- A presentation of the Essence Awards, saluting outstanding African-American women. Ann Margaret was a presenter in this years show. The Essence Awards are the largest event celebrating African-American culture and music in the United States. In Louisiana, the Awards show is locally referred to as the Essence Fest, and the Awards show has been held in New Orleans, Louisiana every year since 1995 except for 2006, when it was held in Houston, Texas due to Hurricane Katrina. It features artists simultaneously performing on a main stage as well as four standing-room only, superlounge stages.

The show tries to answer mysteries and certain queries within diverse fields like the human mind, history, archaeology, medicine, anthropology, nature, biology, space and history. While the show was being planned, Discovery's game-plan was to air twelve one-hour episodes each season for five years. However, when "Curiosity..." did premiere in August of 2011, it began a weekly broadcast schedule that ran the full first season, which ended with the 13th episode on November, 20, 2011. Similarly, the second season also followed the weekly format, between October 7, 2012 and January 27, 2013. Since then, there has only been one episode broadcast under the umbrella title of "Curiosity: The Questions of Our Life". This was the episode named "Stonehenge", which was shown on July 20, 2014. Two websites have emerged since the series debut, both of which deal with analogous subject matter, which achieve their individual goals strategically.

- After ABC renewed Grey's Anatomy for a fourth season, consisting of seventeen episodes. This was a reduced number of episodes, due to the 2007/08 Writers Guild of America strike, which caused production to cease from February to April, leaving the show with no writing staff during that time. Therefore, at the beginning of the fourth season, the show aired its 5th and final in dependant special entitled "Come Rain or Shine". It was created to transition viewers from Grey's Anatomy to (the new spin-off) Private Practice. Narration was provided by the editors of People magazine.

- Kubrick Remembered is one of the supplementary bonus documentaries included in Stanley Kubrick: The Masterpiece Collection. This box set of eight Kubrick classics has films, from the 1962 Lolita to his final film, Eyes Wide Shut (1999). In addition to the eight discs (films), there are two more discs, making this a ten-disc set. It does include the previously-released supplements on each film, plus it features two new-to-disc documentaries and one new feature length film, along with a 78-page book of stills, storyboards, production art, script pages, and other production paraphernalia from the featured films. Part of this collection is the aforementioned bonus documentary, which is with the feature-length documentary Kubrick Remembered. Kubrick's widow opened up the Kubrick archives for this documentary, allowing all of us a closer glimpse into his methods.

- Superstorm is a three-part British docudrama miniseries written and directed by Julian Simpson, about a group of scientists that try to divert and weaken hurricanes using cloud seeding. Superstorm originally aired on BBC One for a period of three weeks, totaling three 59 minute episodes, from April 15th, 2007 to April 29th, 2007. Each episode was followed by a half-hour documentary on BBC Two on extreme weather monitoring and forecasting, called The Science of Superstorms. The series was also aired (after being edited for content) on the Discovery Channel in the U.S. and Canada during the summer of 2007. Superstorm is a co-production of BBC Worldwide, Discovery Channel and ProSieben, in association with M6 and NHK. Ailsa Orr and Michael Mosley, who made also Supervolcano, are the executive producers for BBC, while Jack E. Smith is the executive producer for Discovery Channel.
- German poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht never produced a fully revised version of Baal, his first play (1918), and so the text can be considered fair game for further work. Director Edward Bennett hasn't simply filmed this version of the play, he has risen to the challenge of producing a reading of it. Brecht at one level retains sympathy for Baal; but Bennett never does. He reformulates the play as a powerful critique of the notion of the artist as a kind of social outlaw, and resolves the sexual, moral and political issues into urgent, provocative questions!

- Up Late with Alec Baldwin is a late-night talk show that aired on MSNBC hosted by Alec Baldwin. The series lasted five episodes and aired Fridays at 10 p.m. from October 11 to November 8, 2013, in a time-slot previously held by Lockup. Baldwin discussed current events and past experiences with various guests from news programs, politics, and the arts. The show used a multi-camera set-up. The set was fashioned after a New York City diner, and Baldwin conversed with his guests over coffee while sitting in a corner booth. The show began its run while the host was in the midst of a two-year contract with MSNBC's production arm, Universal Television. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Baldwin stated, "I'm going to do it for a year, and then we'll see what happens."
