“We had a 13-year run of a robust market and are experiencing a necessary cycle change,” says Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates, reflecting on the 36 percent drop in luxury home sales that hit L.A. in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the median price of a home in Los Angeles hovered at $963,000, down 1 percent from the previous year. The decline can be attributed to a combination of high interest rates, the dual strikes that hit Hollywood and the new Ula mansion tax, in which home sellers in the city of Los Angeles must pay at least a 4 percent transfer on any sales above $5 million. “Sellers are hesitant to sell given these barriers,” says Akg’s Aaron Kirman.
Despite the challenges, L.A.’s agents (chosen based on total sales volume, Hollywood clients and media visibility) continued to smash records, led by the most expensive sale in California history — Beyoncé and...

In his new role, the former Rooster Teeth executive will oversee business operations, including strategy and business development. This is a new position for five-year-old Night Media, which works with more than 20 YouTube creators including stunt guru MrBeast and customizer Zhc.
“After more than 12 years of building companies in the online creator space, I believe that digital talent management will play an important part in the future of the media landscape,” Cooperstein said in a statement. “There is no company doing it better than Night Media.”
Cooperstein was the founding CEO of YouTube multi-channel network Maker Studios. He then teamed up with YouTube veteran George Strompolos to build competitor Fullscreen, later selling the business to Otter Media. The UCLA grad then joined Rooster Teeth as president, a role he exited in spring 2019.

Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos announced this morning that he’s stepping down from the digital media company he founded.
Strompolos left YouTube to launch Fullscreen in 2011, as one of the earliest multichannel networks that brought together thousands of YouTube creators. It tried to launch a team-focused streaming service, which ultimately was shuttered in 2018.
In a memo, Strompolos said the staff would report to Otter Media COO Andy Forssell.
At&T and the Chernin Group took a majority interest in Fullscreen, which was incorporated into Otter Media’s digital video venture. In August, At&T acquired The Chernin Group’s controlling interest in the Otter Media joint venture, which comprises wholly-owned subsidiaries Ellation, an online subscription video service provider, with offerings under the Crunchyroll and Vrv brands, as well as a Fullscreen, and its Rooster Teeth brand.

Long-revered digital executive George Strompolos, a seminal figure in the rise of YouTube’s multi-channel network industry, has stepped down as CEO of Fullscreen, which he founded in Jan. 2011.
In a memo to staffers, Strompolos said that he would be transitioning to an advisor role at both Fullscreen and Otter Media, explaining that he made the decision “after spending some time away from work and reflecting on my own personal journey.” In his stead, Fullscreen will be led by Andy Forssell, the COO of Otter Media -- which now fully owns Fullscreen, (and which is in turn owned by At&T).
Otter Media, which was formerly a majority owner of Fullscreen, purchased its remaining shares from Strompolos in January to become the sole owner. Then, in August, At&T fully acquired Otter Media -- which had previously been a joint venture between the telecom giant and The Chernin Group. At&T...

Otter Media, a joint venture between At&T and The Chernin Group that creates and acquires digital media brands, bought the remaining shares in two companies that it already majority owned.
Otter Media now fully owns digital network Fullscreen and Ellation -- a brand formed in 2015 to encompass anime platform Crunchyroll and arts-and-crafts destination Creativebug. Otter purchased the remaining shares from Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos, who was a minority owner, and TV Tokyo, an early investor in Crunchyroll, Variety reports. VideoInk first reported the deal, and an Otter rep confirmed that it “marked a significant vote of confidence in its businesses.”

At its second-ever NewFronts presentation this afternoon, Fullscreen announced a corporate restructuring in which the company will henceforth be known as Fullscreen Media. The new entity will have three branches: the Fullscreen Creator Network, its foundational business helping creators grow viewership and monetization; Fullscreen Entertainment, which includes its new Svod service, also called 'Fullscreen'; and Fullscreen Brandworks, a team dedicated to social media marketing.
The company’s new Brandworks division will be led by Pete Stein, who was formerly the CEO of digital ad agency Razorfish. One of the division’s first partnerships, announced today, is with toy-maker Mattel, which will enable the toy company “to create deep, repeatable relationships with influncers” around its Hot Wheels franchise, Fullscreen said in a press release. Rather than a one-off sponsorship, Brandworks lets marketers collaborate with influencers that have an “organic affinity” to certain products and integrate messaging with “fluidity” via multiple campaigns over time.

Fullscreen, the online video network backed by mogul Peter Chernin and telecom giant At&T, is restructuring itself into different units, with one dedicated to creating branded videos. The other divisions produce original programming and manage the YouTube creator network that was the company’s original business. George Strompolos, the founder and CEO of the digital network Fullscreen, is a 36-year-old Gen-Xer who grew up as part of the “MTV Generation.” Now, with his company’s latest innovation, he is attempting to pass on the cultural significance of MTV for a new cohort of consumers. Fullscreen (the media company, with a capital F) has officially launched a streaming video on-demand (Svod) service called fullscreen (with a lowercase f), which is now available globally.
At launch, fullscreen’s library includes original programs, such as Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (starring YouTube standouts Hannah Hart and Grace Helbig) and Zall Good (starring Alexis G. Zall), as well as a lineup of licensed films, TV shows, and web series. As with other Svod services like Netflix, fullscreen will recommend specific titles in its library depending on the mood and browsing history of individual users.

Fullscreen has finally pressed play on its long-awaited ad-free Svod service, which it’s billing as the “first video membership experience programmed for the social-first generation”, launching globally on April 26.
The eponymous platform -- but branded fullscreen -- will comprise scripted and unscripted series from major digital stars like Shane Dawson, Jack Howard, Dean Dobbs, and Alexis G. Zall, though the company has also acquired teen-leaning classics like Cruel Intentions, Can’t Hardly Wait, Saved By the Bell, and Dawson’s Creek to serve as part of the subscription offer. In addition, Fullscreen promises “exclusive content from top creators and social influencers.” All in all, the service will launch with more than 800 hours of content, Fullscreen says.
"This is for an audience that we know and love,” said Fullscreen founder and CEO George Strompolos in a statement, “a generation of young people that grew up with online video and social media.

Fullscreen, the online video network backed by mogul Peter Chernin and telecom giant At&T, will launch a subscription service next month with exclusive original programs, the latest in a rash of new services aiming to be Netflix on a smaller scale. Linked to the launch, At&T is injecting money into Fullscreen to help finance the original content, Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos said in an interview with TheWrap. However, he wouldn’t characterize the size of the investment, other than to call it “significant.” At&T will also promote the service to its customers, potentially offering them extended free trial,...

Sid and Marty Krofft are no spring chickens, but they’re full of forward-thinking ideas, and as a result, their joint career is taking an interesting turn. Sid, 86, and Marty, 78, are best known for creating 70s television shows like H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and Electra Woman & Dyna Girl. In recent years, the Kroffts have ushered in several reboots and spin-offs of their existing shows, and their multi-platform approach provides a compelling case study for any traditional TV producers who are approaching new media.
The Kroffts have been producing shows together since the 50s, but the most relevant phase of their creative collaboration began in 1969, when they brought H.R. Pufnstuf to NBC. With its colorful puppets and unique characters, Pufnstuf has since endured as a cult favorite, as have several of the other children’s series the Kroffts premiered in the following years. Lazer Team is the highly anticipated feature film distributed in part by YouTube’s new subscription service YouTube Red, produced in partnership with YouTube multichannel network Fullscreen’s new film banner Fullscreen Films, and created by one of the longest-lasting and most iconic creators of online video entertainment Rooster Teeth. If that pedigree is somehow not enough to guarantee the flick’s place in history as a case study for how major motion picture gets made in this new entertainment paradigm, then this next stat certainly will cement its position as something Hollywood executives won’t soon forget.
Lazer Team just passed $1 million in worldwide theater ticket pre-sales. And it did so by way of a disruptive distribution strategy that made use of grassroots support and Rooster Teeth’s fervent fan base from all around the globe.

Playa, “will be staffed by a dedicated team of influencer marketing specialists,” according to a press release from Fullscreen.
