Could The CW have one last Arrowverse crossover up its sleeve? Following remarks made by Tom Cavanagh at a convention over the weekend, TVLine has confirmed that the Flash vet will appear in the series finale of Superman & Lois, appropriately titled “It Went By So Fast.”
Cavanagh originally hoped to direct the pivotal episode, having previously helmed the Season 1 finale and Season 3 premiere, but the gig was already promised to frequent Superman & Lois director Gregory Smith. That’s when showrunner Todd Helbing got an idea, one that will leave fans theorizing for months to come.

This article contains spoilers for Smallville.
There’s no doubt that Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) were the right endgame for Smallville. And not just because Lois and Clark almost always inevitably end up together. Their years of loathing turning to respect and then love makes for some great TV, and Durance and Welling’s chemistry is incredible. However, even though Smallville mostly hit the mark with Clark’s love-life by the end of the series, his first love, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), deserved so much better than the arc she was given.
By the time Clark and Lana get together in the series, Lana already knows that something is up with Clark. He’s somehow always there to save her when she’s in danger or just generally involved with all of the weird stuff going on in town. His farm boy charms also aren’t really...

Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in Smallville, is opening up about the idea he has for a sequel series in an animated form.
In a new interview, Rosenbaum revealed he and Tom Welling were developing an animated series with the original cast and creators of the show that originated in 2001 on the now-defunct WB network.
“All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar], the creators of Smallville, backing us up,” Rosenbaum said in an interview with Screen Rant. “When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this: pitch to Warner Bros. Alan Ritchson has become well-known for playing beefy characters with a strong sense of justice after starring in Titans as Hank Hall/Hawk and his current gig as the titular hero in Prime Video’s Reacher. Stepping into a bonafide superstar like Tom Cruise’s shoes is not an easy task and comes with a ton of expectation. But Alan Ritchson has proved that he has what it takes to pull off this feat. The star took over from Cruise as the enigmatic protagonist Jack Reacher in the Amazon Prime television series. While the Cocktail star’s undisputed charisma made him a great choice for the films, Ritchson’s domineering physical presence worked perfectly for author Lee Child’s popular fictional character.

Alan Ritchson has been rapidly ascending Hollywood's A-list in recent years. Much of that has to do with the fact that he's now headlining Amazon's "Reacher" series as the titular Jack Reacher, as well as appearing in supporting roles in movies like "Fast X." With a third season of the hit Prime Video series on the way, it's clear that the show is connecting with audiences, and Ritchson is owed a lot of credit for his part in that. Leading a TV show is something the actor has worked hard and long for, dating back to early in his career when the opportunity to headline a series was ripped right out from under him.
Ritchson spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for the "Reacher" season 2 premiere. The actor spoke about his long journey to becoming a lead actor on a show, describing it as "a long time coming.

We all love a good superhero origin story. Sure, it’s great to see Spider-Man swing from buildings, but it’s what Uncle Ben tells a young Peter Parker that touches us all. We all love seeing Batman kick the Joker’s teeth in, but we are all fascinated by that tragic night in Crime Alley. So it’s no surprise that the first and greatest superhero of all time should have a TV show about what defines him. There is a reason why Clark Kent is the best of us. While Batman may be the ultimate example of physical perfection, Superman is the pinnacle of the goodness of humanity. But fans have always debated: is Superman Clark Kent, or is Clark Kent just a disguise? I have always argued Superman is just a cape. Clark is the hero who wears it. Smallville is the case for my belief in...

“Chlois,” it turns out, was — for a hot second, and before Smallville was ever pitched as a series — more than just what would one day be a wild fan theory.
Back during the superhero drama’s run, “Chlois” was a theory that Chloe Sullivan (played by original cast member Allison Mack) would somehow, some way turn out to be the iconic Lois Lane — possibly by adopting “Lois Lane,” her onetime pseudonym, as a new identity (and by some accounts, gulp, in the wake of the real Lois’ demise).

Jack Reacher originated in the series of novels by Lee Child, in which he's described as 250 pounds, 6-ft 5-inches, and as having "a six-pack like a cobbled city street, a chest like a suit of NFL armor, biceps like basketballs, and subcutaneous fat like a Kleenex tissue." But when Hollywood got a hold of him, they hired Tom Cruise to portray that mountain of muscle in 2012's "Jack Reacher" and 2016's "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back." Unfortunately, at 5-ft 7 inches, the "Mission: Impossible" star just didn't work for many fans. An article in the LA Times quotes one incensed Reacher adherent thusly:
"I can not [sic] believe they actually used an arrogant overexposed short Imbecile to create such an awesome character. I will not see it and it literally Ruined the whole character for me. How Could They Do This?"
After "Never Go Back," Cruise's diminutive version of the ex-military police officer disappeared.

A journey filled with love, laughter, wonder, nostalgia, peak superhero amusement, and emotional conflicts comes to an end with My Adventures With Superman season finale episode titled Hearts of the Fathers. In the previous episode, Clark was able to escape from General Sam Lane’s captivity, even in his depowered form. He battled with a Kaiju-sized, empowered Parasite armor-clad Dr. Ivo and emerged victorious with the help of Lois, Jimmy, and the citizens of Metropolis. Sam’s initial belief about Superman being a weapon of invading alien aggressors started to falter, and realizing this, Amanda Waller craftily ousted him from his role as Task Force X chief. On the other hand, Clark learns that denizens of his birth planet, Krypton, were behind the Zero Day invasion twenty-two years ago (coinciding with his arrival on Earth), which led General Sam to believe Superman to be a threat. DC’s The Flash had a lot of buzz around it prior to release, partly through the exploits of star Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton once again donning the cowl to play Batman. Once The Flash flopped, most of the conversation that was left centered on the special appearances from other DC characters, including a brief one from Christopher Reeve’s iconic take on Superman. But not everyone thought it was a touching inclusion.

The Jenna Ortega-starring “Wednesday” is headed back to Netflix for a second season, and Ortega is once again promising a more horror-heavy focus for the show’s return.
Ortega, who has now become an Executive Producer on “Wednesday,” tells Variety this week, “With a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved, I didn’t want to get her wrong. So I tried to have as many conversations as possible with the writers. We’d decide what works and what doesn’t. “It’s still coming together, but we’ve decided we want to lean into the horror more,” Ortega continues, echoing similar comments she recently made. “We’re ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great.
Ortega, who has now become an Executive Producer on “Wednesday,” tells Variety this week, “With a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved, I didn’t want to get her wrong. So I tried to have as many conversations as possible with the writers. We’d decide what works and what doesn’t. One of Smallville’s worst-kept secrets is finally out in the open — and we’re not talking about how Clark Kent sometimes likes to wear his underwear on the outside of his pants.
Tuesday’s episode of Superman & Lois clued Lana into Kyle’s budding relationship with Chrissy, something she might have been more receptive to if she didn’t catch Kyle meeting Chrissy in secret when he was supposed to be watching their daughter. Not Sarah, the other one. Darn, she’s right — people do forget about her.

It’s the walking dread! Smallville is in for some big trouble now that The Walking Dead‘s Michael Cudlitz is (bald) heading to Superman & Lois as supervillain, Lex Luthor. This isn’t the first time the iconic character created chaos on The CW. Luthor was previously played as Musk-like madman in the Arrowverse by Jon Cryer on Supergirl. This time, however, he’s getting the more-grounded S&l treatment, it seems. The official description states that Lex “is known to the world as the visionary billionaire behind LexCorp. But the criminal underworld knows who Lex truly is: a brutal psychopath who terrorizes anyone he crosses paths with. It’s been years since he dropped out of the public eye and he’s re-emerging hellbent on correcting a personal injustice by enacting revenge on the two people he feels have wronged him.” You guessed it. Those two are Superman (Tyler Hoechlin...

Jack Reacher will soon return to our screens with "Reacher" season 2. The show proved to be a huge hit for Amazon Prime Video, topping the Nielsen streaming chart and being renewed for a second season within days of the first run of eight episodes landing on the platform. Much of that likely had to do with the striking presence of series lead Alan Ritchson. The former "Smallville" and "Titans" actor fully embodied the role of the eponymous former U.S. Army Major, using his imposing frame and impressive physique to portray Reacher in a way that Tom Cruise never quite managed in the "Jack Reacher" films.
Cruise played the military police officer, who originated in Lee Child's novels, in 2012's "Jack Reacher" and 2016's "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back." But when it came time for a TV show based on the character, the legendary action star was nowhere to be found.

Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight is expanding the franchise once again with a new series currently in development at Starz. DeKnight will serve as showrunner and executive producer of the as-yet-untitled project.
The next chapter will explore uncharted territory and new journeys of the original series’ iconic characters. In the aftermath of the defeat of Spartacus and his rebel army in the series finale, the new drama will depict a new tale of treachery, deceit, and blood unfolding beneath the foreboding shadow of Rome.
“It’s such an incredible honor to be invited to return to the world of Spartacus and to be met with unbridled creative support from my colleagues at Starz and Lionsgate,” said DeKnight in a statement. “Together we are crafting something truly unique and unusual for the next chapter in this epic story.”

Comics have some incredibly iconic couples: Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Nightwing and Batgirl, Reed Richards and Sue Storm, Superman and Lana Lang ... wait a minute, that last one isn't right. Even those only tangentially familiar with Superman know that Lois Lane is his one and only. That wasn't, however, the case for Clark Kent, who fell for Lana long before meeting his future wife. So, when creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar went about telling the story of Clark's (Tom Welling) younger days in "Smallville," it was Lana and not Lois who initially stole his heart. This is not to say the writers were bound by Superman's already dense mythology, because the duo added some pretty exciting new developments to the mix, most notably making Clark's burgeoning friendship with young Lex Luthor (a brilliant Michael Rosenbaum) serve as a core element of the series.

Zack Snyder's blueprint for the DC Universe may not have come to fruition in the way that the filmmaker and his fans expected, but it's still an intriguing series of films to look back on. The beginning of Snyder's plan, which was 2013's "Man of Steel," is a good origin story for the last son of Krypton, filled with interesting lore that redefined Superman for a new generation. While some questionable decisions were made involving the film's third act, one thing that stood out was the action.
One of the biggest challenges with putting Superman into a live-action film is how you display his powers. Richard Donner's original film gave the Kryptonian a sense of wonder and awe, using the character's powers in clever ways that more often than not ended with Superman time-traveling with his incredible speed. "Superman Returns" would repeat that formula many years later, with...

Ah, the glory days of early 2000s television, when studios scrambled to capitalize on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Friends," and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Enter The WB's "Smallville," a Superman prequel based on the blue boy's formative years, before he donned the tights, red underwear, and cape. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lane, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Sam Jones III as Pete Ross, and Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, the series offered a fun spin on the Superman story and tinkered with iconic characters in a way that made them feel fresh. Lex Luthor, for example, starts out as Clark's best friend and gradually devolves into his comic-book counterpart. At the same time, Superman regulars such as Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) were given makeovers to properly update them for the modern era; ditto...

Much like couples in real life, TV couples often have terms of endearment for one another.

We've seen tons of honey, sweeties, and sugarplums, but the genuinely unique names are the ones we remember.
Check out our list of 13 adorable nicknames couples have for each other.

It’s a damn good time to be Tom Welling. The Goat of CW royalty who lifted the then-WB to heroic heights (sans tights) with Smallville is currently everywhere. He’s got a podcast with former costar Michael Rosenbaum, he threw New York Comic Con into a frenzy with his surprise appearance at The Winchesters‘ panel announcing his upcoming stint as Samuel Campbell, and of course, he has Professionals, the internationally-filmed action series he headlines with the suddenly-buzzy-again Brendan Fraser, which is currently airing on the network. Oddly, the show itself was shot years back, before the central storyline of futurist Peter Swann (Fraser) and grizzled security expert Vincent Corbo (Welling) racing to stop a global outbreak was more science fiction rather than sad fact. “We wrapped just before Covid sort of happened, I wanna say three years ago,” Welling recalls. He adds that after watching the series premiere episode,...

In the DC pantheon there is no shadow that looms larger than that of Superman. Since his debut in Action Comics #1, the publisher’s original superhero has become the pillar that the rest of the company was built around. That’s why cartoonist Sina Grace hadn’t considered writing or even pitching for the most famous hero in DC’s Trinity.
“I just didn’t ever think about Superman, because I never thought I could tell that story,” Grace tells us. That all changed, though, after he was called into pitch by then DC editor Diego Lopez. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… another Superman show! Yes, before Superman & Lois and before Smallville, the Man of Steel fell in love with a certain Daily Planet reporter in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The ABC superhero drama, developed by Deborah Joy LeVine, starred Dean Cain as Clark Kent, Superman’s alter-ego, and Teri Hatcher, the woman who quickly becomes Clark’s favorite Metropolis neighbor. Lois and Clark soon fall for one another, despite obstacles both extraterrestrial and terrestrial, like the villainous Lex Luthor (John Shea). Unfortunately, ABC canceled the show after four seasons, leaving the show unresolved: The Season 4 finale, which aired on June 14, 1997, ended on a cliffhanger. Smallville gained another hero on Tuesday’s Superman & Lois, which found the Man of Steel in need of an extra hand… or two.
That hero was none other than Natalie Irons, who finally got to test out her super suit during the team’s latest run-in with Ally. Of course, it took a bit of convincing for John Henry to “allow” his daughter to join the fight. To say that he wasn’t thrilled upon discovering Natalie’s suit would be an understatement. It was kind of like when King Triton stumbled upon Ariel’s hidden trove of human treasures.
