They include “Locust,” a first feature film from Taiwanese American multidisciplinary artist Keff that is playing in Critics Week, and Nick Hamm’s epic “William Tell.”
The Plot Pictures CEO Pratixa Shah and head of sales Ozge Conduroglu – who was previously with Starz Play Arabia – are assembling a slate spanning “different genres, regions, and languages,” as Shah put it in statement. “We are agnostic to language and country of origin,” she said, noting that “the hyper local is often what global audiences are looking for, even if it is not local to them.”

She Came Back: Amybeth McNulty of Stranger Things and Anne with an E stars in psychological thriller
About four and a half years ago, it was announced that Amybeth McNulty of the Netflix shows Anne with an E and Stranger Things (although she hadn’t been on Stranger Things yet at the time) had signed on to star in a suspense thriller called Maternal. If you’ve been wondering what happened with that project, we finally have an update to share with you today: Maternal has been retitled She Came Back, and it’s now available to watch through Dark Matter TV, Apple, Vudu, Google Play, and Microsoft Xbox. It can be rented for $3.99 or purchased for $9.99.
Part of the reason for the long delay is the fact that Maternal started filming in early 2020, then the production got disrupted by the pandemic lockdowns. The project had to be put back together at a later date so filming could be finished.

Netflix’s Stranger Things is undoubtedly a pop-culture phenomenon and one of the most popular series that the streaming service released. Ever. A dash of 80s nostalgia combined with a great cast and superb writing, mixing fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and drama, Stranger Things is a series that will definitely go down in history due to the cultural impact it had, but also because it cemented Netflix as one of the major players in the industry.
Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the series premiered on July 15, 2016, and it is currently preparing for its fifth and final season, which is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025. The filming for the upcoming season is heavily underway, and in order to hype up the fans for the upcoming finale, the production has released the first look at Noach Schnapp as Will Byers from the upcoming season. After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

One of the new characters introduced in season 4 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was Argyle, a pothead delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza who helps some of the returning characters get from California back to their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana. But if you were hoping to see actor Eduardo Franco reprise the role of Argyle in Stranger Things season 5, which will be the final season of the show… well, it sounds like you’re in for disappointment. During an interview on the Steve Varley YouTube channel, Franco said it doesn’t look like he’ll be back for the new season.

News has been slowly coming out about the next season of Stranger Things, which has now entered into production this week after a very long wait with the show impacted greatly by the strikes. In a new interview with the YouTube channel Steve Varley, actor Eduardo Franco has said he’s not currently involved in the fifth season likely ruling out the return of Argyle.
As a quick refresher, Argyle was introduced in season 4 following the Byers’ move to California and serves as Jonathan’s best friend throughout the series. The character is best known for his long hair and his job as a pizza delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza. He was an excellent and comedic addition to last season and quickly became a fan favorite.
The actor was interviewed for his recent role on Self-Reliance, which has been streaming on Hulu since January 3rd.

It's been over a year and a half since "Stranger Things" season 4 arrived on Netflix, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of the hit sci-fi series. Plus, there's a bit of a ticking clock on the series, since the teenage cast members, who were just kids when the show began back in 2016, are aging more everyday and don't exactly look like they belong in high school anymore. Thankfully, with the Hollywood strikes resolved and a new year upon us, 2024 is the year that "Stranger Things" goes back into production.
Netflix has officially announced that production has begun on "Stranger Things" season 5. The return of the series was celebrated with an official cast photo showing all the primary characters who will be returning, all seated with series creators Matt & Ross Duffer, including Jamie Campbell Bower as last season's villain Vecna, formerly Henry Creel. The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

They didn’t say which episode he’ll be directing – the premiere, the finale, some episode that will fall in between – but we will be seeing a Trachtenberg-helmed episode somewhere along the line.
Stranger Things season 5 was supposed to be filming right now, but the start of production has been delayed due to the writers strike.
Stranger Things season 4 had the following synopsis: It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for...

Anne With an E garnered quite the attention in a short span. The loose adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables” first came out in 2017 with a three-season run. With 27 episodes released so far, this article dives into things you may have missed about Cole. Until Anne with an E season 2, Anne, played by Amybeth McNulty, was the absolute star of the show. However, out of the blue, Cole Mackenzie entered, adding a whole new dimension to the show. Interestingly, and this may shock those who haven’t read the novel, Cole was created solely for...

It may be comforting that the Stranger Things’ kids can find new love among the horror of Hawkins, Ind., but there’s one major reason why actress Maya Hawke has “mixed” feelings about a potential Robin/Vickie romance in the show’s fifth and final season.
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Hawke stressed the importance of her character’s friendship with Steve (Joe Keery) and expressed concerns that a possible relationship for Robin could cut time with her pal short in the show’s upcoming swan song.

Maya Hawke has some thoughts about where her character might be going in Stranger Things.
Over the course of season four of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, Hawke’s Robin Buckley was crushing on Hawkins High’s marching band clarinetist Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). In the season finale, the two ladies were seen making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for those who were displaced by Vecna’s earthquakes.
The final scene teased there could be a relationship between the two looming, and Hawke isn’t sure how she feels about that. “I don’t know,” the Asteroid City actress told Yahoo! Entertainment. “I feel mixed about it. I feel like there’s that’s both a great thing, and I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence.”

Maye Hawke is opening up about Robin Buckley’s love life in the final season of Stranger Things. The star says she’s “mixed” about her character having an on-screen girlfriend for Season 5.
Robin ended up in Season 4 making Pb&J sandwiches with her crush Vickie (Amybeth McNulty) helping out displaced Hawkins residents following the disaster caused by Vecna.
“It’s both a great thing, and I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence,” Hawke told Yahoo! Entertainment in an interview recently.
However, the reason Hawke feels mixed about Robin being featured with a girlfriend is that that would take away from her on-screen scenes with Steve (Joe Keery).
“That friendship with Steve is so special,” Hawke added. “And friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they’re really important and they deserve their airtime.”

The last time “Stranger Things” fans saw Maya Hawke’s Robin, she was making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for displaced Hawkins, Ind. townspeople alongside Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). Robin spent a lot of “Stranger Things 4” crushing on Vickie, a clarinetist who plays with her in the Hawkins High marching band. A lot of fans felt that Pb&j scene opened the door for Robin and Vickie to become girlfriends in the upcoming fifth and final season of “Stranger Things.” Not so fast.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.
Harbour was quoted as saying, “We’re walking into season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot...

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and the beginning of the end is getting very close now. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, has said he will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts (which has a release date of July 26, 2024) at the same time in Atlanta this year. And now his co-star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, has revealed when he’ll be reporting to set this year: right after he finishes his schoolwork in May.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

The most popular moment in season 4 of the Netflix series Stranger Things came when the character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) played guitar along to the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” while facing off with the forces of evil in the Upside Down. And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to let the show use the song, and discussed what it was like to see the renewed interest in “Master of Puppets” thirty-six years after the song was first released.
Speaking with Stern, Ulrich said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “It used to be, with Metallica, we were always the ‘no’ guys. … A few years ago, we reversed it, we did a 180. The conclusion to “Stranger Things” Season 4 arrives July 1 in the form of two final episodes, the finale of which has a runtime of over two hours. Combined, the two episodes add up to almost four hours. And while it’s only been a month since Volume 1 came out, you may be in need of a brief recap before diving into the epic conclusion.
The most unforgettable twist in Season 4 so far might be the role of Jamie Campbell Bower’s character in tying everything together, including the long-desired explanation of the mythology behind the Upside Down. The fate of characters like Nancy, who was caught in Vecna’s clutches at the end of Volume I, and Eleven, who went on a mission to regain her telekinetic powers, come next in the threads we expect to be tied at the end of this fourth season. Netflix's decision to save the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 until July 1 didn't go down well with fans.
The streaming service dropped a full-length trailer for the final two episodes on Tuesday, and it looks like we're in for another A+ conclusion for the 1980s-set drama.
The mission to save Hawkins is poised to be Eleven's biggest battle to date, and after learning how she and Vecna know each other on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, well, it's going to lead to some more heartbreak.
The trailer utilizes Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," once again to build the tension as all of these characters prepare to fight demons, both literal and physical.
One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

Queue up your favorite song, because Season 4 of “Stranger Things” — and its new villain, Vecna — will be back on July 1. Netflix dropped the official trailer for Volume 2 of the massively popular horror sci-fi series, hinting at what’s to come in the final two supersized episodes of the show’s penultimate season.
Volume 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, right after it was revealed that Vecna is actually Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), a Hawkins boy from the ’50s who became the first test subject in the same government experiment as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) was still inside the Upside Down at the end of the season, but first-look images released by Netflix on June 14 revealed that she survives and makes it back to Hawkins — for now.

“Stranger Things” returned in May for its highly anticipated fourth season and immediately set the internet on fire with its various twists, turns and tunes. One such twist involves breakout cast member Jamie Campbell Bower, and Netflix is going to great lengths to avoid spoiling it for all potential Emmy voters who haven’t yet hit “play” on “Stranger Things 4.” Indeed, the English actor’s character is simply listed as “Friendly Orderly” on the 2022 Emmys ballot.
Bower numbers among the 22 “Stranger Things” cast members submitted at this year’s Emmys. He’s notably joined by his scene partner Millie Bobby Brown, who has nabbed two prior supporting actress nominations in 2017 and ’18 for her fan-fave role as Eleven, aka Jane Hopper, aka the girl with telepathic and psychokinetic abilities who loves Eggo Waffles.

“Stranger Things 4” viewership has been so strong it’s spooky. The fourth season of Eleven & friends’ sci-fi exploits just broke the “Bridgerton” Season 2 record for most hours viewed within a show’s first 28 days and it only needed 17 days to do it. Through those two-and-a-half weeks, “Stranger Things” Season 4 amassed 781.04 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own internal tally. (“Stranger Things 4” added another 159.24 million hours this past week.)
Not only did “Stranger Things” Season 4 not require the full four weeks to shatter the previously-held English-language TV record, it also didn’t need its final two supersized episodes to do it. Those, which include the nearly two-and-a-half-hour season finale, drop July 1; the first seven episodes of the penultimate season landed on Netflix May 27.
