easy to forget that Caesar wasn't originally the singular lead of his own story.

“This revolution isn’t fun,” Annie Clark sings toward the end of All Born Screaming. That lyric might be an apt descriptor for St. Vincent’s seventh studio album—if it wasn’t such a thrill. The album finds Clark at her most fragile and ferocious, seeking beauty among the waste and wreckage of 21st-century life. Itself a beautifully ugly thing, All Born Screaming is a visceral examination of art and nature when both are pushed to the brink.
The ominously titled opening track, “Hell Is Near,” begins with the sound of war drums. Zack Snyder’s tenure in tee Dcu has been divisive and controversial as he presented DC characters with a certain edge that was not accepted by fans. His presentation of idealistic characters like Superman and Batman being put in dire circumstances provoking them to kill other beings was not something that audiences were not ready to see.
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel
Nevertheless, there have been Snyder loyalists who have defended his edgier take on characters and breaking previously established norms of the DC characters. Right from Man of Steel, Snyder took chances with the Superman lore with a controversial approach to Jonathan Kent’s death scene. Snyder defended this as an important step in Clark Kent’s evolution into being Superman.

Caitlin Clark can earn up to $500,000 during her rookie season, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has claimed in an effort to quell outrage on the No. 1 draft choice’s low base salary.
The former Iowa star will make just $76,535 in base salary from the Indiana Fever, part of a four-year, $338,056 deal with the team. When that was revealed, outrage ensued, as the base is much lower than a comparable NBA amount.
Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in last year’s NBA draft, signeda four-year, $55.2 million rookie contract, the largest possible deal under the NBA’s current labor agreement. That comes to roughly $12 million in base salary as a rookie.
Engelbert has now clarified that Clark will likely make far more.
“[For a] CEO, do you just put the base pay in there? No, you put their bonus, you put their stock options, you put everything,” Engelbert said at a CNBC Changemakers event, according to NJ.

Here is what the reporter said and how the fans reacted to the comment.

The idea is that Clark will become one of the most impactful women in the WNBA and might shine a light on the women’s league. Just days after President Joe Biden decried the wage disparity between female and male athletes, Whoopi Goldberg said on ABC’s The View that ESPN should “sweeten” its deal for the broadcast rights of WNBA games.
After pointing out the Clark will make an initial annual salary of $76,535 as a player for the Indiana Fever, Goldberg then noted, “The entire Fever payroll is $1.2 million. That is less than the minimum salary for a single NBA player with a year’s experience.”
The women players, Goldberg continued, “have the headlines, they have the fans, they have the viewers, when the hell are they going to get paid?” Noting that ESPN and ABC are both part of the “Disney thing,” Goldberg added that ESPN “should have kissed this deal by taking care of all of the WNBA and given them enough money for a bump up because you know you have another deal to make.

More than 2.4 million people tuned in to ESPN to watch some or all of the 2024 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft, according to preliminary viewership figures released by Nielsen on Tuesday.
The event was the most-watched WNBA Draft ever, according to officials at ESPN, with interest fueled in large part by basketball star Caitlin Clark, who was drafted to the Indiana Fever on Monday.
Across ESPN platforms, nearly 3.1 million people tuned in at the draft’s peak, the network said. It was the most-watched program of the evening among people under the age of 35, and nearly 1.1 million women tuned in to watch some or all of the event, ESPN said.
On social media, ESPN saw a 1,164 percent increase in engagement during the 2024 WNBA Draft compared to 2022, the network affirmed.

Fans may be anticipating James Gunn’s take on the Superman movie, but there’s another show that definitely puts a lot of twist in it, and that’s My Adventures with Superman animated series. The shonen anime-inspired project sees Clark Kent, voiced by Jack Quaid, as he juggles life as a superhero and his work at the Daily Planet.
My Adventures With Superman
Many hated the show, particularly Lois Lane’s portrayal, but executive producer Jake Wyatt thinks she’s “the Batman” in her relationship with Kent. What’s the deal with Lane, and why is everyone hating on her?

In an interview with Comicsbeat, executive producers Jake Wyatt and Josie Campbell talked about Lois Lane in My Adventures with Superman. The latter claimed they pitched it as a rom-com with punching, and they also watched the ‘70s Superman film.

Voice actors always have an important role to play in animated media franchises. Their job is to express the emotions that their characters are feeling only with their voices and it requires an incredible amount of skill and perfection to be able to do it consistently.

Dakota Johnson is a passenger in both life and a yellow taxi cab, seeking connection with whomever is most near. For her, that turns out to be crass driver Clark, played by Sean Penn in the two-hander drama “Daddio.”

Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the main official trailer for the indie film titled Daddio, marking the feature debut of the newcomer filmmaker Christy Hall. This initially premiered at both the 2023 Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals last fall. It's currently set for a release in select theaters starting in late June this summer. The New York City drama is set entirely in a taxi cab departing from JFK airport. A young woman jumps into the backseat of a yellow taxi, the cabbie throws the vehicle into drive as the two head out into the night toward Manhattan, striking up the most unexpected conversation resulting in a single, epic, remarkable journey. Dakota Johnson stars as Girlie, and Sean Penn co-stars as the driver Clark, described as a "curbside philosopher." I'm actually very curious to watch this, to see where their conversation goes...

Caitlin Clark, who helped grow the popularity of women’s basketball with her record-breaking college career at the University of Iowa, was the most no-brainer pick of the WNBA Draft on Monday, going No. 1 to the Indiana Fever.
The league will waste no time putting Clark front and center: The regular season begins May 14 with a doubleheader on ESPN2 leading off with Indiana against Connecticut, the first of a full slate of Fever games slated for national broadcasts.
Clark led Iowa to back-to-back NCAA women’s national championship games, most recently earlier this month when the Hawkeyes lost to undefeated South Carolina in the title game, a matchup that drew more viewers than the men’s finale for the first time ever and drew 18.7 million viewers.

Collegiate women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment with Colin Jost and Michael Che.
Before Clark came on set, Che joked: “The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron.”
Clark, who plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is regarded as one of the greatest college basketball players ever. While waiting to hear her name called for the WNBA draft, Clark performed a skit in which she called out Che for mocking women’s sports and the WNBA.
She then revealed that she “wrote some jokes” for Che to hear and had him read them out loud.
Clark responded, “You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports, don’t you, Michael?”
Che then read Clark’s jokes, starting with, “The Indiana Fever has the first pick in this Monday’s draft.

What Kevin Conroy was for Batman, Tim Daly was for Superman, who voiced the character in the ’90s Superman: The Animated Series. While the show itself isn’t as fondly remembered as Batman: The Animated Series, whose success paved the way for the show on the first hand, Daly did hit it out of the park with his performance as Clark Kent.

It's been nine months since both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" released in theaters, but poor Ryan Gosling still struggles to let the event go. So he decided to bring out the ol' piano for his "Saturday Night Live" monologue and sing an ode to Ken, paying tribute to that neon rollerblading outfit and ridiculous fur coat. The song was sung to the tune of Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," which Swift famously sung in its 10-minute entirety on "SNL" back in 2021. The relevance of "All Too Well" to the bit doesn't stop there: it's also the song Gosling's character cries to in the trailer for his new movie, "The Fall Guy," a movie that's basically Gosling's entire reason for hosting this time around.
Showing up mid-musical number was "The Fall Guy" co-star Emily Blunt, urging Gosling to let "Barbie" go and focus on their new project together. But much like Gosling can't let Ken go,...
