All Elite Wrestling held their biggest show to date Sunday in London, England at Wembley Stadium, the international pay-per-view “All In.” Announcing a paid crowd of 81,035 fans, the promotion has stated that it believes this sets an all-time paid attendance record for professional wrestling, giving No. 2 wrestling company Aew another entry in the history books.
“Today is the most successful day in the history of Aew. It’s one of the most important days ever in the history of pro wrestling,” Aew owner Tony Khan said as he opened a post-show press conference.
At the same time, according to media reports, there was an apparent backstage altercation between wrestlers C.M. Punk and Jack Perry. Perry is the late actor Luke Perry’s son and until recently wrestled under the name “Jungle Boy.”
“Yes, there was an incident backstage before we went live on tonight’s show,” Khan said at the press conference.

It’s a great time to be a professional wrestling fan. With so much content out there, it is hard to follow everything. But All Elite Wrestling should be celebrating this week because they will host the upcoming second “All In” professional wrestling pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium. With record-breaking ticket sales, it looks like fans are really looking forward to this event.
“All In” will occur on August 27, 2023, at Wembley Stadium in London, England. This will mark Aew’s debut in the United Kingdom, their first PPV event outside North America. Pro wrestler Daniel Wheeler, who wrestles as Cash Wheeler in tag team Ftr for All Elite Wrestling, has been charged in Orlando, Florida, with aggravated assault with a firearm, TheWrap confirmed Friday. It appears to be a road-rage incident, where Wheeler allegedly flashed a handgun, according to the state’s attorney at a Friday hearing. He has no prior offenses.
Wheeler’s arrest comes at a particularly challenging time for wrestling company Aew, just nine days before their biggest show to date — All In at London’s Wembley Stadium, in front of an anticipated 80,000 fans. It’s unclear whether Wheeler will still perform at the show or if his future with Aew will be otherwise affected.
Wheeler was set to wrestle with tag team partner Dax Harwood in one of All In’s main events against Southern California tag team the Young Bucks. Wheeler and Harwood hold the promotion’s tag-team championship.

Match #1: TNT Title Match – TNT Champion Sammy Guevara def. Tony Nese The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Sammy knocked Nese down with some early punishment, not forgetting about the cheap shot that Nese gave him to set up this challenge. Sammy hit Nese with hammer fists after taking him down with a double leg. Nese left the ring to slow down Sammy’s momentum but it backfired—Sammy fired himself out of the ring with a corkscrew tope suicida! Sammy rammed Tony into the steel guardrail, bouncing Nese all over the place. As Sammy was getting back into the ring, Nese knocked him off the turnbuckles. Nese got a near fall on Sammy after a gut buster!

The new episode of WWE’s 24 series follows “The Rated-r Superstar” Edge and his return to WWE this January. This, I have to say, is the best episode WWE has ever done of this show, and if you watch any WWE Network Original show right now, make it this one.
The episode doesn’t merely follow Edge’s return, but talks about his life over the years since he retired back in 2012. It’s been a long and winding road for the former multi-time WWE Champion and Hall of Famer, and we hear stories all about it here, from Edge himself, and those closest to him, such as his wife Beth Phoenix and close lifelong friend Christian. Hearing tales of the difficulties he had with his forced retirement due to injury and the things he’s been through, such as the awful loss of his mother, is hard to watch but very relevant.

Welcome to this week’s Friday Night SmackDown review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more build before the Royal Rumble. Will Will Byers be found? Will Mel Gibson let go of that lady’s throat? Will you still love me when I’m sixty-four? Will you enjoy this episode of SmackDown? No. Go do something else.
Match #1: John Morrison def. Big E The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After John Morrison dropped Big E last week to assist The Miz in The A-Lister’s win over Kofi Kingston (sporting a new blonde hair color this week), Morrison squared off against Big E with Miz and Kingston in their respective corners. Competing in his first WWE match in over eight years, Morrison looked dynamic as ever, but he ran into trouble when Big E’s power began to shine. In the critical moments,...

The National Wrestling Alliance debuts as a regular competitor in the weekly awards race and I sound like an asshole. I’m very happy to bring you this wonderful edition of The Last Week In Wrestling…because I’m a putz.
