Sex & Nudity

  • Gwen the goose is seen laying eggs through the movie.
  • When Fern leaves Wilbur for a boy she likes, it is implied that they are attracted to each other. They hug in one scene.

Violence & Gore

  • Wilbur jumps off a hay bale (trying to "spin a web" like Charlotte) and hits the ground, he jumps the same hay bale again but with his tail tied to ceiling wood with a piece of string. It then snaps and he then falls and hits the ground again. (Nothing graphic, but made for laughs)
  • Templeton, the rat, bites Wilbur's tail on a couple of occasions in order to revive him from having fainted, after one or more other animals encourage him to revive Wilbur.
  • Wilbur is almost beheaded in the beginning of the movie.
  • There is talk about death and being killed for bacon and ham in the movie.
  • Charlotte sucks blood out of insects in her web.

Profanity

  • A woman says, 'Oh my goodness' at 1:17:35. That's pretty much it.
  • None. This is a G-rated picture.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Wilbur takes a spoonful of sulfured molasses (which was prescribed him to improve his appetite), and he rolls his eyes around deliriously for a short time afterward, and he gets an unpleasant look on his face.
  • Templeton the rat is shown hiccuping after eating at the carnival, which some perhaps think implies that he is drunk (it should be noted that a whole banana, unchewed, forcefully fell down his throat into his stomach right before he started hiccuping).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The theme of the film is that Wilbur (the main character) is afraid that he will die in the fall and turned into smoked bacon and ham.
  • When Wilbur is shown being taken away from Fern, it may upset many viewers.
  • In one scene, Wilbur is spooked by an owl and thunder in the middle of the night. He sneaks into the Arable family home.
  • Wilbur the main character is a truly sad character himself.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Charlotte is shown with an egg sac through the movie. Baby spiders are later shown coming out of the sac at the movie's ending.
  • Templeton the rat is shown with children and a girlfriend at the movie's ending.

Violence & Gore

  • Fern brings Wilbur to a boy's window and lets the boy hold him. His mother comes and tells him to put the pig down; he does, Wilbur runs around, and she chases him with a broom, seemingly trying to get him with it. Wilbur breaks stuff as he runs around the room.
  • A boy tries to catch Charlotte, the spider (which would have been tragic), but Wilbur charges the boy who accidentally crushes Templeton's hidden rotten goose egg. The smell of the rotten egg wards the boy off, and offends the noses of almost everyone else present, including Templeton.
  • Charlotte dies near the ending of the movie.
  • Fern is almost stung by a hornet, but she ducks and instead it gets caught in Charlotte's web and she wraps it up.
  • Templeton refuses to attend Charlotte's meeting; so, she tricks him by encouraging him to look for a sandwich where she saw a cat. The cat chases Templeton, but he escapes. Charlotte says something like maybe that will encourage him to attend her future meetings. In a musical sequence, he eats nonstop and is shown very obese with indigestion.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The death of Charlotte near the ending of the movie can be very heartbreaking to most viewers.
  • Charlotte's children leave Wilbur after they are born.
