Hollywood’s always got its share of surprises, especially when it comes to spill-the-beans moments behind the scenes. Paul Giamatti, the big-name actor with quite a few Oscar nods under his belt, dropped a bombshell recently about his gig on Private Time with Kathryn Hahn.
Paul Giamatti in The Holdovers
Brace yourself, as it turns out, that the 56-year-old spilled the beans and that he was hitting the bottle pretty hard during the whole shoot. But what’s got everyone buzzing isn’t just the booze confession; it’s what Giamatti blurted out to Hahn during the shoot. Rumor has it that those were some of the most iconic last words ever. Curious much? Let’s spill the tea.

There are so many stars in attendance at the opening night of Appropriate on Broadway!
Jennifer Lawrence, Dakota Fanning, and Rose Byrne are just some of the celebs who walked the carpet at the opening event on Monday (December 18) at the Hayes Theater in New York City.
Appropriate, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, stars Sarah Paulson, Corey Stoll, and Dakota‘s younger sister Elle Fanning. The play is billed as a “darkly comic American family drama” that takes place as the Lafayette family has returned to their late patriarch’s Arkansas home to deal with the remains of his estate. Long-hidden secrets and buried resentments can’t be contained, and the family is forced to face the ghosts of their past.
More stars in attendance at the event included Jim Parsons, Jane Krakowski, Amanda Peet, Zachary Quinto, Nicholas Braun, Rebecca Hall and Morgan Spector, and so many more.

Exclusive: Emmy and Golden Globe winner Edie Falco has reteamed with her Nurse Jackie director Brendan Walsh on I’ll Be Right There — an indie comedy written by Jim Beggarly (Free Samples), which has wrapped production in New York.
Others set to star in the pic include Oscar nominee Jeannie Berlin (The Fabelmans), Charlie Tahan (Ozark), Independent Spirit Award nominee Kayli Carter (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Michael Rapaport (Only Murders in the Building), Michael Beach (Dahmer), Sepideh Moafi (Black Bird) and Emmy winner Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid’s Tale).
I’ll Be Right There follows a single mother, Wanda (Falco), who has her hands full to say the least: her eight month pregnant daughter (Carter) wants a wedding, her mother (Berlin) thinks she’s dying, her wayward son (Tahan) is either going into rehab or the army, and she barely has time for herself, not that she would know what to do with it anyway.

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a premiere date for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4!
Prime Video on Tuesday revealed that the beloved comedy will return on Friday, February 18, but there's a catch.
For the first time in the history of the show, Prime Video will be rolling episodes out weekly.
Two episodes will be launched each Friday for four consecutive weeks, meaning that you'll have to wait until the season is over if you want to binge it in one sitting.
“It’s 1960 and change is in the air,” the Season 4 synopsis reads.
“Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom."
"But her commitment to her craft — and the places it takes her — creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her.”

Things are changing on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4.
Amazon Prime Video on Monday dropped a new look at the forthcoming season, courtesy of two photos.
The first shows Midge sprawled on a sofa, deep in thought, clearly thinking about something serious.
There are people around her, but she's so deep in thought that she's unaware of what is happening behind her.
What could have Maisel this deep in contemplation?
We'd love to know, but we'll have to wait until the new season debuts to get some more clarity.
Then again, maybe we'll get that clarity in the trailer, which is set to arrive soon.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 concluded with Midge losing her spot on Shy Baldwin's tour, as well as her apartment.
The second photo shows Abe and Rose enjoying some fine dining in their home watching the TV.
They look as happy as ever, which is good to see.

The titular Marvelous Mrs. Maisel may be a comedian, but the yuks are sparse in the show’s first Season 4 photos.
The new shots, which Prime Video released Monday, show Midge looking rather melancholy, stretched out on a sofa in what appears to be a showgirls’ dressing room. Surrounded by sequins and feathers, and wearing her familiar black cocktail gown stage outfit, might Midge be getting ready to go on/contemplating her life choices thus far?

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (Josh Greenbaum)
Injecting a sense of delightfully unbridled frivolity to quite a dire era of studio comedy, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar marks Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig’s first project since a decade ago with Bridesmaids. Following best friends as they take their dream vacation in a town that’s being targeted for mass destruction, this is a comedy that understands being dumb doesn’t mean dumbing things down. With a radiant color palette and joke-a-minute delivery, couple with Jamie Dornan’s best performance, this will certainly be the most rewatchable film on this list in the years to come. – Jordan R.

Let Him Go was an underrated gem that came out last year, and can now be owned on DVD and Blu-ray. To mark its release we had the pleasure of speaking to one of its leading stars Kayli Carter, who holds her own against screen icons such as Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Lesley Manville.
We discussed the project with Carter, as she comments on the underestimated character she portrays, and whether she learnt from her as a person. She talks too about the sensitive and yet quite raw depiction of domestic violence within the film, and of course what it was like collaborating alongside such a host of decorated talent she has admired throughout her life.

Happiest Season (Clea DuVall)
Happiest Season, Hollywood’s first major lesbian Christmas rom-com, has everything you’d expect from a Christmas movie: snow; sweaters; mismatched family members coming together under one roof; characters saying they hate Christmas and then succumbing to holiday cheer; conflict; satisfying resolution. Director and co-writer Clea DuVall embraces cliches, but filtering them through a lesbian perspective allows old tropes to gain new context. Family dysfunction carries extra weight when viewed through the lens of heteronormativity. The happy couple’s falling-out hits deeper because it’s wrought with the anxiety of coming out. Losing a child is a nightmare for any parent that only festers further with the passage of time. In Let Him Go, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane portray George and Margaret Blackledge. They’re a Montana-based couple living on a beautiful stretch of farmland.
Costner’s George is a retired sheriff whose antenna for nefarious folks doing despicable things is impeccable.
Sadly, both George and Margaret experience that family tragedy that no parent ever recovers from when their grown son, James Blackledge (Ryan Bruce), falls off his horse and perishes. That leaves his widow, Lorna (Kayli Carter from Mrs. America), to raise their son without his father.
After the film’s fateful beginnings, the ‘50s-set sizzler leaps ahead a few years. George and Margaret are providing a home for their daughter-in-law and their grandson Jimmy (played by both Otto Hornung and Bram Hornung).

The latest film to bear the moniker “starring Kevin Costner” above its title is the new dramatic thriller Let Him Go. While the film defies a specific categorization in any single genre, it miraculously escapes the fate of trying to be too many things at one time and is simply a splendidly told tale featuring a plethora of remarkably talented actors.
When we first meet the Blackledges, they are introduced as the practical paragon of the idealized American Dream. They are a close family living idyllically on the family’s sprawling Montana ranch. There is the patriarch George (Kevin Costner), a now retired local sheriff; Margaret (Diane Lane), an apparently devoted, loving wife; and their son, James (Ryan Bruce) and his family, wife Lorna (Kayli Carter) and son Jimmy. But, all good things must inevitably come to an end, and their world is shattered when James is thrown from his horse and killed.

Let Him Go is a Western set in early ’60s Montana, starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane in a heroic fight, not to save a town as in a classic Western, but to rescue their grandchild. When their son James (Ryan Bruce) dies suddenly, he leaves a hole in the hearts of his parents George (Costner) and Margaret (Lane) Blackledge, as well as a young widow Lorna (Kayli Carter) and infant child named Jimmy. When their daughter-in-law remarries, things change, but then her abusive new husband, Donnie Weboy (Will Brittain), unexpectedly relocates his wife and stepson to join his family in his home state. There was no warning and the young couple left no address yet...

Diane Lane and Kevin Costner. A gothic, Dakotan rescue mission. A bit of loss, and a bit of crass, mean mugging from a helmut-haired Lesley Manville. Add a dash of violence, of course — it’s a pretty good recipe. And writer/director Thomas Bezucha’s Let Him Go, an adaptation of novelist Larry Watson’s 2013 neo-Western, get the flavors right, at least. That marquee-name duo play Margaret and George Blackledge, a Montana couple whose adult son dies in a tragic accident. Their daughter-in-law Lorna (Kayli Carter) later gets stolen away,...

One is immediately struck by the simplicity of Let Him Go. Following the untimely death of their son, retired sheriff George Blackledge (Kevin Costner) and his wife Margaret (Diane Lane) watch in horror as their daughter-in-law (Kayli Carter) marries into the Weboy Family, their grandson in tow. The Weboys are an unruly sort, holding power over all of those inside and outside of the law around the border of Montana and North Dakota. Big mean fish in a small pond. Unswayed by the violence sure to come their way, George and Margaret set out to rescue their family from certain doom.
Written and directed by Thomas Bezucha and based on the Larry Watson novel of the same name, this is storytelling that recalls westerns from decades long past. And how fitting to cast Costner in the lead role, an aging movie star who uniquely represents Hollywood’s past, present, and future.

If Zack Snyder’s superhero movies got one thing right — and that’s a big “if” — it’s that Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are the Platonic ideal of white, decent, midwestern parents. Bright actors on their own, these two stars transform into some kind of denim supernova whenever they’re hired to share the same galaxy; the patriotic energy of their combined screen presence is powerful enough to fuel a Ford commercial and make you want to call your parents “ma” and “pa” for a few weird days. But while Snyder recognized that Costner and Lane spark an old-fashioned vision of American values more potent than even Superman could express alone, the franchise-oriented “Man of Steel” couldn’t afford to consider that such a vision can only exist in hindsight.

“Let Him Go,” starring Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as an aging rancher couple out to rescue their grandson from a clan of varmint in-laws, is set in Big Sky Country about 50 years ago, and it’s like a family-values, homespun-nostalgia version of “The Searchers” crossed with “Midsommar” on the range. If that sounds like an oddball of a movie, but one that’s going to keep you watching, it is. And Lane and Costner give it their all in a casual way that only pros this seasoned and gifted can. They turn the movie into an unlikely thing: a touchingly bone-weary romance steeped in vengeance.
At first, we think we’re watching a sensitive weeper-of-the-week about grief, loss, and time’s healing passage. Lane and Costner play Margaret and George Blackledge. He’s a retired lawman, with a badge and pistol in his drawer that look like they came...

Writer-director Thomas Bezucha clearly flourishes under a big sky: Returning to Montana for “Let Him Go,” he fulfills the promise of his acclaimed debut feature, 2000’s “Big Eden,” also shot in the Treasure State. But where his earlier film was a lovely romantic comedy about the power of community, this new film (based on the novel by Larry Watson) is a nail-biting thriller about a couple rescuing their young grandson from a terrible new family.
Between its taut script and some indelible performances, “Let Him Go” succeeds both as a low-key character study and as a breathlessly intense thriller about the clash between good (but not perfect) people and bad people, none of whom are to be trifled with.
Bezucha opens with some idyllic images right out of Norman Rockwell, and only subtly does an undercurrent of Edward Hopper become visible. Retired sheriff George Blackledge (Kevin Costner) and his wife...

Although it might seem like Field of Dreams and Unfaithful came out just yesterday, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane have now entered the “concerned grandparents” phase of their careers. In the new drama Let Him Go, the Man of Steel pair reteam, playing George and Margaret, a couple who are concerned for the well being of their grandson after their son is tragically murdered. When a mysterious, off-the-grid family led by Lesley Manville’s chain-smoking matriarch kidnaps their grandson, George and Margaret must stop at nothing to rescue him and bring him home.
Set for a November 6 theatrical release from Focus Features, the trailer depicts the duo shooting guns as they are dropped in the middle of intense action scenes, perhaps an unexpected, welcome departure for the two veteran actors. The film is directed by The Family Stone’s Thomas Bezucha and co-stars Jeffrey Donovan, Kayli Carter, Booboo Stewart, and Will Brittain.

"You're with me on this, right?" "I'm right behind ya..." Focus Features has released the first official trailer for Let Him Go, a suspenseful crime drama adapted from the bestselling novel by Larry Watson. A retired sheriff and his wife, grieving over the death of their son, set out to find their only grandson. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane star as the Blackledges, who head out from their Montana ranch to find their grandson in the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas. When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for their family. Also starring Lesley Manville as the matriarch Blanche Weboy, plus Kayli Carter, Booboo Stewart, Jeffrey Donovan, Will Brittain, Ryan Bruce, Adam Stafford, and Bradley Stryker. Damn it looks good! This gets more and more intense as the trailer plays out.

Thomas Bezucha, whose 2000 feature “Big Eden” was a queer festival favorite, is back with his first film as writer-director in nearly a decade. While his last effort, “Monte Carlo,” was a lighthearted family comedy, his next feature, “Let Him Go” is a much darker effort. The film’s first trailer plays like a Western riff on the “Taken” franchise. “Let Him Go” is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Larry Watson.
“Let Him Go” stars Kevin Costner as a retired sheriff and Diane Lane as his wife. Following the loss of their son, the couple leave their Montana ranch to rescue their grandson, who has fallen into the clutches of a dangerous off-the-grid family headed by a matriarch named Blanche Weboy (played by “Phantom Thread” Oscar nominee Lesley Manville). The couple are forced to fight for their family when they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go.

HBO is both a great and slightly regrettable home for Bad Education. When they picked up the movie out of the festival circuit, it was somewhat of a surprise. After all, the flick had gotten some strong awards buzz, especially for star Hugh Jackman. Would they really be going for potential Emmy (and Golden Globe) attention, as opposed to gunning for Oscars? Well, it appears that way, and aside from that unusual quirk, it’s undeniable that they have a quality picture on their hands. This is actually one of the better titles of the year, no matter where you actually see it. The film is a true crime character study, looking at a massive instance of long term fraud in the affluent Long Island city of Roslyn. The school system in the town is among the best in the nation, due in no small part to the work of the Superintendent of the district,...

We know the adage that if we don’t learn from history, we’re doomed to repeat it. And as we live through this current dark timeline you’d assume it’d be too much to watch a nine-episode series about the continued oppression of women and the creation of the political divide we’re seeing play out today. In reality, what creator Dahvi Waller does with “Mrs. America” is tell a story about the numerous ways to be a woman — and that lack of unity is what ultimately keeps us divided. The A-list directors and cast do their part to create a work with so many moving parts, so many storylines and nuances worthy of their own series, that the series could easily lend itself to a book of essays.
Taking place between 1971-1980, it’s remarkable that each episode packs in so much history in a way that never feels superfluous.
