Starr Bennett is a University of Arizona graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She has been an active member of the horse industry by breeding, training and showing National and Regional Champion Morgans,
Arabians, and American Saddle Horses. In 1981, she produced and wrote the script for a live equine theatrical documentary "Our History In Horses" which traces the contribution horses have made to man's survival and civilization. In 1984, Starr was invited to participate as educational entertainment at intermissions at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. She rode in the "Cavalcade of American Horses" half time program during the Equestrian Games. By 1989, she was racing horses in Arizona at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Prescott Downs and Yavapai Downs in the Prescott area, and at Fair Meets around the state.
A riding instructor and horse trainer from the late 1960s to now, she also has taught for Pima Community College in Tucson, and enjoyed several years teaching for Yavapai Community College in their Leisure and Lifesytle program.
Besides farming at her farm in Paulden for the past 25 years, she is editor of the Big Chino Valley Free Press, a community newspaper dedicated to Paulden and the Big Chino Valley.
