Ken finds Harry's notes on his conversation with Mr. Krane and the two argue. Harry believes Mr. Krane's story but Ken thinks that Krane is an impostor who wants to be introduced to the president. Harry and Ken argue about Mr. Krane and Harry leaves the room to lay down. Ken tells Elaine about Mr. Krane and that he can't allow Harry to contact the president. Ken then goes outside and cuts the telephone wires. Ken heads for the living room, pulls out a gun, and starts questioning and threatening Mr. Krane. Ken then shoots him in the head twice. Mr. Krane is then seen with two marks on his head and later under a sheet. Harry returns and tells Ken that he has killed the ambassador of a friendly race. Elaine, also upset with Ken's action, slaps him. Elaine, in her room, is confronted by a very alive Mr. Krane who tells her that he has repaired his human body. She is fascinated by him and tries to seduce him, telling him that "some men call me beautiful". Krane tells her that he is not human and has unpleasant sensations when she is near. Elaine tries to touch him and her hands are stopped by an invisible barrier. In the living room, Mr. Krane tells the assembled three that "you people are barbarians" and are a threat to 200 million of his people living on Mars. Mr. Krane continues that his people will eliminate the threat. Mr. Krane tells Harry that his mission is a failure and that the human race would never accept him. Harry tells him that he knows the president would welcome him. Ken, defiant, tells Mr. Krane to do his worse and that "some of us will come out alive". Mr. Krane then exits in a ball of light. Mr. Krane, now a disembodied head in space, reports to an unseen voice. Mr. Krane tells the voice that even faced with him the humans were defiant and are forming a federation to fight the extraterrestrials. He states that the humans will all band together and look to space for their wars, and that they will spend thousands of year searching for the extraterrestrials and not finding them will come to believe that they were a folk legend. The voice then asks Mr. Krane if they can consider his mission a success and he replies yes.
