Bollywood icon, Shreya Ghoshal, has spoken exclusively to BBC Asian Network’s Haroon Rashid about what it’s like to be touted as the next Lata Mangeshkar, bridging the gap for the next generation, and finding her place in the industry.
Speaking on how she feels about being called “the next Lata”, Ghoshal says, “I refuse to process it”. Adding, “It just goes in one ear and out the other.”
“I’m sure there’s a generation that’s not heard Lata Ji and I am probably trying to bridge that gap for them to access her. That’s why I keep singing her songs and talking about her, because we need to celebrate greats.”

New Delhi, May 21 (Ians) The Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) on Sunday confirmed head coach Grant Bradburn and team director Mickey Arthur among three new members in the national men’s selection committee, which will select senior, Shaheens and U19 sides.
In the Haroon Rashid-led selection committee, Bradburn and Arthur will be joined by Hassan Cheema, the selection committee secretary and manager analytics and team strategy for national men’s side.
Pcb said in its statement that the presence of Cheema, who has worked as strategy manager and data analyst in franchise cricket around the world, Arthur and Bradburn will aid in strategising for the approaching and upcoming series, enhance the bench strength and provide a proper pathway to performing players in Shaheens and U19 sides to graduate to the national side.

Lahore, April 24 (Ians) The Management Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) has been given a two-month extension by the Pcb Patron and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The notification of the extension was issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (Ipc).
The 12-member Management Committee is headed by Najam Sethi as Chairman and has former cricketers Shafqat Rana and Haroon Rashid among members.
The Management Committee was appointed for four months on December 22, 2022, to restore the 2014 Pcb Constitution in its letter and spirit. This included, among other things, restoration and integration of departmental cricket in the domestic structure so that the careers and future of professional cricketers can be secured, elections at the district/zonal/regional level and composition of a democratic and elected Board of Governors.
In this regard, significant work has already taken place, it was noted on Sunday.
