The movie company employed 150 inmates from the New Hampton honor farm reformatory, as cavalry and infantry soldiers. Lewis E. Lawes related the story in his memoir, "20,000 Years in Sing Sing" (New York: Ray Long & Richard Smith, Inc., 1932, pages 60-63).
