In news likely to simultaneously delight and appall across the cinema world, a third instalment of IP-bludgeoning slasher ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ has been confirmed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers of prolific horror banner Jagged Edge Productions.
According to the producers, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles. All will no doubt be given sadistic, murderous twists.
The news comes with ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2’ now in U.S. cinemas as part of its 3-day theatrical run via Fathom Events, and just over a year after the release of the first of what is now a quick-fire three-part franchise.

Florence Pugh is back on a Marvel set. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta set where she is currently filming the upcoming Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh said in a video posted to Instagram. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.”
Pugh plays assassin Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character first appeared in 2021’s Black Widow and later in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
In her video, Pugh appears in costume, lifting the camera to show off Yelena’s suit and then moving to reveal several of the structures under construction for Thunderbolts.

Almost a decade ago, in 2015, it was announced that a Sister Act remake was in the works. However, fast-forward five years to 2020, and with Whoopi Goldberg showing interest in reprising her role as Deloris Wilson, Disney opted for a sequel, Sister Act 3, as a direct to streaming movie for Disney+ in December 2020. In the years that have followed, the presumed sequel has been stuck in production limbo without gaining much needed traction. Despite its slow pace, however, Goldberg says Sister Act 3 is still in the works!

In the fading summer of 1999, Robert Zemeckis took a break from the filming of Cast Away to make What Lies Beneath, a ghostly thriller set against the banks of Lake Champlain in picturesque Burlington, Vermont. Taking cues from several Old Hollywood classics of the genre but adding a spectral twist to the proceedings, Zemeckis went on to craft one of the most underrated and effective offerings from that era (released at a time when there was a lot of competition in flicks like Stir of Echoes and The Sixth Sense). Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford were his first choices for the lead roles — Claire and Dr. Norman Spencer, an apparently happy couple with demons to spare — and swiftly made themselves available. Ford reportedly made sure to clear space in his schedule to accommodate What Lies Beneath, and for unsuspecting viewers predisposed to seeing a certain heroic brand of Ford, it...

Are you a person who complains on Twitter that not enough mid-budget, story-driven films starring real, classically trained actors get made anymore? Or maybe you were a big fan of 2022's The Banshees of Inisherin because of its intoxicating accents and lush Irish landscapes, but thought Martin McDonagh's morality play got a little too weird once the donkey died? If your answer is yes to one or both of these questions then, boy, do I have the movie for you. Set and filmed in North Ireland, Robert Lorenz's In the Land of Saints and Sinners, which stars Liam Neeson and Kerry Condon as two very different kinds of killers, is a gripping, character-based crime thriller that makes great use of its beautiful location and knockout cast.

It wasn't often that John Wayne made the jump from film to television. A movie star to his core, the Duke was best known for his Western charm and strong lawmen, who always seemed to be on the right side of things. More than that, he was known for earning top billing in expensive Hollywood motion pictures. But there was a time when Wayne graced audiences on their living room television sets, appearing in an episode of the beloved Western classic Wagon Train in a role that might feel familiar to longtime fans of the Western star.

Alamo Drafthouse, the Texas-based theater chain that’s popular for its in-theater dining and fan-forward approach to moviegoing, is exploring a sale.

It's been three years since the King of the Monsters and the king of Skull Island graced the silver screen, but the legendary beasts are back in "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." Adam Wingard has returned to the director's chair for another kaiju-filled romp in the MonsterVerse, one that has even more monsters than 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong" did. Wingard, it's also worth pointing out, is the first director to helm two movies in this franchise, so we're getting some consistency here. But are we getting anything else after the credits start rolling?
Both "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" had post-credits scenes, so it's reasonable to wonder if "Godzilla x Kong" is going to have one. We're here to address that very question in spoiler-free fashion. So fear not! If you're planning on heading to theaters to see the film on opening weekend, we're not...

It’s only been six months since the release of Liam Neeson’s last film, which means theaters are overdue for another thriller led by the prolific star. His latest vehicle, “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” arrives with an unusual distinction: Directed by Robert Lorenz, the film premiered in Venice a month before another Neeson movie, the maligned bomb-threat thriller “Retribution,” hit U.S. screens. Being selected by such a festival lends ”Saints and Sinners” a whiff of prestige, which it decidedly earns. In fact, the film practically resembles a “one for me” endeavor for the star, with its windswept Irish landscapes and thoughtful reserve, putting the actor among an ensemble of his fellow countrymen and providing the performances room to find poignancy.
The story opens with its most suspenseful action: a bombing by an Ira platoon in Belfast that accidentally kills a group of young children, setting...

The James Bond franchise has been one of the most successful action sagas of all-time, and after over sixty years since the character made his big screen debut, the series is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. There will always be a debate over which actor portrayed Bond the best, as different iterations of the saga appealed to audiences of different generations that grew up with the films. However, it’s hard to deny how manganous Sean Connery was in the role of 007, as he set the precedent for what Ian Fleming’s charismatic super spy should be. While both Dr. No and From Russia With Love were successful, Connery’s role in Goldfinger is responsible for turning the character into an icon. Although it’s still cited as one of the best entries in the series, the iconic death sequence in Goldfinger simply isn’t scientifically possible.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.

It's a new age for Doctor Who, with the adventures of the time-traveling alien now premiering on Disney+. At the end of last year, Deadline reported that the USA Network is mounting a major comeback for scripted original content — a mind-boggling move for the post-streaming era. Under the current plan, NBCUniversal plans to roll out new shows for the ad-supported cable network, with the apparent goal of launching the new shows by 2025. This does not seem like a coincidence as one of the network’s formerly most popular and long-running shows, Suits, started streaming on Netflix for the first time in June 2023.

Michael Imperioli is giving fans a further glimpse into his acting process, especially when it comes to the difficulty of being synonymous with an iconic character.
“The Sopranos” actor revealed to The New Yorker that he can understand why certain actors employ Method acting techniques as “being on a movie set is very fucking distracting” to get into character. However, Imperioli noted that on TV series, he opts not to have crew members “be exposed to my stuff” when it comes to how he transforms into roles.
“First of all, to have a career in this business is extremely hard. To have a long career is even harder. To have a long career where you’re getting good work is almost impossible. To be remembered for something, to be identified with a character, is really difficult,” Imperioli said. “I’m not very public about what I do, process-wise. I don...

It’s well-established in the annals of pop cultural TV history: the final season of HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” was one of the most controversial ever, arguably the most hated of any series that was once fully beloved. Originally conceived as two movies and then rethought as a series, the final season from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss was contracted and had to jampack the entirety of its previous seven-season storytelling into six episodes.

More than 700 guests gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street to celebrate the achievements of honorees Fran Drescher, Alex Borstein, Kyra Sedgwick, Tantoo Cardinal, Latasha Gillespie, Millicent Simmonds, Michèle Stephenson and Oscar-winner Raney Aronson-Rath.
SAG-AFTRA executive vice president, Linda Powell, accepted an award on behalf of Drescher, who wasn’t able to make it to the gala due to her father’s recent death.
Powell read directly from a statement written by the SAG-AFTRA president, who pointed out personal challenges she faced in 2023 during the historic Hollywood strikes. “I couldn’t escape the misogyny that plagued press coverage of the strike and our negotiations,” Drescher wrote. “It was disgusting, but I refused and will always refuse to conform to masculine expectations.

Magnolia Pictures has released a trailer ahead of the May 3 release of “Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg,” about the legendary muse to the Rolling Stones. Scarlett Johansson provides the voice for Pallenberg, based on the words of her unpublished memoir. Pallenberg’s children, Marlon and Angela Richards, and their father, Keith Richards are also included in the docu.
Alexis Bloom and Svetlana Zill direct the portrait of the rock ‘n’ roll actor, muse and mother who was called an “evil seductress” and accused of trying to break up the Rolling Stones.
The documentary screened at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, with critic Owen Gleiberman describing Pallenberg as the “beautiful and imperious scenester of the ’60s and ’70s, Hollywood actress and icon of scruffy-chic rock royalty, partner of Keith Richards, muse to several of the other Rolling Stones.”
The review continues, “In addition to Pallenberg’s memoir, the...

The Coen Brothers have made plenty of films across numerous decades now, many of them defined by their crime/thriller elements, unpredictable storylines, and trademark sense of humor that can be equal parts dark and absurd. They’ve made some movies without typical villains, movies where no one really stands out as a villain because everyone’s morally questionable, and movies where a character’s bad luck or hostile environment stands in for a more human villain (like in A Serious Man and Inside Llewyn Davis).

Steven Spielberg can’t stop thinking about Timothée Chalamet atop a sandworm in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.”
The director praised Villeneuve during an installment of the DGA’s “Director’s Cut” podcast, where Spielberg welcomed Villeneuve to the club of filmmakers who are the “builders of worlds” onscreen.
“It’s an honor for me to sit here and talk to you. Let me start by saying there are filmmakers who are the builders of worlds. It’s not a long list and we know who a lot of them are,” Spielberg said. “Starting with [Georges] Méliès and Disney and Kubrick, George Lucas. Ray Harryhausen, I include in that list. [Frederico] Fellini built his own worlds. Tim Burton. Obviously Wes Anderson, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro. With a franchise as massive as this one, it's inevitable there will be tricks of the trade to be mastered. For Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, these titans command the big screen, meaning its human stars, Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway), Rebecca Hall (The Night House), and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), must learn to shape their performances around co-stars that aren't ever in the same room as them.

In 2012, Bob Byington won a Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival for Somebody Up There Likes Me; last year, he returned with Lousy Carter. Writing about the festival, I said of the film: Introducing Bob Byington’s Lousy Carter alongside the writer-director, star David Krumholtz preemptively noted that while the film was shot and is set there, “Whatever you think of Texas, its politics have nothing to do with the film.” The disclaimer is accurate—this is another of Byington’s immaculately mean comedies with an underlying sentimental streak, a blend he’s been iterating with various degrees of sharpness for […]

Memorable movies often become inseparable from the actors who star in them. From Kate Winslet in Titanic to Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games, it can be impossible to imagine another actor taking on these iconic roles. As such, it's tantalizing to discover that a popular film could have had a very different cast. Often, directors cannot obtain their first choice for their productions due to scheduling conflicts, or a star will decline an opportunity to work on a project in order to pursue a different opportunity. This was the case when it came to the casting of Forrest Gump. This classic film stars Tom Hanks in the titular role, a performance that garnered him widespread acclaim. But originally the role was offered to another familiar actor — none other than John Travolta.
