The average high temperature in Quebec City in March is 33 degrees Fahrenheit, with a low of around 18. That’s apparently of no consequence to the locals, who have chosen the month for an outdoor music festival appropriately dubbed Igloofest. The annual event, billed as “the coldest music festival in the world,” is an opportunity for Québécois music lovers to flex their winter gear, with revelers in full-body ski suits, snow goggles, and what appears to be the most advanced outdoor apparel on the market.

PinkPantheress is ready to get back to the music with the release of her latest single, “Turn it Up,” marking the musician’s first release since sharing her debut album Heaven Knows in 2023. The propulsive, skittering record builds around a sample of Selena Quintanilla’s “Dreaming of You.”
“Super excited to share my first release of 2024, turn it up, so proud to pay homage to a beautiful song and I hope the people love it too,” PinkPantheress, who wrote and produced the song, shared in a statement. Throughout “Turn it Up,...

Noah Cyrus’s relationship with Pinkus was kept under wraps until April 2023. Since then, the couple has announced their engagement and made several fashion-forward appearances at media events. Most recently, the 24-year-old singer and fashion designer went low-key with a date night at an LA Lakers basketball game. And by low-key, we mean Cyrus looked pretty unimpressed throughout the evening.

(New York, New York – October 24, 2023) – Today, Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter/arranger/producer Yebba returns with the long-awaited beautifully-arranged new single bundle, ‘Waterfall (I Adore You),’ which had even hip-hop’s biggest star, Drake, requesting its release. The bundle also includes an alternate version featuring Sweata, all via RCA Records.
The 19-year-old church and New York-bred musician and R&b artist, producer & songwriter Sweata lends his soulful “boom bap infused” touch to the single, written by Yebba and co-penned with James Francies, Justin Tyson, Burniss Travis, Charles Myers and Malachi Mabson. This track is the first of new music to come since her live five-song EP, full of powerful recordings of songs from Yebba’s critically acclaimed, unbarred and honest debut album Dawn.
Her last EP saw her work with her band leader, James Francies on a cover of John Mayer’s “The Age of Worry.” With the critically lauded Mark Ronson producing the album,...

One of my most anticipated races this Grammy season is for the newly added Best Pop Dance Recording award. The category is meant to honor pop songs with strong dance and electronic elements, and was likely established to avoid the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category becoming a pure popularity contest. When big stars like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, or Justin Timberlake were nominated there against true electronic musicians, it often favored the pop acts. So with this new category, the Recording Academy can give a fair shake to both and nominate even more great material. But who exactly will be the contenders?
Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” could arise as the potential front-runner. She’s a previous winner with both dance/electronic voters and pop voters, and the song will likely be the biggest hit eligible in the category. Of course, sales alone can’t win you a Grammy, but...

Over the last couple of years, the Dominican producer Diego Raposo has been dreaming up brilliantly strange soundscapes, architecting a world all his own. He’s bent pop structures into uncanny, futuristic experiments both as a solo artist — his 2018 album Caribe Express continues to be a seminal indie favorite — and as a go-to collaborator for artists like Danny Ocean. But on his new album Yo No Era Así Pero de Ahora en Adelante, Sí, he reaches deeper into his creative depths, turning out completely voltaic, unpredictable new songs.

Lesser minds might call Sweet Justice a breakup album, but the project’s title comes more from Maidza’s newfound relationships with friends like Stint, Kaytranada, and Flume — who produced the record — rather than any ill will she could wish toward an ex. “Sweet Justice was a way for me to channel my emotions from what I’ve experienced in the last two years,” the rapper said in a statement. “It’s a diary of things and thoughts I’ve kept to myself. Producer Kaytranada and Portland rapper Aminé have paired up for a full-length collaborative project, under the portmanteau KAYTRAMINÉ. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify.
The album reunites the two artists after nearly a decade of mutual behind-the-scenes support that resulted in three Kaytranada-produced tracks on Aminé’s 2015 mixtape, Calling Brio. The 11-track effort includes features from Pharrell Williams, Freddie Gibbs, Snoop Dogg, and Big Sean.
Lead single “4Eva” features production and a vocal assist from Williams. Watch the music video, directed by frequent Aminé collaborator Jack Begert, below.
“4Eva” was followed by the second preview “Rebuke.” KAYTRAMINÉ arrives after a similar year-plus release gap for both artists. On Kaytraminé, their first collaborative album, producer Kaytranada and rapper Aminé create a carefree summer soundtrack. Kaytranada is pictured floating in a pool on the album’s cover, brandishing a smoldering joint with laissez-faire cool that echoes his production style, which is rife with beats that ripple in slow motion and synthesizers that reverberate like fireworks. Alongside Kaytra, Aminé is seen leaning forward, champagne flute in hand, with a mischievous smile, all perfectly mirroring his dynamism as an Mc.

UK post-hardcore outfit Static Dress have inked a major deal with Roadrunner Records, which is reissuing the band’s 2022 debut album Rouge Carpet Disaster in an expanded “Redux” edition, due out September 15th.
To mark the signing, the band offered up one of the new tracks included on the upcoming collection, an updated version of “Courtney, just relax,” featuring Canadian hardcore band World of Pleasure.
The song showcases Static Dress’ ability to create murky and atmospheric soundscapes out of densely layered screams and an onslaught of bent post-hardcore guitar phrases. The compositional complexities should also cater to fans of progressive metal and mathy metalcore, with Static Dress lying at the ambiguous intersection of these various sub-genres.
The band broke onto the scene with 2021’s Prologue… (Comic Book Soundtrack) EP — an ambition project that involved an actual comic book. Static Dress followed that up last year with the independently released full-length Rouge Carpet Disaster,...

A pink moon shone bright over three archways flanked by stairs bathed in colored light. From stage-right, old Hollywood feathers covered the woman of the hour, carried onstage by her dancers á la Cleopatra. A dancer came out, announcing the arrival of “La divina Kali Uchis.”
Kali Uchis at Radio City Music Hall 5/5/23
The feathers parted, and the spotlight turned to Uchis, a monochrome red vision in a long-sleeved top paired with thigh-high heeled boots and a short skirt. Greeted by a shrieking crowd, she boldly kicked the night off with “telepatía.

The Grammy for Best New Artist is often criticized. Some think the award is a curse, and oftentimes goes to artists who don’t end up being relevant for long. Another common criticism is that it’s often late to the party on certain acts, nominating them after their peak or a year or two after they were actually new to the music scene. Still, in the grand scheme of things, many of the nominations or wins artists get, even if they’re late, are deserved. Here are four artists who got their Bna spotlight a bit later than they should’ve.

If you check predictions for the 2022 Grammy nominations, you’ll see that Måneskin were pretty much locked in for a Best New Artist nomination. This made total sense: the band had a banner year with their single “Beggin’” and their international success from Eurovision.

Don Toliver albums are not what you would call “textually rich.” For stretches, they can seem almost ambient: all purple neon, Xannied-out synthesizers, a never ending montage of nightclubs and bedrooms and cash registers. What sticks out is the timbre of the R&b-trap singer’s voice, which can be a remarkable instrument, capable of conveying immense pathos even (and perhaps especially) when he is not saying much at all. Because of the richness of his voice, there’s always been a sense, on previous LPs, of something being held back.

Beyoncé and the contemporary Christian music collective Maverick City Music each won the most awards with four trophies. The lineup for Saturday April 15 & 22 includes headliner Blackpink along with Rosalía, boygenius, Charlie Xcx and many more.
Sundays at this year’s festival — April 16 & 23 — will see Frank Ocean headline after performances from Björk, Kali Uchis and Porter Robinson.
