“Pale Moon,” a suspense film that is the latest work by “The Kirishima Thing” director Daihachi Yoshida, has been set to play in the main competition of the Tokyo International Film Festival. It will be the only local Japanese film in the otherwise all foreign section.
Based on the novel by Naoki Prize-winning author Mitsuyo Kakuta, known for “The Eighth Day (Yokame no semi),” the picture stars celebrated actress Rie Miyazawa, alongside Sosuke Ikematsu, Satomi Kobayashi, Yuko Oshima.
“This collaboration of the author, the director, and the actress Miyazawa represents the pinnacle of modern Japanese filmmaking, and delivers non-stop suspense,” said the festival in a statement.
The festival runs Oct. 23-31.
