DURING THE WAR OF THE RING: Following the death of Prince Theodred, Erkenbrand came out of the retirement, strenghtened the walls of Hornburg, and fought at the Second Battle of the Fords of Isen, alongside Elfhelm and Grimbold. Unlike the film versions, it was Erkenbrand, not Eomer, who came with Gandalf to aid the defenders of Hornburg, during the Battle of Helm's Deep. That resulted in the turning point of the battle, and eventual victory of the Free Peoples.

    GLORFINDEL (ELF)

BACKGROUND: Glorfindel was one of the mightiest Elves still inhabiting Middle-Earth. A veteran of the wars against Angmar, he even made the Witch-king flee from him, by simply showing up on the battlefield.

DURING THE WAR OF THE RING: He was dispatched by Elrond to search for Frodo and bring him to safety, since the Nazgul feared Glorfindel's power. He saved Frodo, by carrying him on horseback to Rivendell, while being pursued by the Black Riders. At the Council of Elrond, he was considered as a possible member of the Fellowship of the Ring, but Gandalf noted that his great power (and therefore, greater visibility to the Enemy) would be of little use in their mission of secrecy.

DURING THE WAR OF THE RING: After the Battle of Pelennor Fields, she told Gandalf an old saying: "The hands of the King are the hands of a healer". BACKGROUND: Radagast the Brown was a Wizard, a member of the same Wizard Order (the Istari) as Gandalf and Saruman. He was a friend of animals - especially birds, and a master of shapes and natural lore. However, he didn't care much about playing a part in the major events of Middle-earth, which was a task of all Istari. His place of living was called Rhosgobel, located at the edge of Mirkwood.

DURING THE WAR OF THE RING: Radagast warned Gandalf that the Nazgul are searching the Shire for the One Ring, and also told him to meet with Saruman, not knowing of his betrayal. That led Gandalf to be imprisoned by Saruman, but he was saved by the Eagle-Lord Gwaihir, who was sent by Radagast to scout the area and gather informations about the moving of the enemies.

AFTER THE WAR OF THE RING: Unknown. He probably remained in Rhosgobel, still uninterested in big things that happened (and that will happen) in Middle-earth.
