I would have to say that this film produced in early 32 or late in 31.It is pure Wiemar.Instead of having any Nazi propaganda, it has actually has an anti depression message. This was design German audience to be inspired by it.It has an early appearance by Hedy Lamarr,Who plays the Kathe.Your corpcatting classic film distributors hope that this film never turns up.Why? cause she worked with actors ,who would work under the third Reich eventually, my guess is that she stayed mad with them after the war too. These mainstream distributors and broadcaster of classic films are protecting the stars anti Nazi reputation. They fear that the political correct will protest against showing her Hollywood films,as the excuse to horde their money when it comes to broadcasting and distributing classic films. They are greedy. Some might be Jewish too and don't want to face their past against them or any body else to face their past for them, which is stupid.Past denial is dumb The plot, The Brandt family, Frau Brandt, the mother, Herman Brandt, the father and older daughter Kathe. They all lost their money on their oil leases. The bank Heinz ,works in , has no more clients. He and the bank president Binder hear about their clients rich uncle coming to visit from Chicago. They stick on the chance if they can get him to invest in their bank then more people will invest in the bank too.The Brandts feel that they can borrow money from their uncle Then once he comes they find out that broke too.So Heinz comes up with an idea to use him as a front to get investors to put money back into his bosses bank.So there by the bank can prosper and the family can have their oil lease back and prosper too.Kurt Gerron is one of the tragic figure of acting history. He made a mistake in turning down a Hollywood job.But later on , in his desperation, he even beg Billy Wilder for a rescue and turn him down.He ended up by murder by the Nazi's .He plays Binder.Heinz portrays Heinz Schmidt the bank worker.Stalwart character German actress, who always grins ,Ida Wust plays the mother .Hans Junkermann plays Herman the father.Hedy plays the daughter.Every time she shows up in a scene she upstages everybody because of her beautiful face and good acting skills. She throws Heinz Ruhmann off too.It all of a sudden start to become her vehicle instead.Well , Hans Moser plays the uncle from Chicago Thomas .Also shows up in this feature is another familiar faces of character acting, Albert Florath as the hotel owner and Paul Henckels as the mayor.A good cast. The uncle stars to resent being uses and he attempts to leave but Heinz always stops him.The family gets their leases back and prosper ,the modern convenient that they get,at the time, some of them are still not out of date, like the electric door.Hans Mosers character is timid, like he was in real life. He decides to give in and stay.Everyone thinks he still wealthy .you know it was way before Hitler cause even the American flag is in the film.
