Sirfan
- Actor
Sirfan S Knite is a performer, actor, singer, sessionist, puppeteer and shadow puppeteer. He has been performing for over 20 years on stage, in theatre and on screen.
His #lifejourney started with music, forming his own band in school - Colours which then evolved to KIX, Black Faith and Faith back in 1990s.
In 1999, he decided to look for a new group, attending vocal competitions and recruiting 4 - 5 singers to form a singing group like Backstreet Boys and Nsync. At that time, they entered a competition and qualified to be in the Quarter-Finals for Anugerah 12. Many groups entered but they are selected to be 1 of the 2 groups to be on TV. HRS (Harmony, Rhythm and Soul) continued to perform at gigs and functions and was picked up by an entertainment events company. Performances after performances, they were labeled as Singapore's N'Sync.
In 2001, HRS disbanded and LOCO was formed. LOCO performed at several gigs and qualified into Quarter-Finals in Big Break and Talentime. Both HRS and LOCO had a great run and after the group disbanded, Sirfan S Knite joined a local Latin group (d'Easton Ritmo) performing Latin, salsa and bossa music among others. After a few years performing in the band, Sirfan decided to focus more in acting.
While performing music, he joined ACT 3 Theatrics as an actor and learned many things like backstage management and the making of props among many things. He enjoyed his time there and after a few years, Sirfan decided to act as a freelancer.
Sirfan S Knite has performed in many areas of performance which includes physical theatre, mime, musicals, and puppetry. His specialty however is Children's theatre, improvisational performance and puppetry which includes shadow puppetry.
In 2011, he left to KL and trained and performed there. Then in 2012, he was accepted to be the FIRST Asian performer in Legoland, Malaysia, performing with 5 other international performers from France and Kenya.
Sirfan loves entertaining children and will give his fullest energy to put a smile on their faces.
On TV, he has been in episodes of "Crimewatch", "True Files", "True Courage", "Incredible Tales", "Robbie and the Book of Tales" and several children's TV production, especially "WITZ". He is also one of the Supporting Actor in a Telemovie, "Dribble like Fandi".
He plans to go back into TV and hopefully film, after being involved on stage. His latest theatrical productions are, "Conference of the Birds" - Orangedot Productions and a Kuala Lumpur (KL) Actor's Studio production, "Si Putih and the 7 Makciks". This was his first theatre production outside of Singapore.
At the same time, he also runs his own companies, Funplay Workshop and Bayang Troupe. He has gone into puppetry and shadow-puppetry, thanks to his mentors, Sabera Shaik and Frankie Yeo who guided and trained him into puppetry. He just had a radio interview with WARNA radio in March 2017 about being the only contemporary shadow puppet performer / trainer in Singapore. Through puppetry and shadow puppetry, he has taken part and performed in Bangkok, Jogjakarta and did a solo performance, representing Singapore in Surabaya. In 2015, he went to Shanghai to perform in a physical theatre performance. He is looking forward to perform more overseas.
He is constantly learning to improve himself as learning is everlasting. Other than performing, he is also training under Grapple Max to maintain his fitness and hopefully able to contribute and spread awareness for the wrestling community in Singapore.
Do watch out for his performances on stage, screen and hopefully one day, in the ring.
