This film and MGM's "Unashamed" (1932) are based on a sensational November, 1931 murder in Philadelphia where Eddie Allen killed his sister's lover Francis Donaldson III. The crime was characterized in the press as a "honor killing". Both families were part of Philadelphia's society. The trial took place in February, 1932.
This film is based on a play titled "A Dangerous Set" by Marion E. Dix and Jerry Horwin. There is no record of it being produced on Broadway.
Louise Carter is listed in studio records as a cast member for the role of "Mrs. Polansky", but Sarah Padden played that role. Leila Bennett is also in studio records as "The Bootlegger", but she did not appear in the movie.
There are conflicting writing sources for this movie: The Motion Picture Guide lists the source as the play, "A Dangerous Set", while the AFI Catalogue lists only a story, "The Higher-Ups", by the same authors. The onscreen credit says it was a play, but no title is specified, and no information about the play has been found.
