The prosecutor charges Clive Brook with the murder because his fingerprints were on the gun. But he was shown picking up the gun by its outer edges when he was shocked at the discovery of the body. The position of his fingerprints would therefore be inconsistent with a grip used when firing a gun. There would be no print on the trigger or the safety.
