There will be no new seasons of “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” “Harlan Coben’s Shelter” or “With Love” at Prime Video, the streamer announced on Tuesday.
Originally created by Aaron Mark as a one-woman play, “Empanada Loca,” Mark created, wrote, and directed the original podcast and penned the pilot script for “The Horror of Dolores Roach.” The series followed the titular character (played by Justina Machado), “who returns to a gentrified Washington Heights, where she reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis, who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, ‘Magic Hands’ Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive,” reads the official description.
Mark also served as co-showrunner and executive producer with Dara Resnik, alongside executive producers Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse Television; Dawn Ostroff,...

What a way to leave us hanging!
The series understood the art of a cliffhanger with Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 8, and now we're left reeling over the confirmation that Brad Bolitar is alive.
But what does that mean for the future? And we're not just talking about the future for all these respective characters and the storytelling, but the future of the series in general.
We got those suspenseful moments of Mickey, with the support of his friends, coming face to face with his father, who isn't dead after all, just as Shira stared down an empty coffin.
We fade to black before we can have the satisfying moments of Mickey running to his father for a hug or them having anything that resembles a real conversation.
And with Bat Lady in the wind, Luther, and whomever he's working alongside serving as a looming threat, and the uncertainty...

Can we please stop traumatizing these teens for, like, a second?
It was nearly all hands on deck for the teens during Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 7, which was a harrowing hour for too many of the kiddos.
But by the end of it, at least we know that Ashley is rescued and off somewhere far safer for now.
Mickey Bolitar's hard-learned lesson of the hour was that he has to trust and rely on his friends a bit more, but then, did he really learn that lesson by the end when he went to confront Bat Lady alone?
And Spoon experienced such a devastating loss, that of a girl he once knew and part of his innocence, that it's almost unforgivable that we didn't get to revisit that again.
Spoon Spindell is not okay, and we need to focus on that a bit more!
The series knows its strength lies in the dynamics,...

We have one major mystery down!
While many of us probably suspected that Dylan Shakes was alive and that he had gotten away from his father's abuse, it was lovely to have that confirmation during Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 6.
It was also so touching to have that reunion between Dylan and Mrs. Friedman.
Mickey was a bit of a lone wolf for most of the hour, and it landed him in quite a terrifying position, with new information about Abeola and all his father has been involved in and him escaping for his life.
What happened to the buddy system, Mickey? This is getting too stressful!
With the number of mysteries that this series drops at us rapidly, it's nice to have a clear-cut answer for at least one of them and bits and pieces of things coming together for some others.

Ashley is still missing in action, and the mystery surrounding Octoface has only deepened.
Much of Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 5 was light on the larger mysteries and more insular, spending time delving into the characters' personal lives and headspaces.
In that sense, it was a robust character-building installment to set the pace for the remainder of the season.
If there's one thing that one can take away from this series so far, it is that the friendship among the trio is one of the show's most wholesome, endearing, feels-inducing aspects.
No matter what, can we just protect Mickey, Spoon, and Ema at all costs?
With so much going on surrounding the mystery of who is after Ashley Kent and why, the Dylan Shakes connection, and the teens still trying to go about their lives as teenagers, sometimes it's easy to forget that Mickey hasn't been able to fully...

Harlan Coben's Shelter has been firing from all cylinders since its impressive launch on Prime Video earlier this month.
On Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 5, the mystery intensifies, and some more secrets are revealed.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive first look at the episode, and it sets the tone for a thrilling hour of this new drama.
In the clip, Mickey and Spoon follow Ema and get more than they bargained for.
Ema notices they've been doing some investigating of their own and finds the pair outside her house, which is far more luxurious than they anticipated.
Irate that they're meddling, Ema is also taken aback, but not as much as Mickey and Spoon.
How will their decision to find out more about Ema help or hinder their dynamic as we enter the back half of Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1?
We don't know, but we will be watching it all play out.

If Chilean auteur Pablo Larraín displayed one constant over the course of a stunningly multifarious filmography since his breakout sophomore feature “Tony Manero” (2006), it’s his inquisitiveness pitched at the fault lines of politics and family. He sinks his teeth deep—so deep—into that curiosity in his luminous and pensively funny political satire “El Conde,” a fiercely original genre outing that imagines notorious Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet as a centuries-old vampire and inventively considers the perpetual, shape-shifting nature of evil that goes unpunished.
A long-dead dictator who’s in fact undead and still poisoning the veins of the nation while his kin pecks at his wealth like voracious vultures? What a perfectly gothic playground for Larraín, one that aptly dwells in the shadows of a nondescript stony mansion and liberally draws blood out of the director’s own greatest hits. Expect the sardonic humor of Larraín’s political period masterwork “No” here,...

The Chilean filmmaker’s dark satire premieres in Venice competition.
It has been more than a decade since No, Pablo Larraín’s last feature about former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, and the filmmaker returns to the territory with his dark satire El Conde, which receives its world premiere in Venice today (August 31).
The territory was familiar and uncharted. Whereas 2012’s No and the two earlier films in Larraín’s Pinochet trilogy – Tony Manero (2008) and Post Mortem (2010) – steered clear of depicting the tyrant on screen and focused on how his violent rule (1973-1990) bled into the psyche of Chileans, El Conde is something very different.

The good news is that the hour didn't feel as though it was hurtling through too much plot at lightning speed.
As a result, Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 4 was infinitely easier to follow but still filled with twists and that tense cliffhanger.
We also have some confirmation about Ashley's whereabouts, but for how long?
As suspected, Rachel is a friend, not a foe, and Bat Lady remains one of the series' most puzzling characters.
Shelter is one of those series that, more often than not, makes it challenging to keep up with all the little tidbits they throw at us as it spins about a dozen plots simultaneously on its axis.
Nevertheless, it's an intriguing ride, and whether you can keep up with everything or not, it's nothing short of entertaining, primarily due to the likability of many of the series' characters and how well the actors do at bringing them to life.

Harlan Coben’s Shelter is a new mystery drama series that takes the viewers through a deep, dark forest in the hope that the story’s matrix of truth and lies will keep you entertained while you keep second-guessing the next turn of events. Shelter Episode 4 proves that the mystery of Brad’s death and the intentions of the ‘Bat Lady’ regarding Brad’s son Mickey will not be deciphered so easily. Although the episode did give us some answers, especially regarding Ashley and Rachel’s connection, there are many questions that were left unanswered. The episode was a mixed bag this time. It meandered from one story to the next without much fervor.
The whole subplot exploring Shira’s past seemed out of place and disturbed the pacing, but as soon as the episode focused on Ashley and the Bat Lady, the intrigue was back. Shelter Episode 4 did a...

The new format of web series allows writers to adapt novels to their full capacity. Even if the series is not based on a novel, the writers can still fully expand on the characters and go deep into the story, which otherwise wouldn’t be possible. The new series Shelter (aka Harlan Coben’s Shelter) is based on Harlon Coben’s book of the same name, and it follows Mickey Bolitar as he begins his journey into a deep, dark world of murder and intrigue after his father’s death. There have been many series that have had school-going kids involved in a mystery much beyond their initial grasp, but through sheer courage, they find out the truth. Recently Stranger Things and Dark, are two that come to mind, and Shelter spins its own yarn to pull the viewer into its world.

Ashley is alive, but where the hell is she?!
Keeping up with the breakneck pace for all the twists and turns this series is throwing at us, Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 3 was filled to the brim with revelations.
Of course, it also opened the door for a gazillion more questions. This series is hellbent on keeping our heads spinning.
Is Brad alive or not? Who took Ashley and why? Why is Rachel being so shady? So all sides of the Shira, Hannah, and Ken triangle have touched in more ways than one? Whew!
The series mix-matching the characters and how the trio interact with each other are among the most fun things to happen.
During Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 2, we had a heavy dose of Mickey and Ema, and it was such a unique vibe. When Ema realized that she liked Mickey and dropped her antisocial defenses, we saw this genuinely caring,...

Are you ready to sink your teeth into a great mystery?
There's nothing better than a series that can capture the right tone of a suspenseful mystery while presenting rich characters who instantly lure you in.
And Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 1 excels at this from the second we lay eyes on Jaden Michael.
We're embarking on yet another book-to-screen adaptation, this time inspired by the work of Harlen Coben, and it doesn't show any signs of disappointment.
Shelter doesn't waste a single minute of its 55-minute-long premiere. If the rest of the season manages to keep up this type of momentum and strong storytelling, we're undoubtedly in for quite an exhilarating ride.
The series' strength is in these characters, who instantly feel thoroughly established, likely due to their being source material and a great cast who brings them to life.
Notably, Jaden Michael is a strong lead. Anyone...

Oh, how this series weaves tangled webs.
With some of the series' foundation out of the way, Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 2 could zero in on some of the mysteries introduced, and the hour was easier to follow.
The installment was packed with some revelations and new developments, from the return of Kitty, Ema's prophecy, Mrs. Friedman digging into Mr. V's disappearance, and that tense cliffhanger.
Ashley was not as we could've imagined, and the more they dug into what happened to her, the more things came out about her.
Meanwhile, the familial elements that the series explores, whether the Bolitars or the Taylors, elevate the installment, too.
But one thing that sticks out about this hour is that Shira was onto something about everyone having secrets, and a past, too.
Again, one can't gush enough about Jaden Michael and how fantastic he is as Mickey.

Just over a year has passed since we heard that Pablo Larraín, director of the films Jackie, Ema, and Spencer, as well as the Stephen King mini-series Lisey’s Story, was in production on El Conde, which depicts real-world dictator Augusto Pinochet as a vampire. Now a trailer for El Conde has arrived online, revealing that the film is scheduled to be released through the Netflix streaming service on September 15th. The trailer can be seen in the embed above.
Scripted by Larraín and his frequent collaborator Guillermo Calderón, El Conde is a horror dark comedy that imagines a parallel universe inspired by the recent history of Chile. The film portrays Augusto Pinochet, a symbol of world fascism, as a vampire who lives hidden in a ruined mansion in the cold southern tip of the continent, feeding his appetite for evil to sustain his existence. After two hundred and fifty years of life,...

Actress Mariana Di Girolamo is a Chilean name to watch as she brings chameleon-like qualities to roles like this and, a year later, Leonardo Medel's La Veronica. Here, she plays reggaeton dancer Ema, one half of a couple (alongside Gael Garcia Bernal's choreographer Gaston) whose adoption of a young boy has turned sour along with their relationship. Blazing with contradiction, we see Ema trying on personas for size - mother, wife, sexually liberated fly-by-night - with Di Girolamo bringing a magnetic intensity to each, as her character begins to show she wants to get the child back, no matter what the cost. Beyond the performances, the dance choreography embedded in Pablo Larrain's film and fiercely colour-coded cinematography from Sergio Armstrong are stunning.

The movie Who Are You People follows the story of 16-year-old Alex (Ema Horvath) as she searches for her biological father who her mother Sarah (Yeardley Smith) kept secret. Alex learns more about her family’s past than she bargained for and must deal with these secrets herself.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers, Smith described why she took the role and what her character is like.
“Well the truth is I took the role because they asked me and, you know, I’m a pushover,” she laughed. “I really loved that Sarah, my character, that she’s very conservative, she’s very buttoned up. She’s quite religious, she likes things just so. Even the way she dresses, you know, she hasn’t really gone with the time, she hasn’t really adapted with the time. You sort of look at her and go, ‘what decade are you in?...

“Blanquita,” Chile’s official Oscar entry for Best International Film from rising star Fernando Guzzoni, is a cinematic and narrative revelation. Taking its cues from the real-life child prostitution and pedophilia scandal known as the “Spiniak Case” that rocked Chile in the early 2000s, “Blanquita” revolves around the young lady at the center of the scandal.
Blanca (first-time actress Laura López), more commonly referred to as Blanquita, has been subjected to abuse — emotional, sexual and physical — all her life. Poor and largely unprotected, the 18-year-old Blanquita is rarely championed; rooting for her, as Guzzoni reveals, does not always end where we hope it will.
Backed by Manuel, the priest of the home where she resides with her baby girl, Blanca alleges that a powerful businessman and a noted politician are part of a child-prostitution ring. As we watch her undergo psychological evaluations, holding her head high with a steely stare...

Spencer‘s Pablo Larraín has set the biopic Maria on the life of American-born Greek soprano Maria Callas as his next feature, bringing Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie (Those Who Wish Me Dead) aboard to star.
The film based on true accounts will tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris.
Pic was written by Larraín’s Spencer scribe, Oscar nominee Steven Knight. The filmmaker’s brother and creative partner Juan de Dios Larraín will produce for Fabula Pictures, alongside Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle Company, and Jonas Dornbach for Komlizen Film.
“Having the chance to combine my two most deep and personal passions, cinema and opera, has been a long-awaited dream,” said Larraín. “To do this with Angelina, a supremely brave and curious artist, is a fascinating opportunity. A true gift.
