Warner Richmond was thrown from his horse shortly after shooting began and fractured his skull, which is why he's seen for a very short time in the beginning of the film and then not seen at all for the rest of it. It took three months before he was able to work again, and he never fully recovered from his injuries. He made his last film in 1946 and then retired. He died two years later.
