For many years, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City held what was believed to have been the sole surviving 35MM nitrate print of this film, and continued to run it year after year without taking any steps to preserve it. After the inevitable and irreversible deterioration had advanced beyond the point of restoration, film historian William K. Everson succeeded in having a 16mm copy made, which is all that seems to survive today.
