The Love School is what it was called in Britain - and I LOVED it...
jane-nelson2 February 2010
Even though I saw this series more than 30 years ago, it is still something I talk about and think about regularly. Unlike the tawdry "Desperate Romantics" it was seriously informative about art and the era in which the Pre-Raphaelites were working. And the cast was stellar! We recently visited William Morris's first house, where he and the others all worked - and fond memories of a brilliant series came flooding back.

I so wish this was available on DVD. I'd love to watch it again - but I'd also love my children (now grown up!) and grandchildren to see it too. Seriously good and important drama - and yet the BBC won't release it on DVD. Shame on them.

The Love School aka The Brotherhood
GladtobeGrey12 August 2009
Oh how I wish this excellent drama was available to buy, but unfortunately the BBC don't have any plans to release it. Unlike 'Desperate Romantics' currently showing on BBC television (Aug.2009) 'The Love School' actually portrayed the artists' ART as well as their lives and managed to do so without all the breathless and rather too frequent sex scenes or ridiculous 'Carry On' film style music all the way through. It also featured world-class actors and actresses who actually looked like the characters they were portraying. If you would like to be able to buy a DVD of the series, I urge you to write to the BBC - perhaps if they get bombarded with requests they may listen to the people who pay them their licence fees and release it for sale. UPDATE: DVD now available through Amazon
