- Jungle Jim (Johnny Weissmuller) organizes a safari for Dr. Hillary Parker (Virginia Grey), attractive scientist seeking a rare drug which may be useful in treating infantile paralysis. The drug has shown up in a gold vial whose inscription indicates it had been taken from Zimbalu, a great jungle pyramid in which the ancient kings of Africa are buried. Brusce Edwards (George Reeves), young America posing as a wanderer joins the safari over Jim's protests. Also along are Kolu (Rick Vallin), Jim's longtime friend and native guide, Kolu's sister Zia (Lita Baron), and Jim's two pets,, Caw-caw, a crow, and Skipper, a dog. Two near-fatal accidents are followed by Edward's efforts to push Jim off a cliff and by a jungle arrow which barely misses Jim. Near the pyramid, Edwards and the safari natives disappear, while village devil-doctors attack Jim, Hillary, Kolu and Zia. Rescusing Kolu from a man-eating lion, Jim is trapped in a tunnel while the other three are captured. Jim traces the prisoners by Caw-Caw's crowing and discovers Edwards posing as a god in his efforts to steal the treasure. Jim frees the prisoners and chases Edwards up the pyramid, where Edwards dies in the fight that follows, leaving Jim and Hillary to return with the precious drug. Hillary asks Jim if she can go with him on his next jungle adventure.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
