Drew Carey isn’t the same man he was before he attended his first Phish concert. The psychedelic rock band’s shows are trippy enough on their own, but they recently completed a run of shows at the new Las Vegas Sphere venue, a wholly immersive location with LED screens for walls. That twisted combination triggered a rebirth in the comedian. (And Phish thanked him for it.)
“I swear I just talked to God,” Carey posted on X (formerly Twitter) after the show. “Would give you all my money, stick my dick in a blender,...

The audience, host, and celebrity guests weren’t ready for Drew Carey’s crazy description of a Phish concert during his late-night television appearance!
The 65-year-old actor and comedian currently appears as the host of the daytime game show The Price Is Right.
However, he was recently up for a late-night guest spot on After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson.
Carey appeared as a guest on the show along with singer Weird Al Yankovic and actor Thomas Lennon.
During The Talk Show part of Tomlinson’s show, she asked Carey what he would share if the cameras weren’t filming him at the moment.
From there, the former star of The Drew Carey Show told an outlandish story about his wild experience at a Phish concert.

After well over a decade in the spotlight, Community star Gillian Jacobs surely must get tired of people mangling her first name, which is pronounced with a hard G — as in “gall.” Which is exactly what After Midnight’s closed captioning system, or the people behind it, exhibited when Jacobs introduced herself on Monday night’s show.
After a brief introduction from After Midnight host Taylor Tomlinson, Jacobs greeted the crowd with a quick primer on exactly how to pronounce her name: “Yes, I’m Gillian Jacobs,” she said. “That’s hard G, soft J, but the vibe is just right.”
It was an innocuous enough statement… unless you were reading the closed captions.
As first spotted by one eagle-eyed Redditor who was able to snap a quick pic, the vibe may have seemed a bit more salacious if you weren’t actually listening to Jacobs speak.

As you've no doubt heard by now, the royal family is in a state of crisis.
After removing herself from public life for several months, Kate Middleton announced last week that she has cancer.
The Princess of Wales didn't go into specifics with regard to the severity of her condition or the organs affected, but anyone who's ever experienced the ravages of cancer -- either firsthand or by witnessing a loved one's battle -- knows that it's a horrible disease that extracts a devastating toll.
In other words, it's nothing to joke about, which is why Stephen Colbert issued an apology to Kate and her family this week.
In case you missed it, Colbert -- like just about every other public figure in the Western world -- commented on Kate's disappearance and offered some lighthearted speculation about the possible causes.
The clip above is from a monologue that Colbert delivered two weeks ago,...

Alongside Jimmy Fallon, he was one of only two late-night hosts who kept the lights on last week, but now it’s Jimmy Kimmel’s turn to take a break. His show will be in repeats all week.
Returning from vacation tonight are Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Taylor Tomlinson, and Jon Stewart at the Daily Show.
With the NCAA regional semifinals airing on CBS Thursday night, Colbert and Tomlinson will see their time slots pushed back and will both air repeats that night.
Also taking the week off is Andy Cohen. Rather than showing repeats, Watch What Happens will be pre-empted with repeat episodes of the cable network’s usual reality fare.
Both Kimmel and Cohen are expected to be back in their respective chairs next week.

There’s no question that the traditonal broadcast networks are facing unique challenges when it comes to ad sales these days, but one new company is trying to shake up the status quo, and they’re dabbling with CBS in late night.
B-to-b advertisers haven’t historically had much of a presence on broadcast TV, as they’re typically considered a niche sector of the ad business. But these advertisers have money to spend, and as Briain Steinberg at Variety reports today, they stand to benefit from an association with CBS talent.
One of CBS’ buzzier shows on social media right now is After Midnight, which is hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, who boasts 1.6 million followers on Instagram and 2.6 million followers on TikTok.
Advertisers such as Codingscape, a technology consultant, view Tomlinson and the viral clips her show generates as a way to reach new, social media savvy customers.

Taylor Tomlinson has proven herself to be a big draw among younger crowds and those savvy with social media. Now CBS hopes the new “After Midnight” host will have similar appeal with a decidedly niche sector: B-to-b advertisers.
The network is trying to develop partnerships with a cluster of marketers that typically find their customers among decision-making executives at corporations. One such advertiser is Codingscape, a technology consultant that sees an alliance with Tomlinson as something that will help get potential clients to view the company as innovative. Instead of putting traditional TV ads on Tomlinson’s late-night show, however, Codingscape wants to run digital ads with its message posted alongside clips of her in action.
“This is a B-to-b that people haven’t heard of,” says Alan Gould, co-ceo of MutualMarkets, a tech upstart that has developed a system for pairing advertisers with TV programs that suit their products,...

Exclusive: Change is afoot at Funny or Die, Deadline has learned, with Kathy Goodman now to serve as CEO of the esteemed comedy studio.
After serving as Senior Advisor to owner Henry R. Muñoz III since his acquisition of the company several years back, Goodman steps into the role of Mike Farah, who soon will depart Funny or Die after a run of more than 15½ years. Also departing is Joe Farrell, who has been with the company for nearly 13 years, serving as Chief Creative Officer for the past few.
While transitioning out of their current executive roles, Farah and Farrell will remain executive producers on After Midnight, CBS’s recently launched late-night game show hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, and continue to produce the slate of projects they’ve created. Tig Notaro is heading back to Amazon — and live action — for her latest comedy special. Prime Video will debut Tig Notaro: Hello Again this March.
The new hour marks Notaro’s first project at Amazon since the end of her two-season Prime Video comedy One Mississippi in 2017 and her first flesh-and-blood taping in nearly six years. Her last special, Tig Notaro: Drawn, made history as the first fully animated stand-up special when it landed on HBO in 2022.
Hello Again follows Drawn, as well as other previous specials 2018’s Happy to Be Here and 2015’s Boyish Girl Interrupted. It is described as including “delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.”

As anyone who’s laughed uncomfortably at Taylor Tomlinson’s “dead mom” jokes is well aware, her mother died of cancer when she was eight years old. Miley Cyrus took home one of the night’s top prizes, record of the year, at the 2024 Grammys for “Flowers,” presented by Meryl Streep and her son-in-law, Mark Ronson.
Streep kicked off the presentation by saying they would be presenting the best album of the year, because a record is an album. Then Ronson explained that is not what the award is. It actually recognizes everything that goes into making a song, including artists, producers, recording engineers, mixers and mastering engineers.
“Flowers” producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson; engineers/mixers Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam and Mark “Spike” Stent; and mastering engineer Joe Laporta were also recognized for the award.
“Thank you all so much,” Cyrus began her acceptance speech. “This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.

Music icons who died in the last year — from Tina Turner to Tony Bennett — will be honored at Sunday’s 2024 Grammys with performances by Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Fantasia Barrino and Jon Batiste.
A source close to the situation tells The Hollywood Reporter that Barrino, on the heels of her success in The Color Purple, will honor Turner with a performance, which will be introduced by Color Purple producer Oprah Winfrey, who was announced as a Grammy presenter earlier this week. Sorry to break your soul, but Beyoncé is not performing at Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
A representative for the superstar confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter after social media has been fueled with rumors that she is set to hit the stage to honor late icon Tina Turner.
Last month, the Australian Today ahow tweeted that Beyoncé would pay tribute to Turner onstage, and since then the news has circulated on X (formerly known as Twitter), leaving many to believe it’s true. Turner died last May after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
At the 2008 Grammys, Beyoncé and Turner gave an explosive performance of “Proud Mary.” When Turned died, Beyoncé shared a photo of herself with the legend on her website and wrote: “My beloved queen. I love you endlessly. I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way.

It’s a weird month on Netflix in February; one that will probably require you to be open-minded about the shows and movies you’re willing to consume on the service.
There are quite a few library TV series arriving this month, for example. If you’re ready to start binge-watching Monk, My Wife and Kids, or acclaimed show Warrior, you’re in luck, as those complete seasons will be available. The Blacklist season 10, Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, Brooklyn Nine-Nine seasons 1-4, and Young Sheldon season 6 will also be hitting the ‘Flix.
In terms of what’s new, there’s a ton of foreign language content and true crime stuff, but original English language stuff will largely be unscripted fare like Love is Blind, which is back for a new season. There are a few bits and bobs on the way outside of that, though. Netflix’s animated movie Orion and the Dark will debut,...

The first week of After Midnight on CBS brought in viewing numbers that are, well, about what would be expected for a network show airing at 12:37 a.m. in 2024.
The show, an expanded and updated take on Comedy Central’s @midnight that’s hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, averaged 579,000 same-day viewers for its first three installments, according to Nielsen. The Jan. 16 premiere drew 686,000 viewers, based on preliminary figures, which would mean the subsequent two episodes averaged about 525,000 viewers.
Delayed viewing numbers are somewhat rosier: After three days (and not including streaming), After Midnight rose to 819,000 viewers for its first week. Its DVR lift of 240,000 viewers is more than three times bigger than that of The Late Late Show With James Corden (77,000) in the 2022-23 season.
After Midnight is CBS’ replacement for The Late Late Show, which ended its 28-year run, the last eight with Corden as host, in April 2023. The...

Jon Stewart to Return as Daily Show Host: Can an Election Year Help Late Night Break Out of Its Rut?
Earlier this month, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers bizarrely predicted that Jimmy Kimmel would be one of the celebrities whose name would appear on the list of Jeffrey Epstein's associates.
However, when the list was eventually made public, Kimmel's name was nowhere to be found.
But not surprisingly, the comic took great offense at Rodgers' allegation, and he berated the football legend-turned-conspiracy theorist in a series of scathing monologues and social media posts.
It was a bizarre series of events that served to highlight the bitter political divisions that have recently torn the US population in two.
It was also the most interesting thing to happen in the world of late-night comedy since Jay Leno kicked Conan O'Brien out of the Tonight Show chair.
Today saw another intriguing development in the world of post-prime time talk shows, as Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios announced that Jon Stewart will...
