Hayao Miyazaki is considered one of the best animators of all time, and his work with Studio Ghibli includes some of the most beloved and acclaimed animated films in the history of the medium. The animator has helped change anime and animation so much that he refuses to permanently retire, choosing instead to deliver masterpiece after masterpiece and exploring different genres and tones, all while remaining true to his trademark themes and characters — determined heroines, magical realism, and anti-war messages. Miyazaki seems determined to continue working even if it means threatening the future of his studio after he's gone because he's yet to pick a successor.
While many people are familiar with Miyazaki's output with Studio Ghibli, not many know about his work prior to co-founding the studio with Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. And yet, it is in that pre-Ghibli era that we find hints of the maestro that Miyazaki would become,...

However, they debuted the Amy & Tj Podcast in December 2023 and have continued to discuss their lives as a couple.
They’ve previously spoken about taking trips together, including a story about Holmes being accused of stealing on a flight they were on together.

Next year will be 40 years since the premiere of Barry Levinson’s and Chris Columbus’ Young Sherlock Holmes, in which Nicholas Rowe (now 57) portrayed a young version of the famous detective. The screenplay was just based on Doyle’s original characters and was supposed to present the famous detective to a younger audience. And while we were promised a sequel, it never happened and the movie became a part of history, and still a much-beloved children’s film. But, it has been confirmed that we are going to go back to a younger Sherlock Holmes, although in a somewhat different format.
Namely, Amazon Prime has confirmed that an eight-episode series titled Young Sherlock has been ordered, with a tentative release date set for sometime in 2025, although details on the series are still scarce, we do – as you will soon see – have some important updates for you.

Balance is key in the world of “The Yin-Yang Master”. Light and darkness, science and music, beauty and horror, the real and the unreal: none of these things can exist without the other in the fantastical works of author Baku Yumemakura, which have served as inspirations for cinema, manga, stage plays, video games and even ice skating sets! 2001's “Onmyoji” was the first big-screen outing for Yumemakura's complicated folklore figure Abe no Seimei, laying the groundwork for the celebrated yin yang master to become a popular hero for audiences around the world. With the exception of its 2003 sequel, each subsequent film exists in a vacuum, with viewers new to the lore and character able to pick up any one of them in any order and thankfully still get the full experience. The latest is Shimako Sato's “The Yin-Yang Master Zero”, a well-mounted and entertaining origin story for Abe no Seimei that creates a fine,...

14 years ago, we were all shocked by the new take on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it presented the new vision of our favorite detective and modernized the whole story of his exploits.
Just a year before that the world saw Guy Ritchie’s adaptation, set in the 1890s just like the canon, yet offered a more dynamic narration with lots of action sequences. This movie was received not as positively as the series that aired from 2010 to 2017, however, Reddit’s recent discussion concludes that Ritchie’s version holds up significantly better.
It was Redditor @saylorthrift who started this debate, and their hot takes surprisingly gained large support. Overall, it is stated that the 2009 movie has aged better than Moffat and Gatiss’ show because of its cast, setting, atmosphere, as well as screenplay.

Amateur sleuth shows used to be popular in the pre-csi era of television.
These series showcased detectives who were not police officers, were often quirky, and could best the cops at solving murders -- if they could get them to listen.
You're right if you think that sounds exactly like CBS' Elsbeth. Elsbeth has more in common with amateur sleuth series of the past than with the show it spun off from, The Good Wife.
Elsbeth is a modern take on classic shows like Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and Diagnosis Murder. Most shows it owes a debt to are no longer on television, but streaming services have given them new life.

Nowadays, they've fallen out of favor -- these mysteries mostly air as movies on the Hallmark channel.

During their podcast, the couple shared what they knew of Marciano from working with him and mentioned there were “sketchy” details related to what they’d seen about his firing.
They also indicated that they “walked down that road” before, referring to their situation at ABC News over a year ago.
Robach and Holmes co-hosted ABC’s GMA3 but were terminated by the network in early 2023 after they made headlines for what some deemed a scandalous affair, as they each had spouses.
They’ve discussed aspects of their relationship and terminations following the debut of their iHeartRadio podcast last December.

There is no denying that Robert Downey Jr. is an effortlessly cool person. And he perfectly portrayed the enigmatic Sherlock Holmes on screen a few years back. But even the smoothest operator can have some questionable ideas sometimes. Therefore, while preparing for the iconic role, Downey Jr. considered a look more specifically decided to grow a creepy-looking mustache to give the character a significant look.

Susan Downey, his wife and producing partner, however, thankfully intervened at the right moment. A recent Harper’s Bazaar article sheds light on this intriguing tidbit. Downey Jr.’s initial vision, while likely interesting, was apparently nudged in a different direction by Susan Downey’s keen eye.

T.J. Holmes explained that he had to remain “calm” on a “wild flight” with Amy Robach after a fellow passenger made accusations.
According to Holmes, a woman on their recent flight “accused” him of stealing her phone after it went missing.
At the time, the former ABC Good Morning America and GMA3 anchors said they were in first class traveling to Los Angeles, California, as part of their recent trip to Turks and Caicos.
Holmes explained that he’d left his seat, 5C, to use the restroom, and when he returned, a “little old lady” from seat 1F was standing there and asked if he’d seen a phone in the restroom.
He said that after telling her he hadn’t seen a phone, the woman stepped toward him and gestured, almost as if she was ready to “frisk” him.
“Oh, you don’t have it?” Holmes said the woman asked him.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are no strangers to unceremonious exits from ABC News, so they sympathize with recently ousted meteorologist Rob Marciano, who was fired over alleged “temper” issues. The couple spoke about their “friend and colleague” on the latest episode of their Amy & T.J. Podcast, where they mentioned how someone recently “reminded” the couple that “nobody leaves ABC News in a pretty fashion.” “It’s a tough situation,” Robach said, per People. “We have walked down that road and it’s not an easy one. And I think [Marciano] might still be going through a divorce. So we know what it’s like to have your entire life upended, career and personal life. And we both have known Rob for a long time.” Robach and Holmes were former co-anchors of the ABC daytime talk show GMA3 but were put on hiatus in December 2022 after news of their workplace relationship became public.

Many things weigh on Aza Holmes, the anxious protagonist of Hannah Marks’ Turtles All the Way Down, but none more than the existence of bacteria. Thoughts of these microorganisms — the ease with which they can infiltrate a body and the chances of infection — plague her. She worries about a wound on her left middle finger, a slit in the skin she can’t let heal. Picking at the sore relieves her obsessive thought spirals, but it also activates a new round of worries about contamination, disease and the impossibility of safety.
Aza, played by Isabela Merced (Madame Web) has anxiety and Ocd, conditions that make the already challenging experience of high school even more difficult. Turtles All the Way Down, which Marks (Don’t Make Me Go) adapted from John Green’s novel of the same name, is a mostly moving portrait of how one teenager navigates her mind’s unruly terrain.

Reminiscing about the glory days of youth? Don’t. Bestselling author John Green — whose work has spawned a legion of big- and small-screen adaptations — certainly doesn’t. In Green’s stories, teenagehood is hard enough (and then some) as his beloved characters go through puberty, prom, and first love in tandem with far bigger worries ranging from cancer to obsessive compulsive disorder. People go missing, people aren’t ever found, people die.
It’s not exactly the stuff of popcorn entertainment, but Green’s stories always place a premium on the viewpoint of the kids who experience them and the youngsters who observe them. Being a teenager? It’s not for the faint of heart. Being a Green teen? Well, at least someone is treating you like an adult.
The latest Green adaptation, “Turtles All the Way Down,” offers yet another sterling example of that mindset and the power of it.

Like a much-needed lift, Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 6 brings things right back to what makes the show so fun.
After the tonal shift with the last episode, Elsbeth brought back the perfect amount of camp by bringing in the murderous Dr. Vanessa Holmes, played by the always talented and scene-stealing Gina Gershon.
From New Amsterdam as Jeanie Bloom to Chucky as herself, the actress's flawless face has graced the small screen many times in recent years.
However, in true Elsbeth fashion, Gina Gershon has already been seen as the former first lady in The Good Fight Season 3 Episode 6, "The One with the Celebrity Divorce."
Stepping back into The Good Wife universe in killer shoes, viewers are treated to her portrayal of a cosmetic surgeon turned vengeful murderess.
Sometimes, the plot writes itself.

Senior royal family members are a network of high-ranking members a monarch can rely on to carry out duties for them. Working royals are higher up in the line of ascension than non-working royals. As they work every day to assist Crown Inc., there are questions as to how they are compensated. How much money do senior royals make? How do they get paid?
Personal income and taxpayer money paid senior royals
The number of current working royals under King Charles is less than during Queen Elizabeth’s reign. This stark difference is due to a dwindling pool of senior royal family members and an aging workforce.
The working royals draw on an expense account called The Sovereign Grant, a lump sum paid by the United Kingdom’s government and taxpayers.
The Grant pays for costs associated with official duties such as staff, security, and travel. As of April 2024, the Sovereign Grant was worth $108 million.

Survival horror is slowly once again picking up some steam in gaming, and Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets is continuing that trend. Developed by @TonyDevGame, a solo indie developer who released the game’s prologue earlier this year, the game aims to send shivers down your spine while also giving you a gun to shoot scary puppets with.
The question now arises: is Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets good? Or more specifically, does it redefine or at least try to reinvent the survival horror genre? The answer is, unfortunately, almost.
Too Many Puppets, Not Enough Mastery
Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets looks great but leaves much to be desired.
The story set up by Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets is actually quite interesting and is one of the better elements of the game. Throughout the game, as you come across more and more puppets, you end up asking yourself...

A quartet of fast-rising British names are coming together for a buzzy new project launching at the Cannes market.
Bella Ramsey, Louis Partridge and Ruby Stokes are set to lead Sunny Dancer, the sophomore feature from George Jaques. Embankment Films is handling global pre-sales of the film, which it says showcases the “best of new British talent.”
“Sunny Dancer” follows Ivy (Ramsey), a teenager in remission from cancer, whose gloriously outspoken mum and well-intentioned dad insist she attend Children Run Free Camp, a summer retreat for young adults affected by cancer. The camp’s slogan, “Where kids come to kid,” does little to alleviate Ivy’s apprehension, and a quick Google search confirms her fears when she stumbles upon a cringeworthy promotional video filled with tacky messages and clichéd sunsets. As if conquering cancer wasn’t enough of a challenge, Ivy now faces the prospect of spending her summer at what she calls “chemo camp.

Epic war-time survival tale “The Guns of Muschu” has already assembled a weighty cast ahead of a production start in the first quarter of 2025.
The film is an adaptation of the non-fiction book “The Guns of Muschu,” written by Don Dennis, with an adapted screenplay by Tom Broadhurst and Jack Brislee (“Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan”). The narrative brings to life a pivotal chapter of Australian war history with gritty authenticity, recounting the high body count Operation Copper, a mission during WWII when Australian and New Zealand troops were sent into the jungles of Papua New Guinea.
The objective of the mission was to investigate the Japanese defenses on Muschu Island, capture a Japanese officer for interrogation and discover the location of two naval guns on the island that were protecting a harbor. Eight commandos were landed as part of the operation, but only one survived.

Whether you like it or not, Sherlock Holmes is the man “who never lived and will never die.” Ever since being created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887, the iconic detective has been ever-present in popular culture: for 137 years, Sherlock Holmes has been investigating mind-boggling cases, uncovering conspiracies, and catching criminals. And he’s not stopping any time soon, we’ll tell you that much!
Sherlock Holmes Will Be Back on Pages
94 years after Conan Doyle’s death, the author’s descendants recently gave their blessing to writer Gareth Rubin (The Turnglass & The Winter Agent). It has been more than 15 years since Guy Ritchie released his Sherlock Holmes offering with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role. A lot has changed in the film industry since then, with the 59-year-old becoming a mega star thanks to his pivotal involvement in the MCU.
Now that Downey Jr. has hung up his Iron Man suit, he is interested in making a third offering in the Sherlock Holmes film series. This is reportedly in the pipeline, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. It has been announced that there will be at least one spinoff series, though, which could be set to reinvigorate the franchise.
Detective Remains at Forefront of Popular Culture
There are rumours that there will be two spinoff series, which are due to be released on HBO Max. This could be a clever move from the streaming service, as the Sherlock Holmes brand is massive in popular culture.

On Thursday, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri Cruise, turns 18 years old.
Suri rose to fame as an infant in 2006 when she was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair with Cruise and Holmes at five months old. Photographed by Annie Leibowitz, the cover shows Cruise swaddling a young Suri in his jacket as Holmes looks down in adoration.
In 2012, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage. Following the divorce and Cruise’s involvement with the group Scientology, Holmes has kept Suri out of the spotlight and away from Cruise. Suri has no relationship with Cruise.
In 2023, Holmes told Glamour magazine she was protecting Suri from the public because “she was so visible at a young age.”
Suri’s last public appearance with her father was at Disney World Florida in July 2012. Photographs captured the father-daughter pair attending rides and spending time together at the amusement park.

Bridgerton season three is almost upon us (part one lands on Netflix on May 16) and the first full trailer has arrived to prove it.

Desperate to break out of the Featherington home and frustrated by her failure to attract attention from the ton, Penelope enlists the services of childhood pal Colin Bridgerton. With Colin’s tuition, a suitable beau can’t be far away. In fact, one might just be very close indeed…
