20th Century Fox and Davis Entertainment are planning a new film adaptation of Alan Moore's acclaimed historical fantasy comic series "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen".
The first volume of the original work is set in a steampunk Victorian London where literary characters are real. In the story Mina Murray, Allan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man and Dr. Jekyll team up to stop a war between two tyrannical villains (James Moriarty, Fu Manchu) for control of London.
The work was previously and very loosely adapted in 2003 into a feature that proved to be Sean Connery's final appearance in a live-action film. The hope was the film would launch a franchise, but reviews were bad and the film pulled in only $180 million worldwide.
An attempt was made to adapt the property into a TV series in 2013, but the show was not ordered to series. John Davis is on board...

Alan Moore will be delighted! After one disastrous movie and a TV series attempt back in 2013, Fox is having another crack at the notoriously grouchy writer's The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. According to Variety (confirming a report from The Tracking Board), the studio is planning another big-screen outing for Allan Quatermain, Mina Harker, Dr. Jekyll and the rest of the motley crew of Victorian-era literary icons. There are three full volumes of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and several accompanying miniseries too, so Fox will have plenty to mine from. The later stories saw the introduction of characters as diverse as Sherlock Holmes, Mary Poppins, and even a demonic incarnation of Harry Potter. John Davis is producing through his Davis Entertainment banner, with Ira Napoliello and Matt Reilly overseeing production of the reboot.

Fox is taking another crack at Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The Tracking Board is reporting that a new film based on the comic is in the works, with Ira Napoliello, Matt Reilly and Davis Entertainment's John Davis producing. TB says Fox is "looking to nail the new adaptation of League, and is currently looking for a director to continue to develop the reboot." The reboot will have no connection to the 2003 big screen adaptation,...

20th Century Fox has plans to reboot 2003's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Variety reports. John Davis is set to produce, and Ira Napoliello and Matt Reilly are helping facilitate the project. Like the flick with Sean Connery, this one will be based on Alan Moore, Kevin O'Neill, and Bill Oakley's comic-book series, which essentially had literary characters turn into steampunk Avengers and kick ass together in Victorian England. The 2003 movie was Connery's last live-action commitment before he retired, so he probably won't be coming back for this one as Allan Quatermain. But that doesn't mean we can't dream.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is the latest property to join the queue of forthcoming reboots.
According to Variety, 20th Century Fox is planning to remake Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's graphic novel of the same name which started in 1999.
John Davis, Ira Napoliello and Matt Reilly will oversee the project, which centres on characters from Victorian fiction such as Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Sean Connery starred in the 2003 movie - his last lead movie role before retiring - alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Peta Wilson, Tony Curran, Stuart Townsend, Shane West, Jason Flemyng and Richard Roxburgh.
In 2013, a put pilot television adaptation of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was developed but never made it to series.

20th Century Fox is taking another stab at turning Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen into a film franchise, it was reported today. Ah, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That much-maligned 2003 superhero effort, spawned from Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s graphic novels, that failed to generate much love either from fans, critics or – given its eventual $179 million global haul from a $78 million budget, not counting marketing – the box office bean counters. 20th Century Fox thinks there’s life in the property yet and is trying another movie. Moore and O’Neil’s alt-history stories follow a group of literary characters – Alan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, Doctor Jekyll and Dracula’s Mina Harker among them – as they band together to fight off monstrous threats to the realm. It would seem to be fertile fodder for a movie, but that first attempt, which had Stephen Norrington directing a cast including Sean Connery and Jason Flemyng, just didn’t seem able to take full advantage of it. According to Deadline, Fox has a producing team including Ira Napoliello,...

Don't blame the Feds for stealing Christmas. Multiple reports this week claimed that government officials descended upon Montville, N.J., to raid Joe and Teresa Giudice's multimillion-dollar mansion — but both the U.S. Attorney's office and Joe's lawyer deny that any such drama went down. "We weren't involved in anything over there," Matt Reilly, a spokesperson from the U.S. Attorney's office, tells Us Weekly of rumors that the government seized jewelry, electronics, and other valuables in an hours-long search of the Bravo stars' property on Monday, Dec. 15. Asked [...]...
