The cast and credits read :"filmed on location in the streets of Paris "; actually only a few scenes ,and in Pigalle at that.
In spite of the title, it 's not the autopsy of a crime of passion but a spy thriller ; a superintendent tells a journalist about the one and only failure in his career: a woman ,an engineer 's wife, killed her would be lover ,but was she guilty? Spies wanted to latch onto her husband's plans .
The screenplay is muddled and a bit desultory ,but it works quite well : a woman (Dora Doll) plays a prominent active part for she's victim of a blackmail and she's got to show resilience and,yes ,acumen ,when she has to deal with ruthless spies .
And the final twist is totally unexpected! Who could have guessed that the end of this thriller would lead to the problem of illiteracy?
