Wally says of Dillon, "I wouldn't take his word, not if it were wrapped in Cellophane". A moisture-proof version of Cellophane had been invented just five years prior to the making of this movie, and it revolutionized food packaging, largely due to its transparency. It's one of the superlatives mentioned in the 1934 Cole Porter song "You're the Top", and by 1938, Cellophane accounted for 25% of the DuPont company's profits.
