This is one of a number of films that featured British actors going to France for whatever reason. It was still out of reach for most people not just because of the cost but also because of the currency restrictions.Dennis Price was a fine actor and played comedy well, however even he is unable to breathe much life into this film. His so called romance with Anne Vernon just doesn't work, there is so little chemistry. It is a surprise to find that Norden and Muir co wrote this film bearing in mind that so much of the comedy falls flat on the ground. The only time the film comes to life is in the last 15 minutes in the duelling sequence, which is silly but at least it made me smile.
