Meanwhile, Lex Luthor plans his wedding with Helen, while Lionel gives Lex a free airline ticket for a honeymoon in the Caribean, and to tie up some loose ends over the Emily cloning matter, and to take control of the old cave away from Lex.
- In the middle of the night on the road, a young pregnant woman is going into labor while the father of her child drives, when she suddenly glows and implodes, while the guy stops the car and runs for his life. Lana and Clark are driving a truck along the same road and find a baby in the crater created by the explosion. They take the baby to the hospital, and the Kent family temporarily guards him, who is connected to Clark. Lana and Clark give the name of Evan, and on the next day, he becomes a teenager, precociously aging. The scientists of Lex study the case and conclude that the boy needs a transfusion of the bone marrow of his unknown father, if he can be found, and even then... Clark tries to save Evan. Meanwhile, Genevieve Teague has a meeting with Lionel Luthor and threatens to hurt Lex, in case the missing stone from China is not delivered to her. But Lionel soon turns the tables on Genevieve by poisoning her (the same way he unsuccessfully tried to poison Lex in the previous season) and threatens not to give her the antidote unless she gives him the second missing stone whom she in fact stole from the murdered Bridget Crosby.
- Lex is committed to the Belle Reve Sanitarium for the criminally insane by Lionel who forces the shrink, Dr. Claire Foster, to submit Lex to an experimental electroshock therapy technique to erase his memory and forget his past events. Clark visits Lex and after finding out, decides to try to save his friend, despite protests from Jonathan and Martha that Clark's secret is known by Lex. But three of Clark's adversaries reside in Belle Reve. They are the arrogant, power-stealing Eric Summers (from episode "Leech"), the angry, meteor-rock mutant racist Van McNulty (from episode "Extinction") and the double-clone Ian Randall (from episode "Dichotic") who join forces to attack him so Eric can steal Clark's powers again and and escape from the asylum. Meanwhile, Lana begins to distance herself from Clark while she's attending physical therapy to recover from her broken leg with the support of a charming patient named Adam Knight (Ian Somerhalder).
- Kevin Grady commits thefts and uses his superpower to delete the incident from witnesses' minds. When he does so with Clark who stopped him after robbing The Talon, much more memory gets wiped, so Chloe must take super-boy home to the Kent farm and help him remember who he is, including discovering together the amazing extent of his superpowers and his feelings for Lana Lang. Meanwhile Lana tells Jason she's neither sure she still wants to go to college nor to stay his girlfriend, claiming it's not Clark but their complicated past, he walks off angry, warning she doesn't realize how much he has been protecting her. Clark and Chloe trace a motor-park pass Kevin dropped to his home, or rather to his father Lawrence Grady, and gradually discover Kevin is in memory manipulation therapy with him in Summerholt neurological institute, where Lex once was a patient, for a hunting accident killing his brother Dillon but escaped. Clark helps Kevin...
- Lex gets wrapped up in a sex/murder scandal. Clark gets Lionel's help to get Lex out of trouble. Lana meets Jason's mother, whom she has seen before in a dream, which was set in the 1600s.
- As Clark and Lana get more romantically close to each other, the comatose Dr. Fredrick Walden recovers and repeats the sentence "the day is coming, and he will rule the world" many times. He believes that Clark Kent is a menace to mankind. He escapes from the mental institution using a strong power he has achieved and tries to eliminate Clark. Meanwhile, Dr. Helen Bryce returns to Smallville for her engagement party with Lex Luthor, and finds her office broke in and the blood sample of Clark Kent stolen. But who took the blood sample and her office files? Lionel or Lex? Clark is asked by Lex to be the best best man, and Martha and Jonathan Kent to replace his missing parents, as Clark begins hearing voices coming from his spaceship. Also, the evil Lionel Luthor continues playing mind games by trying to poison the relationship of Helen and Lex, as well as Chloe and Clark by offering her an intern job in Metropolis in exchange for her to investigate Clark. But unfortunately, Lionel overhears the revelations of Dr. Walden to Lex about Clark being an alien.
- When Lana (possessed by Isobel) kills Genevieve Teague by stabbing her with one of the Kryptonian Knowledge Crystals after she attempts to steal it, it triggers a cosmic event that not only severs Lana's link to the spirit Isobel but also sends meteorites from deep space toward Earth and Smallville. At the graduation ceremony for Smallville High, the military arrives to evacuate the town after news that another meteor shower is imminent. Fearing he has a link to the meteorites, Clark goes to talk to the spirit of Jor-El, who informs him that his only hope is to unite the knowledge crystals in the cave. With time running out, Clark sets about locating the final two crystals as meteorites reign down upon Smallville. Lana gives Clark the third stone they recovered from China, which was in her possession all this time, while the second stone is on Lionel's person, which activates. Lex offers to protect Lana and have her flown to New York City, but she gets caught in the meteor shower while riding in a helicopter. Lois manages to get out of Smallville in time, but Chloe stays behind to follow Clark who retrieves the final one from Lionel which hits them with a burst of energy driving him comatose. Chloe helps Clark retrieve the final stone from the Luthor mansion safe after he is immobilized by kryptonite, and helps him escape from Lex. Clark manages to unite all three stones, which transports him to the wild tundra of the frigid North Pole...
- Obnoxious athlete Sean Kelvin drowns in an icy, Meteor Rock-infested lake, and is resurrected with an intense need for body heat. He freezes his old girlfriend to death and sets his sights on Chloe.
- At the Kent farm, Clark Kent is surprised in the middle of the night by a naked young woman claiming that she is Kara from Krypton, and asking him to go with her somewhere through the Kawatche caves to be "re-born" with the spirit of Jor-El. Kara also forces Jonathan to reveal the secret deal he made with Jor-El at the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, Clark decides to testify against Lionel to keep him in prison. Lionel sends a key of the secret chamber in the Luthor Mansion to Clark where he finally discovers the reason for the last three years of Lex's personal investigation of him, and he ends his friendship with Lex. Agent Loder continues investigating Clark's origins, until Kara finds him eavesdropping on the Kents and she eliminates Loder for good. Also, Lana leaves for Paris and Chloe and her father are included in the witness protection program. Events come full circle as Jonathan unsuccessfully tries to stop Clark from traveling through a dimensional gateway in the cave wall, Martha observes a Kryoptonia symbol that appears in a open field, Lex is alone in the mansion when he had a drink of brandy which is poisoned, Chloe and her father arrive at a FBI safe house... which explodes with them still inside, and Lionel accepts his new look in prison, but satisfied knowing that his revenge against all those involved with his incarceration has been accomplished.
- Overweight teen Jodi submits to a diet of meteor-infected vegetables from her father's greenhouse. They magically make her thin, but she has an intense craving for body fat. Anyone in her vicinity is in danger, including her date, Pete.
- While working as a volunteer with Pete at Smallville Youth Center, Clark receives a distress phone call from Lana, who is shot by Adam. His further investigation shows that the call was made from the future because of a time/space porthole created by a massive electrical surge from a downed power line fitted with meteor rocks, during a coming thunderstorm. Clark must try to save Lana and change the future. Meanwhile, Lionel Luthor shuts down the obscure Merton Laboratory and the research that Dr. Lia Teng is developing with blood platelet, which were finally revealed to have been developed from the vial of Clark Kent's blood. Adam becomes aware that he has less than 12 hours to be injected with the serum, otherwise he will die. He escapes, kills Dr. Teng and her whole team, and Lex is framed as responsible for the mass murder. Adam then sets out to find Lana to know if she still has an extra vial of serum for him. Lex later meets with an FBI agent, named Frank Loder, who enlists his help to bring down Lionel Luther, who also confides in an associate of his about his research and reveals the reason for it: Lionel himself is dying from a rare liver disease.
- Three months later. Lois Lane, the second cousin of Chloe Sullivan, arrives in Smallville trying to find the missing Clark Kent to help her to find Chloe's murderer. After being struck by a mysterious ray, she loses control of her car, and finds Clark naked with amnesia in a cornfield. She brings him to Smallville Medical Center, where Martha is with Jonathan Kent, who has been in an irreversible coma. Martha brings Clark back to the farm, expecting him to retrieve his memory. However, Clark is completely dehumanized, having been taken over by his alter-ego Kal-El, whose mission is to find three Kryptonian crystals to assemble into one. Meanwhile in Paris, Lana Lang has an American boyfriend, a young man named Jason Teague, and is having a good time with him, until things take a turn when she gets hit with a mysterious spiritual force containing the spirit of a long-dead witch. Elsewhere, Lex is struggling to recover from being poisoned as he travels to bring an ancient object retrieved from an excavation in Egypt which Clark/Kal-El is also after and uses his flying abilities to steal the crystal... in midair. Also, Lois visits the imprisoned Lionel to talk with him about Chloe, while Martha has a meeting with an associate of Virgil Swan's, named Bridget Crosby, who gives her a new type of kryptonite to combat Clark/Kal-El.
- After Justin Gaines romances Chloe, she learns that he has telekinesis ability. Clark angers Chloe by speculating that Justin is responsible for some mysterious accidents, to get revenge for his own hit-and-run injuries.
- After leaving an article full of denunciations about the "Summerholt Neurological Institute" with her former colleague of the Daily Planet, Max Taylor, Chloe is chased by Clark Kent who tries to run her down with his truck. He claims that he had received an e-mail just before his action. Later, Lana also receives an e-mail from the same address and tries to kill Chloe on the steps of Smallville High, who is saved by Adam Knight. Clark and Chloe, with a little help from Lex, investigate the mysterious e-mail origin, and they discover that Molly Griggs, a former patient of the unethical Dr. Garner, is using her meteor-rock abilities to force people to kill through a hypnotic suggestion in her e-mails. Meanwhile, Adam moves to Smallville to be close to Lana despite that nobody knows anything about him. Also, Lex makes contact with Dr. Garner and threatens to expose his unethical practices unless he helps him regain his memory of the last seven weeks.
- The Smallville High cheerleaders are using a kryptonite mixed love potion to seriously change the behavior of their victims.
- Ian Randall is a mentally unbalanced, overachieving student desperate to succeed who gets a 'C' from his stern shop teacher John Frankle. Ian freaks out, duplicates himself and kills Mr. Frankle. The meteor-rock mutant simultaneously invites Lana and Chloe on a literal 'double date', aiming to get a scholarship from Luthor Corp to Yale by using the girls who know Lex Luther. Meanwhile, Lana moves to Chloe's house to live with her and divorced father after Nell leaves town. Clark tries to advise Lana and Chloe about the personality and ability of Ian, but he is misunderstood. Elsewhere, Jonathan breaks his leg, and Lex Luthor meets Dr. Helen Bryce, who is treating Jonathan where an immediate attraction develops between Lex and Dr. Bryce.
- Along the dispute of an election of the president in Smallville High School, candidate Paul Chan is severely injured by a swarm of bees. Pete decides to promote Clark Kent as the substitute for the spot. When the other aspirant schoolmate, Felice Chandler, is also attacked by bees, Clark believes that last competitor, Sasha Woodman, who has the meteor-rock ability to control bees, is behind the attacks. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor is threatened by an opportunist and ambitious reporter from Metropolis, named Carrie Castle, over some dark secrets of his that she's investigating. Also, The Talon, the thematic coffee shop where Lana works, is completely empty, losing clients to the competition; with the threat of closing the doors, Clark turns to Lex to ask for help to keep it open for Lana's sake.
- When Dr. Steven Hamilton, physically sick from repeated exposure to meteor rock radiation, causing constant Parkinson-like twitches, becomes a liability to Lex Luthor, he terminates their contract. Dr. Hamilton leaves the mansion and drives down the road like a lunatic and causes a serious accident with a truck driven by Ray Wallace. The truck overturns in a cornfield near Clark Kent's spacecraft and, while trying to rescue Ray, Pete Ross sees the UFO. The next morning, Pete asks Clark to help him to bring the object to his workshop. When Dr. Hamilton steals the spacecraft, Pete believes Clark has taken it, so Clark discloses his secret to his friend. Meanwhile, the now blind Lionel Luthor moves into Lex's mansion forcing Lex to care for him. Also, to Lana's dismay, her aunt Nell Potter is in love with a new boyfriend named Dean.
- Metropolis, three months later. Clark Kent (under the influence of the red kryptonite ring) has becomes a criminal, heisting banks, going to night-clubs, and living under the alias 'Kal'. But he comes into conflict with not only his Kryptonian-marked chest, but a ruthless and greedy gangster, named Morgan Edge, who wants an ever increasing percentage of the stolen loot, and also begins to suspect Clark's alien origins. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor is declared dead, but he is living with the weird Louis Leery Jr. in an isolated desert island. Back in Smallville, Dr. Helen Bryce comes to his funeral and meets Lionel Luthor in the mansion where secrets are disclosed. Lana Lang and Jonathan Kent try to bring Clark back to Smalville. Unsucessful after Lana's pleas to Clark, Jonathan makes contact in the cave with the spirit of Jor-El who imbues Jonathan with Kryptonian super-powers to combat Clark and bring him home... in exchange for a price. Also, Chloe enjoys her new job at the Daily Planet, while tailing Lana during her search for Clark.
- As Clark has finally begun dating Lana, Helen Bryce cancels her wedding to Lex after being told to by Lionel. But later, Helen realizes that she loves Lex and they finally get married. Meanwhile, Jonathan and Martha are thrilled to learn Martha is pregnant. The memory/spirit of Jor-El speaks to Clark via the spaceship, telling him he must leave Smallville, his parents and friends to fulfill his destiny. Clark decides to destroy the spacecraft, and the spirit of Jor-El with it, by using Lionel's kryptonite-made hexagon key that he made a copy of off the late Dr. Walden, in order to use it on the cave wall to learn the kryptonian markings. Clark, with Pete's help, steals the key and uses it to activate the spaceship, knowing the kryptonian radiation will destroy the ship. The ship does explode, but the shock wave injures Jonathan and Martha, causing her to miscarry. Chloe, jealous of Clark and Lana's blossoming romance, accepts Lionel's proposal to investigate Clark and gets the job at the Daily Planet. Clark, grief-stricken at the injury he caused his mother, puts on the red kryptonite ring and heads out of town on a motorcycle, planning never to return. Elsewhere, Lex, flying off on his honeymoon, wakes up alone on the airplane that is about to crash in the ocean...
- When Lana is attacked by her obsessed school pal Jake Pollan in the deserted swimming pool of Smallville High School, he is mortally shot by an unknown shooter. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor joins Luthor Corp. and his father, Lionel, requires a $50 million life insurance from him which increases Lex's suspicions. Clark investigates the murder of Jake, and finds that the criminal is Jake's friend Van McNulty, who is killing people affected by the meteor rock radiation, and Lex is the next in his death list. When Clark saves Lex, Van sees that he is special and includes Clark in his bill, and learning of his vulnerability, the growingly paranoid and racist Van concocts and shoots Clark with a kryptonite bullet, and then decides to go after Lana for her association with Clark. Also, Chloe discovers that Lionel has taken all her research documents of Clark after discovering that she has begun investigating Lex.
- Without the approval of his father, Clark kicks off senior year by trying out for the Smallville High Football Team, who are now coached by Lana's new boyfriend, Jason Teague. Former acne-ridden nerd Abigail Fine returns from the summer looking beautiful after some Kryptonite powered plastic surgery that spells trouble for Lana and a former tormentor when Abigail discovers that the side affect makes people insane and delusional to anyone she physically kisses. When Lois investigates Abigail's history, her ruthless, plastic surgeon mother, Dr. Fine, decides to silence the curious but klutzy Lois by enforcing the surgery on Lois. Meanwhile, Martha accepts a job managing The Talon while Lois starts working for the school paper the Torch, and gets just a little closer to Clark.
- While hiding the spaceship key in the farm's storm cellar, Martha Kent breathes some unknown meteor-rock spores and immediately gets ill. She is sent to Smallville Medical Center under the care of Dr. Helen Bryce, and the results of her blood tests are sent to the Disease Control Agency (DCA). Because DCA agents are coming to inspect the farm and put it under quarantine, Clark and Pete hurry to move the spaceship. Clark inhales some of the spores and also gets sick, weakening him. The DCA agents find the key, so Jonathan Kent must retrieve it from a military base, expecting a miracle to save the lives of Martha and Clark. With Clark having lost his powers, Helen takes a sample of his blood for examination, and begins to suspect Clark's secret. Meanwhile, Lex fears losing Helen when she gets an offer to leave Smallville to study medicine at a prestigious hospital on the East Coast. Lex also finds out about Clark's condition and secretly takes Helen's medical file on him.
- On the last day of Smallville High before graduation, the emotionally disturbed and frustrated photographer of the Torch, Brendan Nash, feels rejected by the Universities and decides to abduct some schoolmates to stay with him forever in a replica of the school. He uses his power of 'Medusa Touch' of turning people into stone by mere touch, and brings Lana, Chloe, and other successful schoolmates to the place. While Clark teams up with the nosy Lois to find the other students, he also talks with Jonathan and Martha over his college choices after graduation. Meanwhile, Genevieve and Jason Teague kidnap Lionel and Lex Luthor and hold them hostage in a remote mountain cabin and torture both of them to try to retrieve the second mystical stone that Lionel took from them.
- Clark Kent decides to disclose his secret to Lana to avoid her from traveling to Paris, and he invites her for dinner at the Kent farm. But things take a turn when the dangerous teenager Emily Eve Dinsmore, the six-year-old girl (from the episode 'Accelerate') had matured into a grown-up and still obsessed with Lana, escapes from the institute where she is interned. She kills the new owner of Talon and kidnaps Lana. Meanwhile, Chloe joins forces Lex trying to find evidence to send the powerful Lionel to prison for the murder of Lex's grandparents. Elsewhere, Pete is threatened by the corrupt FBI agent, Frank Loder, who is still trying to find what he knows about Clark. Clark then decides against telling Lana his secret after Pete reveals to Clark about the pain of the ability to keep his secret and Pete decides to move away from Smallville to live with his now-divorced mother in Wichita.
- The mystery surrounding Chloe's death deepens as Clark and Lois investigate, discovering that Lex Luthor and Lois' abrasive and militarist father, U.S. Army General Sam Lane, are somehow involved. Meanwhile, Lana returns to Smallville after finding out that the symbol that appeared on her back in Paris is also on the cave wall. In prison, Lionel Luthor prepares for his murder trial and sends out a liquid-metal assassin to keep Clark and Lois from investigating Chloe's 'death'.
- When the "hot" new Biology teacher Desiree Atkins (Krista Allen) arrives in Smallville, Clark Kent gets excited in her presence and his hormonal surge sets off a new ability: heat vision. Lex Luthor meets and falls for Atkins and they decide to get married. Meanwhile, Clark's heat vision causes another fire at The Talon when Clark is talking with Lana, leading Clark to get briefly jailed on suspicions of arson. Lex invites Clark to be his best man, but when Desiree tries to seduce Clark, he realizes that she is a meteor freak with the power to seduce men.
- Jordan Cross is a new transfer student to Smallville High School who has a frightening ability: when he is touched by another person, he immediately sees how he or she will die. When Clark saves the suicidal Coach Altman from death, the future of other people changes, including Lana's. Jordan also learns Clark's secret after he physically bumps into him. Meanwhile, Chloe finds that Adam is injecting himself with some kind of experimental medication, while his increasingly erratic behavior troubles Lana. When Jordan touches Adam, he tells Lana that Adam had already died. Also, Lex continues to investigate his past to regain his memory.
- When Coach Walt Arnold's football legacy is threatened by a cheating scandal, the coach entices Clark onto the team. Meteor Rocks in the coach's sauna infects him with the ability to generate fire, and his enemies start getting burned.
- Lana befriends Harry, an elderly murderer living incognito in a nursing home. He falls into a Meteor Rock pond and regains his youth. Harry starts killing descendants of the jurors who convicted him, one of whom was Jonathan Kent's father.
- Bob Rickman is an evil businessman with a supernatural power of persuasion, which he uses to buy the Kent farm despite Jonathan's repeated refusals. Clark recruits Rickman's reclusive former business partner to help undo the damage.
- When Lex Luthor loses a $150 million contract to Luthor Corp, he finds that his mansion was bugged by his father. He hires a team to bug the offices of Luthor Corp expecting to find the building empty since it is Sunday, but Lionel Luthor assigns Martha for work in his office with him. Jonathan becomes very upset, since it is their wedding anniversary, and he was planning a picnic with Martha. Lex calls off the action, but the leader of the group of industrial spies is killed by a member who wants to steal the contents of Lionel's safe. Martha and Lionel become hostages of the criminals, and when they open the safe, a great secret is disclosed. Meanwhile, Lana schedules a meeting with Mr. & Mrs. Small in The Talon to get to know Jennifer Small, who warns Lana about her husband.
- A mysterious bookie with powers of manipulation has a strange, even dangerous, effect on Clark and his friends. Meanwhile, Lex causes friction by using his influence on Jason and Lana's relationship.
- Earl Jenkins claims that his violent shaking disease was a result of illicit experiments on Level 3 of Luthorcorp. Lionel denies that it exists, so Earl takes a plant tour group hostage. Lex offers himself in exchange for the hostages.
- Depressed from losing his scholarship, Whitney joins a gang of thieves. He gets a meteor rock-laced tattoo and gains the gang's power of phasing through walls. They rob Luthor mansion and seriously injure Chloe, who is interviewing Lex.
- As if Lois Lane didn't make enough of a nuisance of herself now living at the Kent farm, she brings in Einstein, a golden retriever, who is the latest victim to be hit by her car, and she meanly calls him 'Clarky', while Clark, kind as ever, hopes to keep him as a pet if the owner isn't found, which his parents hope. Clark soon finds out it's a surviving dog of an experiment to give canines superpowers with daily injections of steroids mixed with meteorite fragments (kryptonite) produced at LuthorCorp, which Lex insists to Clark that the project was abandoned after animal activist protests, thinking they were all put down. Only later Clark finds out, the hard way, the dog and a Rothweiler are abused by evil Josh Greenfield and his kid brother Zack, who run the Smalville animal shelter and abuse dog whistles to control the super-dogs as weapons for robberies. Meanwhile, Jason and his secretive and manipulative mother, Genevieve, are revealed to know more about Lex and his apparently reformed father Lionel, while Lana and Chloe all take a keen interest in the relevance of the Teague and Lang family trees, which have common roots in countess-witch Isobel's French place of origin.
- Clark and classmate Eric Summer are both struck by lightning while Eric is holding a meteor rock, and Clark's powers are transferred to Eric. While Clark experiences normal humanity, the emotionally challenged Eric goes on a rampage.

Meanwhile, the FBI is revealed to have bugs in Lex's mansion for a surveillance to obtain evidence against Lionel, and Clark becomes a suspect due to the interest of Lionel in the apparently simple "farm boy". Later, agents, led by Frank Loder, arrive at the Kent farm to search it for the missing octagonal key, leading Clark to mistakenly believe that Dr. Swann betrayed him to Lionel. Meanwhile, Lana cannot seem to make up her mind whether she wants to stay with Clark or not.
- A woman appears in Smallville claiming that Clark is her biological son by Lionel Luthor, and she kidnaps Lex to force a confession from Lionel. Clark demands that his parents explain what role Lionel Luthor played in his adoption.
- When Jason arrives at Lana's apartment at The Talon, they see that is was broken into and wrecked. They discover that the magical stone they took from the Chinese temple is gone. Lana implores Jason to leave it, and concentrate on their romantic relationship instead. But the two meet at Lionel's office, who strongly denies any knowledge of the theft and accuses his son Lex, who makes another innocence-claimant. Meanwhile, the Kent farm gets an uninvited guest's guest: Lois Lane's younger sister Lucy, a violinist who left her fancy Swiss boarding school. The Lane girls start hanging out at Clark's place and at The Talon, where Clark catches Lucy stealing from the till; she says to be in debt with Swiss loan shark Marcus Becker "to afford the lifestyle" of the spoiled brats in her class. Lex knows Becker as member of a major crime syndicate he has business problems with, and offers to help. Becker isn't content to take Lex' money, he kidnaps the sisters to extort more, Clark decides it's time to use his superpowers.
- After being hit in the forehead by a snow globe containing flakes of meteor rocks in a struggle at a local carnival, the teenager Seth Nelson is given an M.R.I. giving him magnetic abilities. He uses his powers to date and manipulate Lana who is starting to distance herself from Clark by trying to make him jealous. Meanwhile, a snoopy investigator hired by Lex intrusively breaks in The Torch and finds that Chloe Sullivan is examining deeply the life of Lionel Luthor. Lex offers his protection to Chloe to help him investigate his father's past if he had anything to do with a apartment tenement fire that killed Lionel's parents.

- After stealing an experimental flower laced with meteor-rock pollen from Dr. Steven Hamilton, the employee of the Luthor Corp, James Beales has a truck accident on the road and is rescued by Jonathan Kent. However, the flower releases its pollen on Jonathan's face, and he unleashes his innermost repressed desires first with Martha and his anger towards the Luthors. He enters in coma later. Then Lana becomes affected and tries to seduce Clark. Pete also becomes affected by the Nicodemus flower in the same way. While Clark helps Lex track down the source, Lex hides from Clark that Dr. Steven Hamilton is working for him, but they find the cure in an old book.
- Lana Lang finds some poems from a secret admirer in the gravestone of her parents in the cemetery. Later, she meets the author, Byron Moore, a weird teenager kept locked by his parents in the basement of their farmhouse. They believe the boy is abused by his parents, but soon they realize that he was the subject of an experiment of a laboratory of Luthor Corp, which made him powerfully evil and super-strong when he comes into contact with sunlight. Meanwhile, Martha Kent is invited to work as the assistant of Lionel Luthor, and she accepts the invitation under the reluctance of Jonathan Kent.
