Mike Perrivale : [Mike is interviewing Mr Trimble who is in bed. His wife, Margaret, is by his side] Are you afraid of dying?
Hugo Trimble : Splendid! Everybody's got to die sometime. That is a universal question. No, no I'm not afraid of dying because it brings me nearer to my reward.
Mike Perrivale : Your reward, Sir?
Hugo Trimble : Yes, Mr Perrivale. A teacher's reward must be in the next world. Cos' it certainly can't be in this one.
Hugo Trimble : [He kisses Margaret's hand; she sobs silently] I'm not afraid of dying, Margaret. I'm sorry I am.
Hugo Trimble : [to Mike] If you never remember anything else I taught you. Remember, when you see a woman crying, the only thing a man can do is to kiss her.
Mike Perrivale : Yes, sir.
Hugo's Doctor : [the doctor enters] I thought I told you... .
Hugo Trimble : Get out of here!
Hugo's Doctor : I said: "No visitors".
Hugo Trimble : Look here, you told everybody I had 48 hours to live. Now, if you keep coming on in here and annoying me, I'm going to make a liar out of you and die right away!
Hugo's Doctor : And you're just the man to do it.
Hugo Trimble : Doctors! Take it from me, a doctor is nothing but a plumber in a white coat.

Mike Perrivale : Is the student of today smarter than your student of yesterday?
Hugo Trimble : Ohh, they certainly are. Children are getting smarter all the time. It's only the grown-ups that are getting dumber.
