Raphael Mallari is a Filipino American filmmaker residing in California. While he directs his own films, he primarily specializes in film & video editing.
He started his passion for making videos during his 8th-grade making Youtube sketches. Once he was attending Archbishop Mitty High School, he started using videos for creative projects in class. From there, he operated as the school's Associate Student Body Media Coordinator both his Junior and Senior year.
Once Raphael graduated high school, he attended UC Santa Cruz initially as an Economics Major, only to switch to Film and Digital Media later on. Raphael's interest in filmmaking transitioned into more of a career and form of expression as he started working for media companies and directing his own short film.
He eventually graduated from UCSC and took a year-long break before getting admitted to San Francisco State University's Cinema Graduate program. As soon as he entered the cinema program, he began working on his 1st-year film "Love for Food", which ended up screening in several film festivals in California, including Cinequest.
Raphael is also a member of the Professional Cinematic Fraternity Delta Kappa Alpha. He has met talented filmmakers through the organization and has contributed in the filmmaking community both in DKA and at SFSU.
