Brian Kelly plays the captain of a charter boat, and a year later he'd remain near the water as the star of the television series Flipper (1964), for which he's still best known.
Director Jack Leewood was usually a producer of low budget films. This was one of two movies he directed. Both were crime films starring Gene Nelson, a villain in this and the hero in 20,000 Eyes.
Gene Nelson started out as a movie dancer, then became a leading man in Film Noir and B-Westerns, and villains as well. During this time, though, he was mainly a director of television shows and a few features.
The plot of a formerly successful businessman deciding to instead work a hands-on job on a boat, whilst his wife tries luring him back inland (with a young child in the mix), was previously used in Deep Waters (1948) starring Dana Andrews and Jean Peters. Although the similarities are most likely coincidental, both are part of 20 Century Fox "Cinema Archives" On-Demand DVDs.
