Writer, publisher and TV producer who made drama for children and adults
Ruth Boswell, who has died aged 86, “got into telly” after a job reading unsolicited scripts for Atv during the early 1960s. She went on to script editing and producing in Atv’s children’s department, where she made the series Timeslip (1970) and The Tomorrow People (1973). Her instinct for storytelling, combined with her own knowledge of loss in childhood, gave her insight into children’s emotional development through the arts.
She later moved into adult drama at the BBC, where she and her husband, Greg Stewart, a psychiatrist, helped to develop Maybury (1981-83), a series about people with mental health problems, written by Shane Connaughton and featuring a young Kenneth Branagh. Then she moved on to Anglia TV to make the series The Chief (1990-95) with Tim Pigott-Smith and Martin Shaw. She also produced a feature film, The Run of the Country...

Ultimate X-Men #4-6 (2001)
Written by Mark Millar
Penciled by Adam Kubert (4), Andy Kubert (5-6)
Inked by Art Thibert (4), Danny Miki (5-6), Joe Weems (5)
Colored by Richard Isanove
Published by Marvel Comics
In Ultimate X-Men #4-6, writer Mark Millar and artists Adam Kubert and Andy Kubert continue to amp up the action with a pair of Sentinel assaults in the final two chapters while also giving Cyclops, Quicksilver, and Wolverine much needed character development. Millar continues to portray Magneto as the mutant Hitler (Cyclops even invokes Godwin’s Law in a “father/son” chat with him.), but his work with Xavier is slimy as well. Sure, he seems like a good guy, but he messes with Cyclops’ brain chemistry to try to get him not leave the team and concludes the “Tomorrow People” arc with Ming the Merciless-type stare while revealing he has a secret plan that might involve Wolverine.

Teen Wolf has added Dylan Sprayberry to the cast. Sprayberry, best known for playing a young Clark Kent in Man of Steel and a young Cooper Anderson on Glee, will appear in season four as a “perfect” student who isn’t ready for the supernatural craziness of Beacon Hills.
Max Greenfield has been booked to appear on an episode of The Mindy Project. It’s not a New Girl crossover since Greenfield won’t be playing Schmidt. That makes me a little sad since Mindy and Schmidt could make for some amazing relationship drama.
More Max Greenfield is always a good thing.
Allison Janney tells Digital Spy that she’s set to appear in the second season of Masters of Sex as the wife of closeted University Provost Barton Scully. Janney adds that they’re still figuring how many episodes she’ll appear in as they have to work around her Mom schedule.

The 2014 People’s Choice Awards nominations were announced Nov. 5, and with fan-favorites like Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Lucy Hale & Lea Michele all racking up nominations, our heads are spinning!
The People’s Choice Awards has always been one of the stand-out fun awards show offerings, but this year’s ceremony is looking to be a bloodbath. Jared Padalecki vs. Jensen Ackles vs. Stephen Amell vs. Ian Somerhalder vs. Andrew Lincoln? Pretty Little Liars vs. The Walking Dead? (How does one even vote on that?) At least no matter who wins, it’s somebody we like, right? (Wrong. So wrong. This is huge!)
Vampires, Liars, Doctors, and Walkers: The TV Noms
With plenty of viable candidates, the TV nominations are as brutally difficult as ever this year. Some of our favorite categories include “Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show,” which has Beauty and the Beast, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries,...

On Wednesday, October 9, a new version of The Tomorrow People will debut on Us television, over forty years after the show's first iteration debuted on ITV in the UK.
Created by Roger Price, the original series premiered on April 30, 1973, kicking off with episode one of five-part adventure 'Slaves of Jedikiah' and launching a science fiction franchise that would take in two television shows, comics, novels, a bevy of merchandise and one (sadly truncated) audio series.
But with a third TV take on the property - from The CW - now just days away from its own launch, how does that original '70s series opener stand up? Today, the Week in Geek finds out...

"The Tomorrow People" was originally a British science-fiction series that ran in the 1970s. In the show, a man named John led the group of supernaturally evolved young adults. That same man, actor Nicholas Young, has now been cast in a recurring role in the CW remake.
The new role for Young is that of Aldus Crick, according to TVGuide.com. Crick is the scientist who discovered and studied the first generation of Tomorrow People, including Stephen's (Robbie Amell) father. Helping Stephen find that father, however, will make Crick a target of Ultra, the paramilitary organization out to find and capture the Tomorrow People.

Nicholas Young is on his way back to The Tomorrow People.
The actor - who starred on the original version of this upcoming CW drama as John Young (who will be portrayed on the new series by Luke Mitchell) - will appear on Episodes 8 and 9 of Season 1.
Look for Young to come on board as a scientist named Aldus Crick who discovered and examined the first generation of Tomorrow People.
He will have a connection to Robbie Amell's Stephen Jameson via the latter's father, as Stephen will hope Crick has information about his dad's disappearance.
The Tomorrow People tells the tale of a group of individuals who learn they are the next step in human evolution. Think The X Men meets Heroes and tune in for the series premiere on Wednesday, October 9, following the opener of Arrow Season 2.

I’m going to need some help from anyone who understands British television on this story. Apparently, Catherine Tate is planning on reviving Nan, her curmudgeonly old lady character for a “TV recording” for the BBC. I’m guessing a “TV recording” is a live stage performance recorded for TV? Either way, it’ll be great to see Tate play one of her iconic characters again.

The Tomorrow People remake has cast original series star Nicholas Young.
Young - who played John on the '70s ITV sci-fi series - has been cast in a new role on The CW's forthcoming remake, TV Guide reports.
The English actor will play Aldus Crick, a scientist who first discovered the Tomorrow People, in the new show's eighth and ninth episodes.
Young starred as John - the role played by Home and Away's Luke Mitchell in the remake - between 1973 and 1979 and was the only cast member to remain for the original Tomorrow People's entire six-year run.
Robbie Amell (Revenge) and Peyton List (Mad Men) will also star in The CW's series, with Lost's Mark Pellegrino cast as villain Jedikiah.
Julie Plec - who developed the revamp - previously admitted that she is a fan of the original Tomorrow People and used to watch the series as a child.

Nicholas Young, who played John in the original series, has joined The Tomorrow People remake on The CW...
Nicholas Young is following up his six-year stint on the original The Tomorrow People (in which he played the group's young leader, John), with a role in The CW's remake of the seventies series.
Young is to appear in episodes eight and nine of the new series, which makes its debut on the 9th of October in the Us and shortly afterwards on E4 in the UK. He'll be playing Aldus Crick, a scientist with information about the disappearance of lead Stephen's father, who attracts the unwelcome attention of Ultra, the organisation that seeks to exterminate homo superior.
This kind of hat-tip to the original series is usually a winner - Conan Doyle fans were delighted, for instance, to see former Sherlock Holmes actor Douglas Wilmer...

"The Tomorrow People" has found the voice of its all-important computer, Tim. And that voice belongs to Dan Stevens.
Stevens, best-known for playing the role of Matthew Crawley on "Downton Abbey," will not actually be seen on "The Tomorrow People." Instead, EW.com reports that he will provide the voice for Tim, a biological, artificial-intelligence computer that works with the Tomorrow People.
An important part of the original British series as well, Tim was voiced by Canadian actor Philip Gilbert in the 1970s. Although the main characters on the show are gifted with super-human evolutionary traits like telepathy and teleportation, Tim was always necessary to provide information about what was actually going on.
Although a central figure on "Downton Abbey" in previous season's, the sudden and unexpected death of Matthew Crawley in the last aired episode of that show has freed Stevens to work on other projects. In addition to "The Tomorrow People,...

The Tomorrow People’s artificially intelligent mentor now has a famous voice behind it.

There's always one day during the Sdcc when you just shake your head, laugh, and say, "This schedule is ridiculous." Saturday, July 20th, is shaping up to be that day this year.
Horror fans will have a lot of choices to make as the "Bates Motel" panel battles the one-two punch of Godzilla and Seventh Son. Later in the day you'll be faced with choosing to learn more about "True Blood," Telltale's The Walking Dead video game, or "Being Human." Right now 20th Century Fox's presentation that runs at the same time remains "To Be Announced," but once details are revealed, we'll provide an update.
Other panels vying for your attention throughout the day are "The Originals," "Grimm," I, Frankenstein teamed with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (that combination should make for some interesting audience reactions), a look at gameplay from Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, more games, comics,...

This year, the fall television schedule is a decidedly crazy beast. I know, that doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that separates any year from any other, but television is in the midst of dizzying spins of theory, and comparisons to previous years show some serious changes.
Most striking is probably the extent to which the big networks are content to leave each other alone. Also noticeable is the unspoken admission that perhaps DVRs exist, and the schedule doesn’t really need to worry quite as much about who is watching what at the exact moment it airs. We’re still pretending to a degree, but there are hints.
At the moment, you’ve only got a quick look, but we will be constantly updating this page as any changes occur, and as the new shows are available for review (sure, we’ve seen them, but we aren’t supposed to “review” them…...

CSI: NY executive producer/showrunner Pam Veasey has signed a two-script development deal with Warner Bros TV-based Jerry Bruckheimer TV - also the producers of CSI: NY, which was recently canceled after 9 seasons, so it looks like the Veasey/Bruckheimer partnership lives on. Veasey was with CSI: NY for its entire 9-season run, and also counts Ringer, The District and In Living Color as part of her resume. There aren't too many photos of Veasey solo - especially...

“Star-Crossed” looks like shit. But the other two sci-fi shows look pretty cool. “The Tomorrow People” is like “Alphas” set in high-school (though hopefully not forever) while “The 100″ is post-apocalyptic/sci-fi. Since all three shows are, of course, CW shows, it’s heavy on the teens. Or 20-somethings playing teens, anyway. Good for you if you know any of the people starring in these shows, because they’re all pretty much new to me. The Tomorrow People They are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities — the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Up until a year ago, Stephen was a “normal” teenager — until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen’s issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst,...

The CW has released new, extended trailers for all five of their upcoming shows. A couple of these look pretty good, like “The Tomorrow People”, which looks like a high school version of “The X-Men” (or Syfy’s recently cancelled “Alphas”), but hopefully it’ll move past the high school setting because who the hell needs more of that on the CW? Another show of interest is apocalyptic sci-fi drama “The 100″, which has a nice premise. Shows that look completely dreadful include “Star-Crossed”, which is like “Twilight” and “Roswell”, but badly acted, written, and directed, which probably means it’ll last for a while. This is the CW, after all. “The Originals” is for you fans of “The Vampire Diaries”, and “Reign”, well, that’s a pretty brave idea for the CW, who rarely strays from their “ridiculously good looking 20-sometings playing teenagers in high school” formula. The Tomorrow People...

Earlier this year, the Week in Geek posed a big question - in the wake of Merlin and Being Human both departing our screens, was demand for sci-fi and fantasy television in decline?

CBS can rightfully boast about winning another season in the ratings, but really all it did was stand still.
When the 2012-13 TV season, as measured by Nielsen, ends on Wednesday (May 22), the Eye will have locked up its 10th victory among total viewers in the past 11 years. For the first time in eight seasons, CBS is also the adults 18-49 leader, breaking Fox's streak atop the demographic heap.
In a year when it had the Super Bowl to boost its numbers, CBS improved a scant 1 percent in total viewers (11.86 million vs. 11.75 million in 2011-12) and fell slightly in adults 18-49 (2.9 from 3.0), based on the most recent Nielsen averages. CBS still would have been No. 1 even without the Super Bowl, but nonetheless it didn't really grow its audience much.
This season, though, not falling is something of an achievement. NBC had the smallest dropoff of the other big four nets,...

The CW has posted clips for its new shows, and it looks like there will be plenty of supernatural-tinged angst to go around next season. Let's take a look at the new shows, all hour-long dramas. On Tuesdays, we've got The Originals, a spinoff of the CW's mega-popular The Vampire Diaries. Remember, every time someone on the CW gets punched, a vampire gets its wings. Here's the promo: And a clip: Wednesdays, after tank-top extravaganza Arrow, there's The Tomorrow People, about a guy who discovers he has super powers. And Thursdays, in the primo post–Tvd time slot is Reign, about the teen years of Mary, Queen of Scots. Come mid-season, the CW will also air Star Crossed, about human-alien conflict. And The 100, about a group of juvenile delinquents sent back to Earth after a nuclear holocaust.

That's the question at the center of Star-Crossed, which features Aimee Teegarden as Emery and Matt Lanter as Roman and tells the tale of two seemingly mismatched young lovers.
The new drama will premiere in early 2014, but you don't need to wait that long to get your first look at various scenes from the pilot. Browse through them here:
We've also posted photos from three other new CW programs:

The CW has given us our first look at a number of upcoming new shows.
First, we posted pictures from The Tomorrow People, which will air Wednesdays at 9 this fall. Then, it was Reign, which is set for Thursdays after The Vampire Diaries. Now, it's time for The 100, whose premiere date is unscheduled and will take place in early 2014.

But with resources running out for the 4,000 people remaining, a group of 100 juvenile prisoners are sent back to this planet to explore its viability. And, as teased in the network synopsis, the pressure is on:
With the survival of the human race entirely in their hands, The 100 must find a way to transcend their differences, unite and forge a new path on a wildly changed Earth that’s primitive,...
