At the age of 4, Darren was fascinated with a toy film projector he received one Christmas morning. Constructing mock TV cameras and studio sets with his Lego, he had a passion to create and tell stories. At 16, he wrote, produced and directed a 5 episode drama series with the help of a local theater group and the community TV channel.
Since then, Darren has directed several television series for both national and international markets. Programs such as talk shows, live news broadcasts, business, sports, documentaries, music, drama, children's programs and live-event specials. His work has aired on Global, CTV, YTV, SportsNet, TSN, CBC Newsworld, CH, Vision TV, PBS, The Outdoor Life Network, The SuperChannel (UK), and PAX.- Mark Strand (April 11, 1934 - November 29, 2014) was a Canadian-born American poet, essayist and translator. He was appointed Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1990, received the Wallace Stevens Award in 2004, and served as a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets from 1995 to 2000. He was a professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University from 2005 until his death in 2014. In 1999 he received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for "Blizzard of One."

- Gerard Gallant is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. He most recently served as the head coach for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Gallant was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, sixth round, 107th overall. Gallant made his professional debut with the Adirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 1983. At the age of 19, he was the youngest regular on the roster. Spending the full 1983-84 season in the minor league, he finished with 31 goals, 64 points and 195 penalty minutes in 77 games. Gallant split the 1984-85 season between the AHL and NHL, making his Detroit Red Wings debut against the New York Islanders on January 22, 1985. In his first game, he scored against Islanders' goaltender Billy Smith in the second period of a 5-4 Detroit victory.
Gallant played for Team Canada at the 1989 World Ice Hockey Championships under head coach Dave King. Playing alongside Red Wings teammate Steve Yzerman, Gallant scored two goals and had three assists in eight games as the Canadians won the silver medal.
