02 June 2023 – Hot on the heels of the triumphant release of his debut album, When It Blooms, today Canada-based Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Nonso Amadi shares the official music video for a standout track on the record “Kilimanjaro” ft. Beam through Def Jam Recordings/Polydor Records/McA/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
Backdropped by the beautiful beaches of Jamaica, Amadi and Beam create a vibrant vacation-ready vibe with picturesque sights surrounding them, reflecting the celebratory mark of the album being out in the world for a full week. The video parallels the song’s radiantly smooth combination of Amadi’s Afro-r&b and Beam’s dancehall edge. An impressive array of more than 50 Canadian recording artists have pooled their talents for a new single to promote an excellent cause.
Produced by legendary Canadian music producer Bob Ezrin, and executive produced by Randy Lennox (Loft Entertainment) and Carrie Mudd (Peacock Alley Entertainment), the anthem “What I Wouldn’t Do (North Star Calling)” weaves Serena Ryder’s inspiring message and profound lyrics from her song “What I Wouldn’t Do” with Leela Gilday’s sonically beautiful bridge from “North Star Calling”.
The single, released on March 2, kicks off Kids Help Phone‘s new initiative to help Canadian youth “feel out loud” and express their emotions in a safe and supported way, anchored by a fundraising goal of $300 million to reach every young person in Canada by 2024 by expanding access to Kids Help Phone’s e-mental health services.

What does Black History Month mean in 2023?
For Shad, it’s about telling a fuller story.
“To me, what Black History Month means is shining a light on a lot of our history that’s been erased or downplayed,” the Toronto rapper and Emmy award-winning host explains to Et Canada. “Part of what that does is it introduces so many new possibilities to the imagination, especially of Black people. When our history is erased or reduced, it limits our imagination as far as what’s possible for us.”
But it’s also, quite simply, about having a “more complete history, period,” he adds. “If you don’t have the Black presence and you don’t have the Black perspective, then you have a limited story.”
