- A managing director of great influence compiles a perfect biography which predestines him to success and esteem. An uncanny datum is also part of the biography, telling that he was even put into the prison of the Horthy-era when he was younger. The flaw in this is that he went to prison because of a duel, since he fought a duel with a hussar colonel over a lady of doubtful reputation. The director in the height of his carrier asks the greyest worker of the company, Ernest Vanek to laud the director in a celebratory speech. Mr Vanek begins to conscientiously collect the biographical data, he even goes to the prison and talks with its director; and the facts come to light.
