Cassandra James, who portrays Dr. Terry Randolph on General Hospital, has revealed she’s returning to Port Charles for the first time since October 2023. The actress made the announcement on her Threads account on Wednesday, March 6, writing, “First day on set since October. Almost half a year. Choosing gratitude because I know most actors have waited longer.” She continued, “Just imagine if the job you trained to do, that you’re good at and you love was consistently demonstrated to be ephemeral. That having a second job was not only normalized but systemically suggested. When you come home and stream our work on your TV, artists are wondering why we rarely feel valued enough to make our job a living.” According to SoapOperaNetwork, James, who is trans, joined General Hospital in June 2018, when her character was introduced as a childhood male friend of Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Hurst). Visibility is everything for the LGBTQ community and in 2022 we’re seeing more of it in daytime, from The Young and the Restless‘s same sex wedding in May between lovebirds Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes), to the villainous Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) on Days of Our Lives who just happens to be gay. On ABC’s General Hospital, there have been several gay characters, but the casting of Cassandra James as Terry Randolph broke new ground since she was the first trans actor to play a trans character in daytime television. “I’ve been recurring on Gh for four-plus years now,” James told TV Insider. “They really have taken such beautiful care of Terry over the last few years and they really built this beautiful presence for her in the show and in the world of Port Charles.” Terry’s love life has gotten a boost lately...

Ingo Rademacher was fired from ABC's General Hospital earlier this year.
The star was let go from the medical after refusing to follow the mandate that cast members be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Rademacher is now suing ABC, according to Variety.

According to Variety, Rademacher shared an email he sent to Disney's Hr department in October.
It reads as follows:
I am entitled to a religious exemption against mandatory vaccination for Covid-19 on the basis of my deeply and sincerely held moral belief that my body is endowed by my creator with natural processes to protect me and that its natural integrity cannot ethically be violated by the administration of artificially created copies of genetic material, foreign to nature and experimental.

Longtime General Hospital cast member Steve Burton is leaving the ABC show due to his refusal to comply with the production’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
Burton confirmed his long-rumored departure on Instagram today. “I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculations about me and General Hospital and I wanted you to hear it from me personally,” he says in the video. “Unfortunately, General Hospital has let me go because of the vaccine mandate.”
Watch the video below.
Burton goes on to say he sought medical and religious exemptions to the mandate but was denied by the production on both counts. “Which, you know, hurts,” he says, “but this is also about personal freedom to me.” After expressing thanks to fans – noting that he practically grew up on the show – he says, “Maybe one day if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan.

After refusing to comply with the vaccine mandate at “General Hospital,” Ingo Rademacher — who has played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the long-running soap opera since 1996 — was ousted from the show, and Monday was his final episode. Jax left on a business trip to Australia, as he has several times in the past. On Nov. 8, ABC confirmed Rademacher’s departure.
But among “General Hospital” viewers, there’s currently a deeper mystery: Is Steve Burton, who has played the popular character Jason Morgan off and on since 1991, also defying the “General Hospital” vaccine requirement, and therefore leaving for the same reason? Burton’s departure has been rumored in the fandom for weeks, but an ABC spokesperson didn’t respond to a request for comment, and Burton’s publicist did not answer several inquiries from Variety about his status on the show.

No long goodbyes for Ingo Rademacher’s General Hospital character Jasper “Jax” Jacks.
Weeks after ABC confirmed the controversial Rademacher’s departure from the daytime serial, the actor’s character broke the news in a brief exchange with ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright) on today’s episode.
“Joss didn’t tell you?,” Jax asked Carly – referencing the divorced couple’s daughter – after the two ran into each other on the street. “I’m leaving town.” The character explained that he had pressing business in Sydney, and so would return to his native Australia.
Asked by Carly whether he would be back for Thanksgiving or Christmas, Jax wasn’t optimistic: “I’m kind of on the outs with everyone in Port Charles right now.”
The line will no doubt be interpreted by viewers as a sly reference to recent real-life events. Rademacher’s departure came amidst his outspoken opposition to the production’s Covid vaccine mandate.

ABC’s General Hospital made its first post-Ingo Rademacher statement regarding one of the controversies that has surrounded his departure from the soap.
A short statement tweeted this morning from the soap’s official Twitter account states, “General Hospital stands in solidarity with the trans community.” The tweet then links to the GLAAD organization for resources and additional information on trans issues.
Last weekend, Rademacher, a longtime member of the soap’s cast, posted a retweeted image on his Instagram page that referred to Rachel Levine, the U.S. assistant secretary for health and first transgender four-star officer, as a “dude.” The Instagram post was condemned by Gh castmates Nancy Lee Grahn and transgender actor Cassandra James, and Rademacher on Monday apologized for not crossing out the word “dude” while maintaining he still did not “think it was ok” to “call a transgender an empowered woman.”

Ingo Rademacher's time on General Hospital is over.
The veteran actor will not return to the ABC soap after some of his castmates called him out for sharing an anti-transgender meme on social media.
Rademacher's final episode will air on November 22, and he will wrap up a 25 season stint.
The star caught heat over the weekend when he shared a screen-grabbed tweet that misgendered a trans woman. The same tweet also identified her as a member of "ClownTown."
The post drew criticism from fellow General Hospital stars Cassandra James, a transgender woman, and Nancy Lee Grahn.
“I am aware of a transphobic post shared by a fellow General Hospital actor. Shame on you,” James wrote on Twitter.

Longtime “General Hospital” star Ingo Rademacher is out at the long-running ABC soap opera because he declined to comply with the production’s vaccine mandate. His last episode is scheduled to air on Nov. 22, Variety confirmed.
News of his departure comes amid backlash to a transphobic meme and anti-vax sentiment he posted on social media Sunday. Rademacher has played the character Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the daytime medical drama since 1996 and has been a regular on the show for 25 of its 59 seasons.
The anti-trans meme shared by Rademacher on his Instagram account was a photo of recently elected Virginia lieutenant governor Winsome Sears, the first Black woman to hold the post, and Dr. Rachel Levine, a four-star admiral in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. The image’s caption was: “Hello, and welcome to ClownTown, where the dude on the left is an empowering woman, and the woman...

Ingo Rademacher’s latest run as General Hospital‘s Jasper “Jax” Jacks has come to an end, sources tell TVLine. His final episode is scheduled to air on Monday, Nov. 22.
Insiders tell TVLine the move stems from, at the very least, the actor’s preference not to comply with an on-set Covid vaccine mandate that went into effect at the ABC sudser on Nov. 1.

Longtime General Hospital actor Ingo Rademacher is no longer part of the cast, Deadline has confirmed. His final episode on the soap will air Nov. 22.
The reason for his departure has not been disclosed, but the actor, who joined the daytime serial in 1996 in the role of Jasper “Jax” Jacks, has been criticized by some castmates in recent weeks, first for opposing a Covid-19 vaccination mandate and, more recently, for his comments on transgender people.
Rademacher said in an Instagram video earlier today that he would address his status with the soap soon.
The actor drew criticism yesterday from castmates Nancy Lee Grahn and transgender actor Cassandra James, both of whom objected to Rademacher’s Instragram post in which he re-posted a tweet from a conservative commentator who used the word “dude” in reference to Rachel Levine, the U.S. assistant secretary for health and first transgender four-star officer.

Update, with Rademacher response General Hospital‘s Ingo Rademacher has apologized for not crossing out the word “dude” when he re-posted a tweet from a conservative commentator in which the word was used in reference to Rachel Levine, the U.S. assistant secretary for health.
In a new Instagram video, Rademacher, who might have already exited the soap, addresses a report in Deadline today that two of his General Hospital co-stars, including trans actor Cassandra James, had issued strong condemnations of Rademacher’s Instagram post over the weekend that copied a tweet in which a conservative podcaster labeled Levine a “dude.”
The original tweet from podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey mocked the notion that Levine could be considered “an empowering woman” while Winsome Sears, Virginia’s recently elected Republican lieutenant governor, who is Black, could be called a “white supremacist.”

General Hospital‘s Ingo Rademacher on Monday afternoon apologized (in part) for his sharing of a transphobic tweet, but had no comment (yet) on a report that his time with the ABC sudser has abruptly ended.
Rademacher — who off and on for many years has played Jasper “Jax” “The Differently Spelled Nickname Never Made Much Sense” Jacks — drew fire over the weekend after he shared in his Instagram Story a screen-grabbed tweet that misgendered and cast aspersion on a trans woman, and identified her as a member of “ClownTown.”

You can always count on plenty of plot twists when watching daytime soaps, and that’s also true of the Daytime Emmys, whose 2019 nominations were announced on March 20 live on CBS’s “The Talk.” Check out the full list of nominees here to see who made the cut, and scroll down to find out who didn’t.
These nominations were preceded by the pre-nominations, which were announced in January and included all the actors in each drama category whose work would then be evaluated by blue ribbon panels to decide the nominees and winners. The number-one show in those pre-nominations was “The Young and the Restless,” which had 21 actors cited across seven races. It was shocking then to see that only five of those actors made the final list of nominees.

General Hospital fans have been treated to their first glimpse of Liz’s (Rebecca Herbst) childhood friend Terry. Cassandra James plays the former Bff of Port Charles’ fave nurse, and is one of the first ever transgender actors to portray a transgender character in a soap. Over 10 years ago ABC’s now defunct soap All My Children featured a transgender character, Zoe Luper. Actor Jeffrey Carlson, who is not transgender, starred in the role. Then in 2015 The Bold and the Beautiful made television history when they cast transgender actor Scott Turner Schofield as “transgender mentor” Nick. Cassandra James began the medical […]
