I read that "Tick Tock Tuckered" is a remake of a previous Porky Pig cartoon, called "Porky's Badtime Story". As I've never seen the original, this is currently the only one on which I can comment. A lot of people will probably assert that Porky's best cartoons were the ones in which he was paired with Daffy, so that their personalities could bounce off of each other. Here they don't really bounce off of each other; in fact, it looks as though they cooperate entirely, as they did in another 1944 cartoon ("Slightly Daffy"). But there was something that I noticed. You may have observed that Porky usually doesn't wear pants (I wonder why the censors never realized that). This is one of the few cartoons that I've seen in which he wears pants. But, in the process of getting dressed, he's butt naked in one scene! Two extremities in one cartoon!
Otherwise, it's mostly a routine cartoon. The scene in which the moonlight prevents them from getting any sleep reminds me of the scene in "Insomnia" where Al Pacino tries to cover up the window to block the nighttime sun in Alaska. Anyone who's gone to Alaska can relate. As for the whole part about wanting to stay in bed after the alarm clock's rung...well, who doesn't like to do that as much as possible? PS: another Warner Bros. cartoon about having trouble going to bed is "Good Night Elmer".
