The last Tom and Jerry cartoon, that Fred Quimby produced, plus William Hanna and Joseph Barbera directed, together as a trio.
The title refers to Pecos Bill, the mythical cowboy used in American Western tall tales that were first published in 1917 by Edward O'Reilly for The Century Magazine.
The score for this cartoon was featured on the audio CD "Tom & Jerry & Tex Avery Too!".
Pecos keeps using Tom's whiskers as guitar strings, which might be a nod to early instrument strings being made on stretched animal gut (wince).
