Gayane Balyan (Gàya Né) is an Armenian actress and dancer. She was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia to a family of engineers. Gayane began acting as a child in minor stage productions and trained as a ballet dancer by Maria Divanyan, Opera and Ballet soloist.
In 2002 she was admitted to the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography. After graduating the university in 2006, Gayane began her professional acting career by joining "Goy Theatre" after Armen Mazmanyan as a full-time actress (formed in 1988 and considered to be among one of the most reputable theaters in Armenia). Her theater performances include: "The king of Cilicia", as the Queen in 2009, "Honey" by Tonino Guerra, as the Nun in 2010, "The End" by Samuel Beckett, as the assistant to director in 2011, "The Rape" by Dario Fo, as the woman in 2013, "Macbett" by Eugene Lonesco, as the witch in 2014, Pirate's tale, as the captain of the pirates in 2015, "The sunrise and the sunset of the century" as the witness in 2015, "Maro" by Hovhannes Tumanyan, as Maro in 2016, "Retelling" by Nanor Petrosyan, as the secretary in 2016, "Aralez" by Aghasi Ayvazyan, as Sofia in 2017 and so on.
She gained recognition by appearing in short films and television series, and first for her role as Ms. Petrosyan, teacher of the school, in a TV series called "Angel's School" (2011-12). She made her feature film debut in TV drama "Three Lifes" as Liana (2013). She attracted widespread recognition in 2014 for her role as Mariam in the TV show "Shadows of the Past". The show itself had a great amount of success among the viewers as well as the critics. She went on to star in the Armenian drama film "Hidden Love" (2016) and appeared in the short TV Series "Cart Blanche" that same year. In 2016 Armenian media referred Gayane Balyan as "The Most Versatile Young Actress" in Armenian television and motion industry.
In April 2017, on World Theater Day, she was rewarded with the certificate from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia for her huge investment and conscientious work in the Armenian theatre industry.
