Joining the writers room during the fifth season of Gilmore Girls required sitting down with a pen and paper to take notes on all the previous storylines and “lots of coffee,” or so writer Stan Zimmerman reflects in The Girls: From Golden to Gilmore.
In his memoir, to be published by Indigo River Publishing on Feb. 13, Zimmerman chronicles his time working on the series, as well as his journey to finding success as a writer, producer, director and playwright, working on such shows as The Golden Girls and Roseanne. Featuring journal entries throughout, The Girls also details Zimmerman’s relationships with varied stars, including Lily Tomlin, Sandra Bernhard, Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and the Golden Girls cast.

Gilmore Girls is something of a phenomenon. The series, considered a moderate success during its original run, has more staying power than most other shows. Fans rewatch the series repeatedly, largely thanks to the cozy vibes of Stars Hollow, the Connecticut hamlet where Lorelai and Rory Gilmore live. Despite its comfy atmosphere, Stars Hollow does have some secrets. In fact, several mysteries involve the tiny hamlet. We’ve collected three obscure Stars Hollow mysteries that we still haven’t solved, despite numerous rewatches
Who ran Weston’s Bakery following Fran’s death?
In season 3 of Gilmore Girls, Fran Weston died. The elderly Stars Hollow resident didn’t just own Weston’s Bakery. She also owned the property that Lorelai and Sookie St. James later turned into the Dragonfly Inn. Despite Fran’s death, Weston’s Bakery continued to operate.

Several actors were billed as series regulars on Gilmore Girls during its seven-season run. Not every major star was a series regular, though. Fans might have noticed that the show listed a few stars as special guests despite appearing regularly on the show. Jared Padalecki, who portrayed Rory Gilmore’s love interest Dean Forrester, was credited as a guest on Gilmore Girls. The Gilmore Girls intro billed Edward Herrmann the same way. Valerie Campbell, a production team member, recently revealed exactly how Padalecki’s billing allowed him to move onto another show with ease.
Jared Padalecki was billed as a special guest on ‘Gilmore Girls’
In a TikTok video, Valerie Campbell, the key set costumer for Gilmore Girls, explained that the contractual obligations for a special guest are completely different from those of a series regular. Sure, the designation had some drawbacks. For example, special guests are not paid unless they are on set.

Gilmore Girls fans appear no closer to season 2 of the Netflix revival than a year ago. Just like in years past, the actors are talking about a second revival, and Amy Sherman-Palladino is happy to entertain chatter about it.
Still, as we move further into 2024, there has yet to be an announcement. Regardless, we can’t help but wonder what a second revival would look like. While fans largely assume Rory Gilmore’s revival storyline would have included giving birth to a baby girl, that assumption might be wrong. Amy Sherman-Palladino insists there is room for boys in the Gilmore Girls universe.
‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ ended with Rory Gilmore revealing her pregnancy
When Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ended, Rory Gilmore’s life was completely unsettled. That’s the way Amy Sherman-Palladino intended it. She left loose ends for a reason. Still, fans learned...

According to property records, the home is still owned by Herrmann’s widow, Star Herrmann. It’s unclear if she’s been living in the house since her husband’s death in 2014.

Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore ended up together in the end. The Gilmore Girls couple were our endgame couple all along. Still, it took until season 5 for their relationship to be truly realized. There was plenty of foreshadowing along the way, and a lot of aspects of the couple’s lives were affected by their feelings for each other. We collected three instances in Gilmore Girls when Luke’s feelings for Lorelai actually affected his business.
Luke Danes’ business was shuttered when he needed to drive Lorelai to the hospital
Luke Danes didn’t take many days off. He didn’t shut down his diner, except for on his dark day, and he didn’t close early. He did all of that if Lorelai Gilmore required help, though. In season 1 of Gilmore Girls, Luke shuttered the diner while people were still eating, all so he could drive Lorelai where she needed to go.

Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore were the endgame couple of Gilmore Girls, and for a good reason. Fans waited four long seasons to see the perky inn owner and the surly diner owner finally kiss. For those four seasons, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino turned up the heat on the character’s sexual tension. While things started to heat up in season 3, if we look closely, there were a lot of moments that foreshadowed their future love affair in the show’s very first season. We’ve collected the most obvious examples.
‘Gilmore Girls’ fans think Amy Sherman-Palladino foreshadowed Luke and Lorelai’s relationship in the pilot
Throughout season 1 of Gilmore Girls, Luke, and Lorelai’s future romance was hinted at. Fans are certain the decision was a purposeful one. They even think the opening scene, in which Lorelai begged Luke for another cup of coffee, was the first instance of foreshadowing.

Edward Herrmann spent seven seasons portraying Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. To be honest, we couldn’t see anyone else taking on the role of stoic but caring Richard. Neither could famed showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino. Following Herrmann’s tragic death in 2014, Sherman-Palladino spoke about how Herrmann came to be Richard Gilmore, and the story is rather incredible.
Edward Herrmann offered to read for ‘Gilmore Girls’ after his agent said he wouldn’t read for the role
Amy Sherman-Palladino recalled the extraordinary circumstances that led to Ed Herrmann’s casting as Richard Gilmore to TV Line shortly after his December 2014 death. She told the publication that when they were casting for the series, they kept coming back to the part of Richard Gilmore. Sherman-Palladino recalled saying that she wished they could get Ed Herrmann, who, at that point in his career, was highly in demand and well-respected. They took a shot...

Matt Czuchry understands firsthand just how diehard fans of a TV series can be.
The Gilmore Girls alum, who starred as Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) college boyfriend Logan Huntzberger on the Amy Sherman-Palladino dramedy, vividly remembers coming face-to-face with viewers who confronted him in public over the actions of his character when the show was airing.
Throughout the seven-season series, Rory had three boyfriends (Dean, Jess and Logan), and most viewers sided with one of them, eventually sparking Team Dean, Team Jess and Team Logan.
“When you go out into the world, do you have to deal with the rivalry of these teams?...
