DragonForce have unleashed a ferocious heavy metal cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”
The song, fittingly titled “Wildest Dreams (DragonForce’s Version),” is included as a bonus track on the CD version of the band’s upcoming album, Warp Speed Warriors, out March 15th.
So far, DragonForce’s recent singles have seen them embracing some carefree novelty — from penning a Zelda-themed song to a lending their music to a VR sword-battle game tie-in — and now they’ve revealed themselves to be veritable Swifties, covering the 1989 track “Wildest Dreams” in their own hyper-shreddy style.
The casual Taylor Swift fan might not even recognize it as a cover, as guitarist Herman Li, singer Marc Hudson, and company blaze through the pop tune — as they are wont to do. The vocal hooks eventually give away the source material, but DragonForce do a solid job making this one their own without veering...

It was a night of metal madness as two of the most unique and popular bands in the genre, Baby Metal and Dethklok, joined forces for a co-headlining show at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The fans were treated to a spectacle of sound, light, and pyrotechnics that showcased the diversity and creativity of metal music.
Baby Metal, the Japanese trio consisting of Suzuka Nakamo (Su-metal), Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) and Momoko Okazaki (Momometal), opened the show with their signature blend of kawaii pop and heavy metal. They performed songs from their latest album, The Other One, as well as some of their classics like Gimme Chocolate!!, Road Of Resistance, and Megitsune. The crowd sang along to the catchy choruses and cheered for the impressive choreography and musicianship of the band and their backing band, the Kami Band. One of my favorite films that Bloody Disgusting ever released is Heavy Trip, a Finnish black metal comedy about a small-town Finnish heavy metal band that blasts its way out of the quiet countryside for a big debut gig in Norway.
The film is an absolute blast and ended up being a hit in Norway, leading first-time feature filmmakers Juuso Laatio and Jukka Vidgren back behind the camera for a sequel, tentatively titled Heavier Trip.
“That’s a wrap! Second part of Heavy trip is now shot,” the duo shared on Facebook. “And it was amazing journey from beginning to end full of weird and wonderful moments.”
“We had the privilege of working with the best people in the industry from Lithuania, Finland and Germany,” they added. “My deepest gratitude to everyone who put in the insane amount of hours to make this happen.

‘Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: Did Dethklok Find Salvation?
Adult Swim’s cult classic death metal parody series Metalocalypse has brought their latest venture in the form of the animated movie Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, which concludes the lush beauty of the gory, satanic spectacle, the bone-tickling humor, and profanity-filled self-awareness of the series with one last death smash and headbanger. Centered around the fictional death metal band Dethklok, the series pokes fun at the exalted mannerisms and myths generally associated with the heavy metal genre and celebrates its tropes and impact. It is unknown whether Kiminori Wakasugi’s manga series based on a similar subject matter, Detroit Metal City, inspired the creation of the series, but what we know for sure is that the original albums, expansive in-universe lore, and live tours in the real world have imbued a uniqueness to Metalocalypse, something that is far from waning even after a decade since the original series’ cancellation.

Dethklok are back. The Metalocalypse heroes have unleashed Dethalbum IV — the animated band’s fourth studio album — coinciding with the release of the new movie Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar. It marks the band’s first new album in 11 years.
Declared the band’s press release: “We are here to proclaim the sheer brutality of the new Dethklok album, a sonic force that shall shatter the very foundations of your mortal existence! Prepare yourselves, for it is a deathly masterpiece that will leave your souls trembling in awe!”
As fans of the animated show are no doubt aware, Dethklok features the hilarious ragtag lineup of William Murderface, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Nathan Explosion, Pickles, and Toki Wartooth.
In reality, Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small, legendary drummer Gene Hoglan, and others are behind the music of Dethklok, whose new album is another slab of extreme metal that transcends mere novelty. As is the case with the previous Dethklok albums,...

Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar is a brilliant conclusion to the epic saga of Dethklok, the world’s most popular and influential death metal band. The animated series, created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, combines dark humor, musical satire, and apocalyptic drama in a unique and original way.
This epic conclusion film delivers on the promise of resolving the mysteries and conflicts that have been building up since the first episode. The animation is stunning, the voice acting is superb, and the soundtrack is phenomenal. The show manages to balance comedy and tragedy, as well as pay homage to the genre of metal and its culture.
What was also a bit surprising to us as we were watching the film, is that there was a certain level of sentimentality that was normally not present during the original series run. The film further showcased the heart line which runs between...

The long-awaited return of Adult Swim’s favorite heavy metal adventure “Metalocalypse” arrives with a nationwide tour of the series’ on-screen band Dethklok!
A full-length original film, written and directed by Brendon Small, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, a companion soundtrack and Dethalbum IV will also arrive this year, Bloody Disgusting learned via press release.
Here are all of the deets!
Dethklok will kick off their twenty-nine-date national tour on August 30 with Japanese kawaii metal pioneers Babymetal as co-headliners and virtuoso guitarist Jason Richardson as support.
“It’s very surreal having so much new ‘Metalocalypse’ & Dethklok this year with the trifecta of the tour, movie and album,” said Small. “I’m so excited to get on the road with the powerful Babymetal, and to celebrate all the hard work that team ‘Metalocalypse’ and Dethklok put in over the last two years and beyond!”

Bassist John Regan, who played alongside Peter Frampton over a span of 40-plus years and was a member of former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley’s band Frehley’s Comet in the 1980s, has died at the age of 71.
His wife Cathy shared the news through a friend on Facebook, writing, “It is with the greatest sorrow and sadness that I let you all know John passed away this afternoon … I had heard him over the past few weeks having lengthy conversations with many of you and you brought such joy to him … Thank you all for your heartfelt messages. One of his favorite quotes was, ‘All that you can take with you is that which you’ve given away.’ From reading your messages, I know he gave much away and so much love was sent to him. He passed suddenly, but that was his wish.”

Of all the misfits in James Gunn's "Peacemaker" series, Steve Agee's John Economos, aka Dye Beard, is the most relatable. The role of the tired, sad, unappreciated It professional speaks to the universal feelings of loneliness, insecurity, and general disdain. John got one of the best lines from "The Suicide Squad" trailer ("We've got a freakin' kaiju!") and my personal favorite monologue in Gunn's follow-up spin-off show, "Peacemaker." Appearing alongside fantastic actors and wacky characters, Agee manages to make his mark.
He's also damn funny.
The actor also played Steven Ned Myron III on "The Sarah Silverman Program," and works as a comedian and musician. Agee reprised his role as Amanda Waller's tech expert in a mid-credits scene of a certain recent superhero movie, and will be returning in the upcoming second season of "Peacemaker," which is not yet in production (but is definitely coming). /Film...

Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake are getting a new look from Hollywood.
WarnerMedia’s Adult Swim plans to turn three of its most venerable properties into films that will debut first in a 90-day window via video-on-demand and Blu-ray and DVD before debuting on the streaming-video hub HBO Max and the outlet’s namesake cable outlet. ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “Metalocalypse” and “The Venture Bros.” are three of the network’s best-known series.
“Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, in a prepared statement.

Definitely not to be mistaken for the Pharrell Williams song of the same name, the macabre “Happy” is Danny Elfman’s first solo/non-score single in 36 years, and at least a small-scale answer to the prayers Oingo Boingo fans have been offering up since the film composer’s rock ‘n’ roll band went the way of all flesh in the previous millennium.
The music video for “Happy” definitely has flesh going as it will, as a digitally manipulated version of Elfman’s face decays and has eyeballs popping in and out at will. Even images of puppies turn into skeletons in the timed-for-Halloween video. If you want creepy doll heads for the holidays, too, the video is not going to deny you doll heads. Occasionally topical lyrics — especially as the song kicks into a more thrashy mode midway through — a feeling that the song might be timed to the general...

“See” is pretty metal: The Apple TV+ sci-fi series features plenty of violent battles, allusions to witches, and all manner of dystopian themes. Also, the show features two actual heavy metal musicians in a brief cameo, one of whom helped train star Jason Momoa to perform suitably bombastic war cries in the show’s pilot.
Much of the show’s first episode is dedicated to Baba Voss (Momoa) leading his village’s warriors against an invading army. Baba rallies his troops via an intense, spirited chant that includes all manner of horns, drumming, and formidable growling. It was a complicated sequence, and one that required outside counsel.
Momoa is a fan of British Columbia death metal band Archspire (death metal is characterized by its especially abrasive instrumentation and guttural vocals), and the actor invited vocalist Oli Peters to coach him on how to mimic his distinct vocal style for the...

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian summons some operatic flare for a cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s campy hard-rock classic “Godzilla” that will appear on the upcoming soundtrack album for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Throughout the bombastic cut, he commands a melodramatic vibrato in his voice to complement a full orchestra, drumming by both a Japanese taiko group and a chorus of chanting men. The members of Dethklok, from the show Metalocalypse, including Brendon Small and heavy-metal stalwart Gene Hoglan, also contributed to the track.
