- Two old people get married and their children from their previous marriages now have to live together under the same roof. Clashes and hilarity ensue.
- Homi Mistry (Ashok Kumar) has been a widower for several years now, and looks after his four sons, their small house, and a job at the factory. Nargis Sethna has been widowed; is a housewife, has two sons and a daughter, and a large house. Then Soli (David), Nargis' and Homi's friend, suggests that the two get married, then at least the children will have a mother and father, as well as a larger house. They do get married, and hilarious chaos results, as the family and the children try to accommodate each other and fit in with their new family and surroundings.—rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
- Homi Mistry (Ashok Kumar) is a Parsi widower who is about to retire. He lives in a small home with his four sons. Fali (Raviraaj), Peelu (Raju Shrestha), Russie (Ranjit Chowdhry) & Jaal (Devendra Khandelwal) Realizing that he may need emotional support and someone to take care of the house and his sons: Peelu is the youngest and is not very sincere at school. Since Homi is at work, he needs a mother to take care of him and ensure that he studies. Jaal doesn't want a factory job and dreams of earning a living by playing a guitar. Russie is a budding cricketer. Fali is a mechanic and keeps pouring money on fixing a minivan that he purchased on debt. He planned to pay off the debt with rental income, but the bus is not working enough for that. Homi feels a mother is needed for a firm hand on the boys. Homi decides to remarry.
His friend Soli (David Abraham Cheulkar) introduces him to a Parsi widow Nargis Sethna (Pearl Padamsee), who has one daughter and two sons. Feroze (Rakesh Roshan), Freni (Preeti Ganguli) & Fardeen (Vikram (Vicky) Sahu). Soli also believes that Nargis pays rent of only Rs 150 for a large bungalow and both families can easily accommodate in that. This will also leave room for Homi to bring his daughter-in-laws as his sons get married. Nargis has to do odd jobs around the house and has no help from her kids. Freni is fat and cant get a boy. Fardeen keeps picking random fights. Feroze is dating Zarine (Bindiya Goswami). He keeps taking money from Nargis to spend on Zarine. Zarine is the daughter of a rich dude (Pradeep Kumar). Zarine is angry that her dad tries to buy her love with expensive gifts. She is just hungry for love.
Dara (Deven Verma) is Homi & Soli's junior at work and is a Parsi.. He is also very frustrated as he is not getting married. Dara's mother (Piloo J Wadia) is very dominating and wont allow any matches for him. She still thinks of Dara as her little boy.
Soli gets Homi and Nargis together and they both like each other. They are both worried about how society will make fun of them. Hell breaks loose as both the families are informed of the alliance. Homi is adamant that the families will stay with Nargis in her bungalow.. Whoever wants to stay back can take care of themselves.. All the boys agree. At Nargis, she challenges her boys to get a job and says she wont marry if they contribute into the house. They have no other option as their financial situation is dire.
The wedding happens. The families move in together. Peelu has to stay with Freni. Fardeen moves in with Feroze. Fali, Russie and Jaal move into Fardeen's room. Nargis's kids start intimidating Homi's kids at every occasion. They want to frustrate them out of the house. The parents somehow prevent a physical altercation. Then comes the queues and fights outside the bathroom. One bathroom and 7 kids to get ready. Nargis handles school and food. Homi handles the money in the house. But after rent and utilities there isn't much left at all. Nargis is worried about Freni's future. Homi talks to Dara about marrying Freni and he is super excited. At this stage he will marry anyone so long as they are female. he convinces his mother by threatening to commit suicide. Dara and Freni meet and the wedding is set. Freni cries the most for Peelu, while departing.
Meanwhile Zarine's father tells Feroze and Zarine not to see each other. He gets Feroze beaten up by his goons. The brothers all offer help to protect Feroze, if required. Feroze is touched as to how much his step brothers also care for him. Zarine leaves home and comes to stay with Feroze. Homi and Nargis welcome her, as Feroze and Zarine decide to get married. Peelu has to leave Freni's room as Feroze and Zarine start living there. Zarine's father gets Homi fired from his job at the factory. Meanwhile Freni and Dara also leave their house due to Dara's mother and come to stay with Homi and Nargis. Dara's mom begs Freni to come back home and she agrees.
Meanwhile the boys understand the situation and get responsible and stop taking pocket money from Homi. Fali sells the mini van for 1500. Russie gets a job that pays him rs 200 per month as a cricket player. Jaal gets a job in a factory. Then Zarine's dad gets Homi and Nargis evicted from their house. Their entire furniture is put outside, along with the entire family. The family spends the night in the open sky. They are still happy together. Zarine and Feroze decide that they need to separate for the sake of their family. Zarine returns home and tells her dad that while he won, but he lost his daughter in the process. Homi goes to meet Zarine's dad. He tells him that despite all the injustice Homi never complained, but he will kill him if he tries to separate Feroze and Zarine. Zarine's father understands the love of the family and lifts the lockout of the house. The family moves back in. Zarine's father drops his daughter at her house, with her family and blesses her.
