If you enjoy political satires, The Accidental Prime Minister may not be the film that its makers would recommend for you. Outwardly, the intent and purpose of this fiercely political parable is to give us the “real” picture of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s parent party and how it manipulated him into fronting their dynastic designs.
And how much more real can it get than Anupam Kher as Mr Singh?! The beard, the turban ,the soft hushed barely audible voice (make sure you get your seats in a Dolby equipped theatre)…Kher gets the externals so right that we scarcely care about what lies beneath.
And what lies! If we are to believe this film, then Manmohan Singh was a baba in the woods, an angel in disguise, a scholar and academician thrown into the cesspit of politics,...

Starring Anupam Kher, The Accidental Prime Minister, directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and also featuring Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra, Arjun Mathur, Vipin Sharma and Divya Sethi is set for January 11th. The film is based on a book by the same name by Sanjaya Baru, who worked with Dr. Singh during his tenure as Prime Minister.
We have seen Mr. Kher’s incredible transformation in pictures and the poster, now we get to witness his brilliance in the trailer as we wait for the full story to come alive onscreen.

Since the very first look, audiences have been very excited about esteemed actor Anupam Kher’s portrayal of Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister. The film is based on a book by the same name by Sanjaya Baru, who worked with Dr. Singh during his tenure as Prime Minister.
We have an early special inside look into the film with this amazing interview with Anupam Kher.
Anupam revealed, “Sanjaya Baru was the media advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. He [Baru] wrote a book about Dr. Manmohan Singh, which became very popular and controversial at the same time, because he wrote about the inside stories of what goes on inside the Pmo (Prime Minister’s Office).”
He says he was fascinated by that look into offices of the government especially the Prime Minister, “We don’t make political movies where we know what happens there.
